Sofyan Amrabat | signs for United on loan

My (wild) guess is, we're prioritizing a striker first. Hojland could cost us 40m, or could cost us 80m. Unless we have that deal wrapped up, along with sale of players like Fred, Henderson, Maguire, Martial etc, this is put into the back burner since its not a priority position. Won't be surprised if we revisit this mid Aug.
We're not selling Martial. Actually if we did, it'll be great news because it means we're probably getting Kane.

A window of Mount, Onana, Zion, Amrabat, Hojlund and Kane, while getting rid of a lot of deadwood would be heaven.

Be realistic

So no backup for Case? Why would you sign Gabri Veiga when we have Mount, Bruno, Eriksen and DvdB in the CM position?
Unless we sell Mctominay then he covers for Cas. If we sell VDB and fred then we need another CM.

I think people will be surprised, I can’t see Mctominay leaving this year, he’s going to be used a lot from the bench as an advanced BTB number 8.
Yes I will be surprised if that happens.

But Mctominay does not possess any of the abilities required to play Cas' position effectively so how can he be the backup for Cas? That is a disaster waiting to happen. Regardless of whether all 3 players remain or not, we absolutely need CMs.

That makes no sense. Mctominay is not a cover for Casemiro and we need a cover for Casemiro. The interest in Amrabat from ten hag should tell you that he thinks the same.

Some people think football is so simple that you can put any player in any position and he would perform. Problem solved. How the hell can anyone think of Mctom to be cover for Casemiro is beyond me. Might as well put Mount there too.

I don't think he's an adequate cover but Ten Hag saw him as Casemiro's backup for most of last season.

Because he had no choice. Just like he played Rashford as a striker but we know he’s doesn’t prefer to play him there and looking to sign one this window.

I see now that Ten Hag managed him at Utrecht and that Amrabat is born and raised in NL.

Yeah we go to crap when Casemiro's out. We definitely need another DM. Anyone thinking we already have cover seem to forget how diabolical our midfield was before Casemiro joined. I'd be delighted if we close this transfer window with a rotational DM and Striker.

I know absolutely nothing about this guy but if it gives us more depth in midfield especially the No.6 position I am all for it.

Only ever seen him in the World Cup and Europa conference final and he looked great in all the games I've watched him.

Don't know what he's like week in week out, but definitely looks like ETH is trying to address the weakness in midfield in the big away games. Amrabat and casemiro with bruno/mount ahead definitely will give us a stronger midfield spine to compete in these games.

Looks to be a decent price and will be an upgrade mcfred from the limited time I've seen, I'm all for it.

Replacing McFred with Amrabat and Mainoo would be great. Both of them would get plenty of games especially with our schedule, and means we can adequately rest players and not have to play the same players every three days like we did most of last season.

Its a miracle we didn’t get a single FA Cup replay otherwise we’d have been screwed.

Am I the only one who doesn't get this? His defensive stats are appalling and the only thing he excels at is his passing in a league that allows you more time on the ball... I don't see him coming in as a DM to allow Case to rest, perhaps just as a DLP next to casemiro but then again his progressive passing also is garbage.

Relax.. Don't worry mate. Something soo good is cooking.
People will be utterly surprised with our team this coming season. Worry not bro. Worry not.

You really need to look at his stats. Hes really good volume passer and a progressive passer.

He's more of a carrick than a casemiro. Will be delighted if we pull this off. Another different dimension to the midfield we dont currently have.

Amrabat and Casemiro are very different players. Rather that rotating the two to avoid fatigue, I think EtH would use one or other based on his team tactics for that day.

Amrabat is a lot more similar to De Jong. Only thing he's lacking is key passes. But with Mount and Bruno in the team, I don't think that matters too much.

Amrabat is also more of a high volume passer than Casemiro. It's a role nobody else in midfield has been able to fulfil properly since Carrick. If he can adapt, he'd be a hugely useful addition in that respect.

He seems to be a decent ball carrier and press resistant as well.

I have a feeling that against the top teams, we will play him next to Casemiro with Mount on the left wing. He will help us beat the press and dominate more possession in these games.

He will also replace Fred / Mctominay minutes so can’t really complain to be honest.

Yes I did look into the passing which is great but I do feel he's nowhere near Carrick if we take a look at the interceptions/defensive actions: https://fbref.com/en/players/5a2cb25d/scout/365_m1/Sofyan-Amrabat-Scouting-Report. If we do sign him I hope you're right but I have a weird feeling this won't be that upgrade on mcfred people expect.

Mount is more the Fred replacement in that he can do all the of the ball pressing and harrying that Fred does but with a much higher technical level. Not really sure what it is that McT does tbh that needs replacing but Amrabat is a different profile to what we have and a profile we’ve needed in that he can receive the ball in deep areas and move it securely to the advanced areas while evading presses.

So is this actually happening? Don't want to get too happy and get disappointed. Waiting for a top tier source.

Totally agree Mr Chairman.
