Sofyan Amrabat | signs for United on loan

I said this and someone told me to stop finding things to be negative about. Nothing screams 'priority target' like telling a bloke you're going to bid for him in June, forcing him to train on his own and miss the opening of the season, then coming in for him on deadline day with a £2m loan deal...
I think EtH really overestimated Mount's ability. Now that he sees him in training, he is scrambling for alternatives.

We'll be going to 4231

---------Casemiro-------Amrabat-------
Antony---------Bruno---------Rashford
--------------------Højlund-----------------

How on earth are a club as big as Utd struggling so much to fund basic transfers.

It's beyond a joke how badly this club has been run.

If we were buying him as a starter we would have bought him a lot earlier than this

Hopefully it's a case of realizing we've made a mistake with buying Mount to be a starter, and trying to rectify that now.

I'd take a Casemiro/Amrabat double-pivot right now over what we've been doing.

Maguire we refused to payoff despite him having no business at the club.

Mctominay we refused £30m for despite that being probably his price.

There are two.
Like I said we are being offered peanuts as transfer fees. You want us to blindly giveaway players for peanuts just for the sake of it? If Maguire wants to play for another club he has to accept a wage reduction. We can't be paying him to play for another club. It's the punishment for paying silly money for an average player that we have to take.

We paid 55m for a player in the last year of his contract. Why should we give away McTominay for 30m?

If we had competent people running the show, but we dont.

Amrabat has clearly assumed he was joining United for months.

Even if he joins now can you imagine how he will feel...

... now it's clear his preferred club values him at 2m? Christ on a bike - you couldn't make this stuff up.

I think he will not care about the transfer fee as long as his salary is where it should be.

As long as Amrabat doesn't hoover up Mainoo's game time, then fine. Still think he isn't particularly needed and I reckon the club feel the same.
Hes most definately needed. If the club don’t think so and the manager does. Thats a big problem

Does he have to be signed before lunchtime tomorrow to be involved against Arsenal?

He isn’t going from a formation with two 8s with a high press and a more attacking angle to suddenly dropping that for a midfielder who has 2 goals and 3 assists in 117 games.

Even though McTominay barely plays
Maguire we refused to payoff despite him having no business at the club.

If we remove our bias and the social media memes of McFred and Maguire(They are not as poor as their internet image )in today’s market just from a comparitive analysis, McTominay easily has a value of close to 40m

In the long run, we need to have guiding principles if we’re rebuilding and not accept lowball offers from clubs. But in the short term we could have done with the signing to improve our squad.

Everything has a trade off and feel United overestimated the demand for both MCT and Maguire which is causing this mess.

I pretty much expect ETH to know the available finances and organize his priorities accordingly.
This is a bit naive.

If your DOF football says its all good why would the manager not believe him? The manager is not the recruitment department.

Remember we paid a-lot more than we anticipated paying for Hojlund (not the managers fault) and generated a-lot less in sales than wanted too (not the managers fault)

Also remember he had to fight to get a new keeper over keeping DDG.

I reckon this is a classic case of the club overselling to the manager and under delivering. Which we know has been happening over a number of years.

On ETHs part he was naive to believe our recruitment department could be competent and was naive not to demand a proper DOF be in place when he took the job. The fact most of our signings have prior connection to ETH shows the DOF and recruitment department is just not functioning well at all.

I'd rather we prioritised Mainoo's development. I don't see a way in which Amrabat wouldn't limit his involvement.
We prioritise it by making him fight for a starting spot, and learn from his seniors. It's up to him to prove that he's a world class talent who deserves to start.

You're most likely right, and we'll continue to get run over in the middle of the park as a result.

I know, poor Amrabat how must he feel. Having to wait in Florence, making thousands per week and all the while having to miss training to wait on a move. Horrifying.

This is just top notch catastrophising, keep it up.

I don’t understand why he must either be the messiah or championship quality. He is a good player, unreal engine, good on the ball and good defensively. He isn’t world class, he won’t get us 10 goals but we don’t need that, anyone who has watched our last three games knows that our biggest issue is getting overrun in midfield. Amrabat will help with that for now until we can find a longer term solution.

Not sure which take is naive, mine or yours. ETH was here last summer when we spent 100m on Antony who he coached for 2 years. Are you telling me that ETH can not veto a transfer when it's getting into ridiculous numbers? Or that ETH should not care? Manager is pretty much part of the recruitment department, by all accounts he is the one choosing the talent and profile, and by now it's been how many former players?

And by many accounts he was against the idea of Ragnick and therefor we got rid, whatever he supposed role would have been. So this idea of excluding him of any blame is pretty much ridiculous.
