So...what could Van Troll's Surprise be!? | LVG: "not a striker - it's something else"

Ballotelli

How bad was the relationship with Ibra? I've only read about it here and it's always they hate each other. Anyone have the real details?

Van Gaal is the boss at a club, anyone who disagrees instantly gets in his bad books. Zlatan doesn't like people like him so their personalities would clash from day 1. Zlatan called him an pompous arse and an arrogant humorless dictator. Zlatan didn't like the countless hours of tactical analyses one bit ('I've heard it all before') and always wanted to get away from van Gaal as quick as he could.

Koeman and van Gaal (as director) had a disagreement about playing Zlatan in the CL and what he should've been focussing on to improve his game. Van Gaal only wanted Zlatan in the CL because Ajax were leading in the Eredivisie by quite a margin, Koeman disagreed.

Well no, because he hasn't played in the 'premiership' yet. But he's done it in the league where he actually played, so you can't ask much more of him than that without involving time travel/alternative universes.

I actually think if you put aside preconceptions based on where he has mostly played until now, he has all the attributes of a top-class all-round striker. He's fast, powerful, a brilliant dribbler, a confident finisher from all ranges, can head the ball very well for a shorter player, and is good receiving the ball to feet and running onto it.

I mean, put aside the fact that he likes a shot from range, and he's basically Aguero.
I can see the comparison but Memphis isn't anywhere near Aguero technically, and probably never will be.

So "surprise"
Certainly sounds like a total non-starter

Welbeck - it'll be difficult to get Arsenal to sell him of course, but if we start the bidding at £30m then we might be able to get him for only a little more than what Mata cost.

Of course getting him to leave Arsenal might be more difficult - offering him Falcao's wages might be a start I guess, but convincing him to leave London for Manchester might be tougher than just offering money.

Wouldn't suprise me if we went for an attacking midfielder and made him play up front. The ST department and in all honesty; the availability of most players seems to have hit a block this transfer season.

I dont think Lewandowski is good enough to displace Rooney especially if van gaal's tactics is to play a forward like Rooney who will work hard & assist two goal scoring wingers like depay & mata.

The only reason i can even remotely see cavani working though is his experience at playing across the front 3; meaning at any point one of depay or mata cut in; the central striker will be able to overlap.

The Mirror are reporting that this is Bale. We would he devastating with that forward line plus Otemendi at the back (also reported in the same article).

Think it may be someone that's at a lower half team in the league

I've asked before but nobody has said yet. What is Bale's buyout clause? People keep saying 'Madrid will ask for this and that ', but I'm curious to know what the starting figure is for negotiation. Everyone is Spain has a clause, and if Bale's is south of £150m, I wouldn't rule out The Equaliser matching it, especially if we bag 60m odd for Di Maria.

It will then at least be down to just Bale then.

Doubt it's anywhere that low. Ronaldo's is a billion euros...

I've read places that it's £75m, but that doesn't sound right, other places say €1b, which could be true, Ronaldos is €1.5b

Benteke is still a possibility. Based on nothing at all, I still don't think that one is over yet. He'll be in no rush to sign for Liverpool, to see if an offer comes from elsewhere. He'd bin the scousers if a Champions League club came calling. I think we might have a look at him if there's no one better available.

I could be wrong however, and he could be photographed holding a Liverpool shirt by tomorrow afternoon, but I don't see a reason for him to rush anything.

This is what I was thinking. I'd also heard it was €100m (or £75m odd). If that were the case we'd have no issue meeting the clause I'd think.

I think that the clause is 1000m €, obviously nobody is going to reach that amount. About the price, Madrid used with Ramos something called "Di María scale", to calculate what to ask for a player:
annual salary before taxes offered for the destination club x years of contract, the result with Ramos was around 90 m€.
I imagine that with Bale , having label of galáctico that scale won´t be used. I would say it could go for 150 m € but who knows where is the limit in the price of players...

Bale would be amazing! Think he could do for us what Ronaldo has done for RM. Don't even want to get my hopes up though, cos it looks like RM themselves are trying to make Bale into the next Ronaldo

I'd be unable to express my feelings for Woodie and this transfer window if we manage to land Bale on top off all this.

I've been dreaming about him ever since he became good. He's a fast world-class welsh winger like Giggs. Him coming to us is just meant to be. It's just meant to happen.

He's the very best british player. The very best british players are supposed to be playing for Man United.

Bale's name being thrown around on lower reputable sites without any evidence. I won't complain if we sign him, it definitely soften the De Gea blow.

maybe we will try to offload di maria and de gea for bale. but i dont think it will work. madrid will not let him go. and i dont think he wants to leave at the moment either. benzema is possibile
