Memphis hasn't played in the Premiership, perhaps you mean in the Dutch league?

I'd call him a wide striker, he's certainly scored enough goals to be considered one. Would be interesting to see him up top alone. I've read on here that LVG calls the 4231 a 433, which suggests he sees the advanced wide players as strikers. If that's true.
 
What does he actually say?

* He's not worried about that position.
* We have Rooney, Chicharito and maybe Wilson. Maybe Wilson.
* And maybe a surprise.

Maybe Wilson will go on loan - and if he does, we'll bring someone in.

I doubt we're about to unveil Aguero as a "surprise" signing.
 
I hope it's Van Persie.
 
Muller, Ibra or CRonaldo - otherwise it's an anticlimax for me #justsayin
 
Ronaldo would make sense. We've clearly tried to bring him back in the past and he's rumored to be unhappy every other week. That goal record probably makes it unlikely though.

Depends what LVG decides we need. If he'd rather get a striker I'd dispute anyone saying Cavani isn't quality. All I've done is check his wiki page and 156 league goals in 303 league games. Just better than 1 in 2. That's quality.
 
I love surprises.

Unless it is when @rimaldo comes before he's given a heads up. Then it's not fun.

Nah maybe just bad wording. It's not his fault but yeah basically doing it in the Dutch league isn't proof of being able to do it in England. Just certain things LVG has said but to be fair it might be down to his bad English

By "suprise" I don't think he meant a player we all weren't expecting, i think he means we might buy a striker if a good ones comes available but its not for definite just yet so lets wait and see - but we all really know it is happening because we lost RVP and Falcao and only gained hernandez who should be leaving really.
 
We don't have a 20 goal a season striker. Rooney has only done it twice since he has been with us in 2009/10 and 2011/12. If you take those seasons away, his average premiership goals per season is 13. LVG is wanting more than that. Also Rooney's age is going against him now a tad. So it wouldn't surprise me if LVG and Woody have something they are working on.

EDIT: if it happens, I reckon it will be announced to coincide with the Adidas sponsorship deal...
