So let's talk about Eddie Howe....

Not seen his name mentioned much. Was talking to a mate in the pub about him and Poch. I wouldn't be upset if he got appointed if I'm honest. An obvious risk but the type of risk you want to take.

He plays the right brand of football for this club at least. That is only one criteria though

If Solskjaer does badly then I guess...what would be the point of getting rid of one punt for another otherwise though? You'd be appointing Pochettino as something of a known quantity at the top level though by contrast. Plus he might even be able to bring Eriksen and Son with him as an added bonus.

Without seeing the username thought this was a Spurs fan talking! Be interested to see what sort of appointment Levy makes anyway.

All going a bit wrong for Bournemouth. They had more shots, possession, higher dribble and pass success. Yet Wolves beat them 2-0.

I like the look of Wolves this season. Their results so far against the top 6 is impressive too:

Wolves 1 : 1 City
United 1 : 1 Wolves

Wolves 2 : 3 Tottenham
Arsenal 1 : 1 Wolves
Wolves 2 : 1 Chelsea

Wolves Transfers in Last 3 Seasons - €152,460,000
Bournemouth Transfers in Last 3 Seasons - €130,100,000

Anyway back to Bournemouth. They still have some pretty nasty fixtures coming up, could drop down the table fast.

Bournemouth back above Wolves already. That idiot Nuno losing to Klopp......;)

Interesting that Bournemouth and Wolves both have Spurs away over xmas so will see how each does.

His face and demeanour makes me think Tom Hanks and a bunch of cliched soldiers should be on their way to rescue him.

....from Gary Monk. Who looks like the sadistic Axis soldier later revealed as a coward.

I might be drinking

Lost 8 out of the last 10. Lots of goals conceded.

Still don’t see why anyone in their right mind would want him here. It’s Brenton all over again. One way of playing and at times it can be suicidal.

They’ve played:
Arsenal (H)
City (A)
Liverpool (H)
United (A)
Spurs (A)
Wolves (A)
Chelsea (A) - Cup

Fair enough they lost at Newcastle but beat Brighton and Huddersfield.

Think you should give the guy a break man...

I think you need to look at his whole career and where he has took Bournemouth.

Don’t they have a lot of injuries too?

One could say that Howe's bum rush football leads to higher chances of injury. And it would not be without substance either, as Bournemouth can have periods where they are unplayable and then look pub level once they run out of gas.

Francis and Cook who’d both start did their ACL in recent weeks. Horrible luck - it happened to us with Rojo and Zlatan and that wasn’t due to players running around.

Yes and they been averaging 3 or 4 goals a game in most of those games. They have the 5th worst defence in the league. You can reverse those fixtures to Wolves and they done a better job. Leicester just beat City and Chelsea under Puel. My problem is Bournemouth even at home never looked like getting a point let alone three points from those games.

Give him a break? He’s been over hyped for the job. You forgot to mention they lost to Newcastle in that period too and were very lucky to get 3 points vs Huddersfield who completely dominated them but obviously Huddersfield can’t score which is why they at the bottom.

Bournemouth are one of the teams I enjoy us playing in the league. I know they won’t make it difficult defensively and they’d play with a high line.

They have their usual honeymoon spell where they play well and everyone is saying Howe should get the England or any other top job that is available.

Like I said many times my criticism of Howe is he only knows one way of playing. He doesn’t bother changing up. All top managers know at times in a season you gonna have to be a bit more resilient and win games ugly.

This is simply not true. ACL injuries aren't a blanket pot luck type of injury, it depends completely on the circumstance of the injury. Zlatan's injury was pure luck because he just landed badly on his foot, this could have happened playing basketball with his mates.

ACL injuries in motion can absolutely be caused by fatigue both in the short term and long term. If a player plays with a compromised knee joint, it will absolutely increase the chances of an injury. This is quite common in football as players often get icing/painkillers on certain areas before a game or during half time just so they can play.

Basically every injury type sees a spike in occurrences during this congested fixture schedule. It's been a big stumbling block for fitness coaches in this league. Not to mention Bournemouth have an injury crisis every season. If memory serves correct they had injured players in the double figures at one point last season, it's not luck.

And your point is?

Chris Hughton has done the same with Brighton. They should stay up this year. Three seasons in the prem with Brighton comfortably. Should we have a thread discussing him for a big job? Shall we look at his whole career and where he took Brighton.

Funny thing is I hate playing against Brighton because I know they will make it awkward and difficult for us.

This is spot on to be honest. If Bournemouth didn't play teams of the park every 4-5 games he wouldn't even be in the conversation. The only thing he has going for him is that he can set up his teams to attack with reckless abandon.

I've been much more impressed by Hughton to be honest. He has shown some very good tactical performances against big teams.

Hughton brought Brighton up from League 1 and he's doing a great job, but Howe has turned a team from the bottom of League 2 into one of the top 12 teams in the country for the past 2 seasons. It's a bit more eyecatching is it not?

Nuno Santo has done a better job and knows how to play the big games .

Managing teams at the bottom means nothing when it comes to playing against the top teams .

People said Ole was a crap manager and didn't want him because of his time at Cardiff . That meant absolutely nothing to how he would perform at United and he is showing that .

I just don't get this weird thing Eddie Howes fans have about how he should manage Utd because he did well at league 2. It's crazy

To be fair Wolves spent considerably more than Bournemouth.

Yes that's what would happen at Utd too . Would you not prefer a manager that knows how to spend money well and beat the big teams ?

I don’t get your point. Of course he’d spend more money at United. Wolves are considerably richer than Bournemouth, who IIRC are one of the poorest clubs in the league.

Wolves were also capable of getting players other championship clubs wouldn't have been able to, Neves and a host of others come from the connection Mendes has with the club.

Exactly they’ve benefited hugely from that too.

He didn't just do well in League Two though. He did great in League One, he did great in the Championship, now he's doing great with what he's got to work with in the Premier League. I don't really know what much more you expect him to be doing to prove himself.

He's clueless defensively and in the transfer market. Would love if it we got Poch and he replaced him at Spurs, that'd be the end of them for a while.

It's like clockwork with Howe and Bournemouth.

They go on a mazy run with a few brilliant results, everyone hypes them up...then they go on an even mazier losing run, flirting with relegation spots...before finding an average form and finishing lower midtable.

Their recruitment since promotion has been nothing short of shocking. Their backline is still mid-table championship quality and that's why they get a handful of hidings year after year.

He has just signed Dom Solanke for £20M when he already has Wilson and King who are lead the line strikers, Wilson especially who is great. He now has 3 similar strikes playing for 1 position.

How does the board approve such madness.

Maybe they're planning to sell one. I know Defoe is gone and rumors saying Chelsea want Wilson.

Are people seriously considering Eddie Howe as a potential/future United manager? Just asking.

Looks like 11th loss in 13 games.

Finally can put this flavor of the month to bed?

Put what to bed? Its the football forum are people not allowed to talk about him?
His work is over 9 years, taking them from league two on the brink of administration to a mid table PL team. How does that make him the flavor of the month?

Flavor of the month are your Marco Silvas of this world that people froth over a few months of work

He's made quite a few expensive (at the time) youth orientated transfers which haven't turned out well... Tyrone Mings, Jordon Ibe, some Liverpool LB called Brad something.

Howe is good but I think it's the personel that lets him down. Guys like Gosling etc need upgrading.
