So let's talk about Eddie Howe....

Howe is good but I think it's the personel that lets him down. Guys like Gosling etc need upgrading.

He definitely too loyal. Theres still a few guys around when he was playing...

I believe there are still 5 or 6 players that are still in the squad when they were in league one. To be able to comfortably maintain PL status is pretty impressive with those type of level of players, but they need to invest in better quality sooner or later

Put what to bed? Its the football forum are people not allowed to talk about him?
His work is over 9 years, taking them from league two on the brink of administration to a mid table PL team. How does that make him the flavor of the month?

Flavor of the month are your Marco Silvas of this world that people froth over a few months of work
Of him managing United.

He has done a pretty good job for a team like Bournemouth but he’s far from being able to cut it at top club at the moment.

He may be a little too loyal to some of the guys in the team possibly. He has done a tremendous job at Bournemouth, and a few of the players have have been their for a while, perhaps he will become a bit ruthless as he gets older. He may not have the same feelings to the players if he joined another club, and therefore would be a better manager for that.

In fairness when they have spent it's not worked that well a lot the time (Lerma has done well admittedly) which means he has gone back to the tried and tested.

He's made quite a few expensive (at the time) youth orientated transfers which haven't turned out well... Tyrone Mings, Jordon Ibe, some Liverpool LB called Brad something.

Telling that Mings is considered one of his expensive signings. £8 mill in 2015!

Playing a style of Football they play with the budget they have consistency will be hard to come by. It is a miracle this side is in the PL in the first place.

Howe signed the personel!

Got him a couple of promotions.

Just me that thought Bournemouth played pretty well today? O.K Everton are lacking confidence and it was a scrappy game but first 10 minutes Brooks should've had a penalty (clipped in the box), he also hit the post when through and there was another scramble which Pickford saved on the line.

Second half Everton came into it more but I thought Andre Gomes was very lucky not to get sent off, did a late foul when on a yellow.

Bournemouth will finish 10-12th on 45-50 points as usual.

For the likes of Bournemouth, Swansea etc. yes. Teams that are expected to win feck all.

I see, that's why Ole failed at Cardiff, it's because they're expected to win feck all.
Howe is the better manager.

thought they played really well in the first half. Everton improved in the second half, but all in all I felt Bournemouth should have got more out of the game.

Howe has done a massive job there and certainly deserves a chance at a bigger club. I feel they always play the "right" way too, aggressive and attacking.

Howe has done well with almost no resources compared to us but he will get overlooked because of his clubs and his Britishness. I think Brit coaches need to go overseas to get that wider experience before trying for a top club in the prem.

Ole failed spectacularly at Cardiff. Does that mean he can only manage United level clubs? Not sure how Howe could do better at Bournmouth. I've no idea if he could be successful at a better club. But I'd say he's certainly earned a shot somewhere.

Howe is the better manager.

Solskjær took an average team and delivered their first league titles in their 100 year history. With an annual budget of barely £9m he has won an EL group of death featuring Ajax, Fenerbache and Celtic. Also beat the eventual winners Sevilla that year. Teams that Molde really have no rights to beat. They were unlucky not to make it this year after dominating Zenit and deserving to go through. The fact that Molde even are competing with Rosenborg domestically, who financially are on a different level, is totally down to Solskjær.

Howe has done an exceptional job building the club and has been a breath of fresh air ever since he came in. I admire him and his playing style (although can be a bit naive at times) and we need more guys like him in the PL so that dinosaurs like Warnock, Moyes, Hughes etc. can feck off.

My point isn't that Howe doesn't deserve a shot at a bigger club. My point is that Solskjær is a much better fit for the United job than Howe because of his United connection and the start that he has had. Ole is synonymous with United. There is no way Howe should even be on par with Ole for this particular job.

As for who is the better manager, it's a matter of opinion really. Both have done exceptional things in their managerial careers. Better manager doesn't necessarily equal better fit for the United job.

I think that's a really good post, well argued.

Sometimes a club and manager just suit each other.

Moyes and Everton was a perfect match. We both know what he was like elsewhere and how Everton changed once he left.

Pulis and Stoke could be another

Lads, we have some injuries and we are away to a much better team known for destroying teams with a high line. So let's keep it right and be difficult to break down.
No, not this guy, it's all or nothing, go big or go home. His game management is abysmal. Six of thier last seven losses have been by at least two goals. He knows nothing about keeping things tight.
Naive cnut.

Saw them getting thumped by Liverpool a mile off. Such a naive way of playing away against the top teams in the league.

Said it before in here before his supporters shouted down at me about money and other stupid stuff.

They were the perfect opponents for Liverpool today. They were never going to make it difficult or hard to be broken down. They just too easy to play against. Yeah they look good in attacking at times and I’d give credit to Howe for that. But in some games you got to especially away from home to tighten up.

He obviously watched Roma's tactics for playing a CL semi final first leg away beforehand. ;)

For Bournemouth it dosen't really matter tbh.

They are still comfortably 11th on 33 points with many winnable games to come in their last 10.

I get the naive thing but guess Howe just wants to keep that attacking mentality for all games so Bournemouth don't drift into negative mindset that would mean dropped points in the more winnable fixtures.

And as we've seen on occasions it does work against top teams as we saw v Chelsea recently.

They'll finish in top 10 imo as they did in 16/17 (last season they had same number of points as 10th but worse GD).

Bar a better cup run I'm not sure more what he could be doing, you're talking about a smallish team that comfortably stays up every season playing good modern football.

Maybe he could take more points off the better teams but Claude Puel regularly does that and all of Leicester wants him sacked.

Yep, fully in your camp on this one. Not to mention Clyne couldn’t play and no Wilson, no party.

Anyone who wanted him to be Manchester United manager needs to be banned from watching football forever

Because the only two options are being wide open and digging in for a point.

Only two teams have claimed a point at Anfield this season, Man. City and Leicester. Would you want Claude Puel?!

It's just not a fixture you can judge a manager on imo and it's not a result that will impact on their season much, everyone sees how far ahead the top 6 are nowadays. They're in their own league.

Exactly.

Honestly think if Everton ditch Silva end of season they'll go for Howe.

That's probably the sort of job he'll get when he eventually leaves Bournemouth. Either that or go abroad and manage.

Only top club I can see having a look would be Spurs due to how well Pochettino worked out coming from similar part of the league but that depends on Poch actually moving.

This!
Klopp apparently praised this idiot for sticking to his principles (playing attacking open football) in the match day programme.
So I presume Eddie didn't want to disapoint him.
I'm sure Klopp had the best bottle of wine waiting for him after the match and there nice cosy chat went something like this;

Klopp ' well played Eddie, I thought you were going to do something stupid and play defensive and give us no space'

Eddie 'oh no way Mr Klopp, I would never be that naive. That thought didn't even cross my mind'

Klopp 'cheers'

Eddie 'cheers Mr Klopp'.

Klopp really thinking 'thick bastard'
Eddie really thinking 'please bend over'

I'm not judging him on this fixture, the fact that it was plain to see they would get a pasting means i judged it one what they do when they play away. We thumped them 4-1, Spurs 5-0, Burnley 4-0, Everton and Cardiff 2-0 away - who are hardly in good form. When they go away, they don't even try to play clever and get punished.

They also won at West Ham, won 4-0 at Bournemouth, 3-0 at Fulham.... Wolves also lost at Cardiff.

Mid table team in being shite away from home shock.

Thing with away in premier league is top 6 hardly ever lose home games and when they do it tends to be to each other (Arsenal only lost to Man City in the league, Man United only actually lost to Spurs at OT under Mourinho despite all the doom and gloom) so you're talking of 13 other venues where you can realistically win at and 3-4 of those will have very strong home records like Stoke and Burnley in recent years.

Cardiff have beaten Fulham, Wolves, Southampton and Brighton at home before Bournemouth so that suggests they raise themselves for home games v mid table teams as they obviously need to win those to stay up.

Looking at what Bournemouth have left I give them wins over Huddersfield, Newcastle, Burnley, Fulham and a shock win over Spurs. Two draws on top and they get to 50 points and 8th or 9th position. So for them poor away form dosen't matter unless you're expecting them to post a 60 + season or something.

He seemingly can't coach a defense. His teams concede them by the bucket load.

Marco Silva is a good example of someone who had questions about his teams defending even before he got bigger jobs. The trend continued elsewhere.

I sincerely hope isn't a contender for the United job.
