Not the sort of signing we're gonna make but he could be vital to a team like Tottenham.

I'd like to hear from the Noggies what they think of Fjortoft. He talks so much shit that it's really unbelievable that anyone with any knowledge anywhere would tell him anything.

I was all for us to get him in summer 2011, he would have been perfect for us then, but 2 and a half years on, he's now 29, and although that's not that old, he's well past his best. He can put in great performances now and then, but he's not as good as Rooney obviously, or Kagawa in the #10 position. He couldn't play in center mid in the premier league either, especially not as a deeper player the way he is now.

According to the currant bun he is ready to take a pay cut and come to United.

The Mirror are reporting it too. Have no idea what his current form is, but as a stop-gap, and somebody trying to play his way into the World Cup team, he surely can offer something we're lacking between now and the summer?

Great signing that could push us towards top 3. We need goals and he offers south creativity.

If we don't sign him, this rumour is never going to go away. It's the only way to put an end to it. We have to sign Sneijder. We just have to. Put him on an 8 year contract, so hopefully he will retire before it ends. That way he can never leave, and we can never be linked with SNEIJDER TO RETURN TO UNITED.

Make it stop.

He's been quite good for Galatasary this year apparently, and from what iv'e seen in the CL he looks good. Certainly not the form he was in during his first few years at Inter, but certainly a lot better than he was after Mourinho left.

Wesley Sneijder 'ready to take £1 million a year pay cut to join Manchester United

The 29-year-old Netherlands midfielder is hoping to make a £10 million switch from Galatasaray next month

Wesley Sneijder is reportedly prepared to take a £1 million a year pay cut to join Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder is hoping to make a £10 million switch to Old Trafford from Turkish club Galatasaray in January.

And according to The Sun, he is willing to see his take home pay drop from £4 million to £3 million a year.
Sneijder is said to be frustrated at Galatasaray.

The 29-year-old is also understood to be worried about his place in the Netherlands side at next year's World Cup.

The transfer forum wouldn't the same without this story!

so are people saying he can only play as a number 10 correct? i dont think so at all but i could be wrong? ive memories of him playing centrally. we'll need a squad to compete in cups and league so people need to stop trying to fit any new potential signing into the "first XI" which is something we havent had since about 2006

The way it's going, he'll still be linked with us even if we do sign him.

That seems to be the concern, and it's bollocks. He can play centre midfield absolutely no problem, in fact it'd probably suit him more to drop deeper as he enters this stage of his career. Like a certain Paul Scholes, anyone remember him? I don't know how people can write off Sneijder for us having seen Scholes the past five or so years.

I agree. I do think the fellaini signing has hindered things to. i like fellaini but it looks like we might not use him that much and have spent 27.5m on him. The amount hes been available we could have gotten to january without him, at which point signing sneijder would have been seen as a more accpetable stop gap option.

Interestingly enough I think we'll see definite step ups in Fellaini's performances alongside a creative midfielder taking responsibility for the ball in the centre of the pitch.

He's one of those sorts of players that has worldbeater-type performances when the team around him is clicking. His best years were in a fantastic Inter side 3 years ago when the team was one of its finest, which then got him performing brilliantly for Holland in South Africa too. This United side offensively is the best he could be playing with out of the past 5 years-worth of teams he has played for (domestically) so I can see him lined up with Fellaini or Carrick as holding midfielder, and that could keep our team ticking along nicely. If he wants to cut his wages to come here too then I am all for it, if we fail to get in any quality CM for the long term like Herrera, Gundogan etc.

I'm sure he can do a decent job in central midfield against "weak opposition", but I've never been impressed with Sneijder in this role. At Real Madrid, he had his chance, but his positional sense and defending let him down massively when playing as a central midfielder.

Motes said he'd only sign players that could stay in the team for 5 or 6 years. Simply nit happening.

World Cup year has a habit of transforming a players form tho...

Sneijder would be awesome...he would be that feel good factor signing that the club needs and of course he could dtop deeper to play in central midfield....people say well it didnt work for Anderson and Kagawa but between them they have only had one good season at the top when kagawa excelled in his final season in Dortmund......Singing sneijder would keep RVP happy too which is what we badly need now

I really can't see sneijder tracking back to help his partner in midfield, or battling away there, just don't think he's a cm, and as for RVP, pretty confident they're not exactly on great terms.

Well Sneijder and Kebab will be the only available options in january that would be able to connect the no.6 position with the no.10....we simply won't be getting Koke or Gundogan in January so if not Sneijder then I guess it will probably be Kebab

If we're gonna try sneijder in cm then we may as well try kagawa there first.

He may not be what he was but neither is our MF. He'll certainly raise the standard of what we have.

Plus Scholes was always up for the battle in the middle and happy to do his fair share defensively. He may have had some dodgy to say the least tackles in him but he could make a challenge when he wanted to and usually took up good defensive positions. Being willing to get stuck in is a big part of it and just not sure senijder would want to. We've spent to long with projects in central midfield in recent times, if we're going to add there lets add someone who knows the role and wants to play there.
