Great graphic

For me we peaked with Thiago

Did anyone actually believe we might sign Fabregas, Ronaldo or Paul

All joking aside Sneijder could do a job playing deep alongside a strong partner like Carrick/Fellaini

He is certainly a playmaker

I can see him turning at a club like Everton but certainly not United.

Fabregas - I genuinely thought was possible, he'd have fitted nicely into our setup and been loved by the fans as a natural Paul Scholes replacement. I thought that by choosing to stay with Barcelona he was turning down a guaranteed first team place.

Ronaldo - Well, we melt down about this every year :D The sudden vacancy of the #7 shirt and the false sighting of him at Manchester airport certainly stirred this up. I really wasn't convinced and don't think anyone really thought it could happen, but we all like to believe.

Paul - sorry, who's Paul? :)

haha

Ozil is Paul according to my phone I think

Sounds promising:

Luis Van Gaal insists Galatasaray star Sneijder will not regain the honour - nor his place in the starting XI - until he improves his physical condition. "He wasn't fully fit and he hasn't been fit for a whole year," Van Gaal told SBS6. "You could see that on the pitch. As long as he isn't in shape, he can't be in the team and he can't be captain."

Round is a shape.

Just sign him so we don't have to hear the rumours every window.

Does he work in a 2 man midfield? Can't remember, but If so then I would take him, especially if the reported acceptance to drop his wages to £1 mil a year is true, that's nothing. Would be a short term fix at least.

Isn't he more an AM or even winger than a CM? I keep thinking of him as an Iniesta type of player - very good player also, but not a CM. Am I mistaken?

You've not seen that much of Sneijder?

He's definitely best as a "AM" in a 3 man midfield but can occupy the role in a 2 man midfield IMO. He's just hardly had to play there so I'm not quite sure how "good" he can be.

Anyway, not the level of player we should be looking at for that CM spot.

Cant see an out of shape Wesley putting in the running needed in a 442. Especially next to Carrick.

Also, pretty sure the muppet meltdown was over Tiago, then re-peaked on deadline day over Herrera.

I can't fathom why anybody would still want us to sign Wesley. He's an AM, so no he wouldn't do a very good job in a midfield two. And from what I've heard he's pretty out of shape and out of form since moving to Turkey. At his peak, aye, he would have been a good (albeit not really necessary) signing, but now, it would be utterly pointless.

I don't think he'd be a bad loan signing or bargain buy to be honest. As long as we don't spend much on him and sign him on a short performance based contract. Something for him to play for.

Wow!!! 9th in the league but we still don't want Sneijder. Poor creativity and lack of goals but still no to Sneijder. let him come and do his magic.
