Smashley Young

I came in to slag him, but that's a great gesture!

 Everytime I see this thread bumped I can't wait to have another dig at him and say how I hope he doesn't play for us again (did it again!) but that is a good gesture. I'm sure he's a good person off the pitch though, as plenty of them probably are.

True. From memory Fergie said that he is a really nice guy. Could be a factual error though.

But yes, hopefully the fan and his family get their wish.

I am surprised at the demise of Young, it does appear that he cannot handle the pressure which goes along with playing for Manchester United.

feck sake, typical Young, doing something to make people like him.

I mean seriously, where the hell does this guy get off?

He gets the stick from his own fans & that could be a difficult one to take. Valencia stank up the whole joint albeit after a lfor a full season in one period albeit after a nasty leg injury & fans supported him. Young came back from injury and after few poor games, fans turned on him. I still don't see how Valencia is better than Young but 90% of football fans(not only United fans) would tell you Young is crap.

He's a counter-attacking machine, runs with a purpose, can shoot & score from outside the box and he's not as mechanical or one track-minded like Valencia. Valencia to me has nothing to offer apart from pace. He beats defenders & deliberately slows down so they catch up with him & then aims their feet to get a corner/throw-in.

It's now obvious playing Rafael behind him was the reason he had a glorious spell at a point. Rafael makes Valencia 80% better in output. The overlapping runs Rafael makes distract Valencia's markers thus improving the accuracy of his crosses. I can't wait to have Rafael back. Our wing play for now stinks to the heavens.

In yer bedroom? :D

I'll do better next time, I promise.

I've always felt he comes across as a very likeable character. He's behaved like a tosser on the pitch with his stupid diving. We know he can do better, but I think he will find it easier at another club.

Every time I see this thread I remember cider's 30+ goals and assists hilarity...and I smile.

I would pay good money to never have to watch Ashley Young again.

I would sack Moyes for a sole reason if he fails to get rid of him by the summer. I would put him up there with Bebe as the worst United player I have seen at this club. I know he hasn't featured much before this game, but he has made one average bit of contribution to 10 dreadful ones.

Should be put of his misery and never played for United again.

The lob was an absolute banker, and he should have at least got on target with the other shot, but he's not doing too badly.

Not being excellent seems to be his main crime.

I'd pay a team 5m to take him off our hands, he's that useless.
He'd be decent for villa, like he was before. He's stealing a living at united though.

Some people in the matchday thread need to re-evaluate their lives with some of the comments they're making about him. He's not even been that bad.

For the record I think he's a decent little footballer who's clearly got absolutely no confidence. Needs that little bit of luck and he'll be back to his best.

His 'crime' is being an absolutely diabolical footballer.

He's not been that bad today. One of our more positive players.

It says something that missing two chances one-on-one with the keeper counts as not that bad, I suppose. Should've put away the first one.

The lob, I'd have understood if the weight was a bit too much and it went over but how did he put it wide ? The entire goal was open, once he decided to take it he had to score. His second chance, I don't understand why he decided to control and then shoot it with his weaker foot when it was set up beautifully for him on his right.

You know he's lacking in confidence when he didn't take that late shot on with his right foot, that was set up perfectly for a curler.

I don't even know what to say about that dinking effort, even you and I would have scored that.

We didn't even see half of the footage where he was losing the ball. Every play involving him either was a badly missed shot, a poor cross or he passes 20 yards back. No movement forward and hopeless.

Poor ball from Rooney. The pass was short and Young had to break stride. No excuse for how bad the final effort was though. He hasn't been that bad. Nani certainly wouldn't be getting the same stick for that performance but it's still not good enough for a player who is on his last legs.

Because Nani is more creative, and would've scored one of those chances. Talented creative players get more leeway. That's how it works.

If I was Moyes, I'd like to see if we could play the whole second half pretending the side of the pitch with Young and Buttner on it didn't exist. At the very least it'd be an interesting training exercise.

Waldner's comment is one of the most balanced on here.

Fans have to have a whipping boy, and as Rooney's in form, and Fellaini's not around, Young auto becomes it!

This post probably didn't get the attention it needed in the other thread you posted it in. It's fecking hilarious.
