Smashley Young

It was a correct decision back then. Both yellows he got were fair, admittedly he was provoked by van Bommel who fouled him twice on the first occasion but that doesn't give him the right to lash back.

The first yellow was for a foul on Badstuber I thought, who should have been booked well before Rafael was. And the 2nd yellow was very soft

I thought it was van Bommel but it doesn't matter. 2nd was for stopping a counter attack, it's a yellow more often than not. No complaints really. :)

Quite sure it was for a foul on Badtuber.

I have not read anything Moyes has said post the midweek game regarding Ashley Young, but after the theatrics earlier this season, my first thought was that he'd played his last game.So little game time since that incident and he has been made an example of, and I can't see how he is worth all the bad press that is being directed at him and the club as a result. If he was a top player then you could maybe see why they'd persevere but he's awful! He won't start again for us and will be sold in January.

Ferguson's book talks about Young and his diving. And how he eradicated it from his game. He's made Fergie look a plonker, has Young.

Thought he was better today.

He was on the bench because every player on the pitch and the bench is a lot better than him. Nothing to do with the diving.

Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini will look to bring Manchester United outcast Ashley Young to Turkey in the January transfer window after he placed the winger on his transfer shortlist, according to the Daily Express.

I'm off to Turkey in Jan so I don't mind paying for another flight for Ashley. Come on Mancini, do it!

For all the shit he gets, I will still remember him fondly for the performance in the 8-2 and that brace against Spurs.

It's what fustrates fans most. He can own that part of the pitch, that inside left channel near the box. When he is switched on and has the goal on his mind, he can provide great moments, there is no doubting that. However, these days, when he gets the ball in that area of the pitch, his first thought is how can he win a foul.

This. I'm sure Fergie would have sorted things out with his hairdryer. Moyes out!

For all the players we have who we expect and expected more from Young is certainly not one of them. If anything he may be one of the players that gives the fans exactly what they expect every time he steps on the pitch.

He will not shock anybody, positively or negatively, he will do a good defensive work, get dominated by the opponents right back all game and will try to cut in to whip in hit-and-miss crosses unless he passes to someone else.

Could you explain the moments we were talking about. The very good goals. Were they mis-hit? Or was Harry Potter out there helping?

I personally enjoy watching Young play. He's a good counter-attacking player who would be more suited to a system that had more movement in it. Like Kagawa Valencia and Nani, he's struggled with our current system.

You mean his dives...he is quite good at it now!

Even the broken watch is correct twice a day (or something like that).

He has had about 5 good games in United shirt (and one excellent one). That's all we can say good about him in his two and a half years he has been here.

One of the rare times I completely agree with Annahnomoss, Young doesn't surprise anyone. We all expect him to give bad performances, not score, not make assists, make bad crosses and dive. He never fails to fullfill those expectations. IMO he is a worse player than other Caf favorites, Ando and Buttner and should be the first one to get moved.

Masochist!

how can you enjoy watching someone like young? his dribbling isnt great, he doesnt beat players, he doesnt have a great eye for a pass. nothing enjoyable about anything he does.

I dont agree with your second point either. Unlike Nani and Kagawa(to a much greater extent), he doesnt seem well suited to a more fluid system either.

He obviously is, Varun. Everybody said when he arrived that he would make a useful deputy no.10, and whilst I disagreed with that point then and still do now, it's clear that he's a player that wants to drift inside, and looks uncomfortable being told by Moyes that he can't do that.
