Smashley Young

This stat made me laugh - Times dispossessed - 0.

He was the only player today, bar defenders, that City didn't dispossess. Which would back up noodle's idea that City just let him get on with it

He's an abomination of a footballer.

If you fancy a laugh, read on.....here are his stats from today....

15 passes
60% pass accuracy

2 Crosses
0% accuracy

0 Shots

0 Successful dribbles

25 Touches (Even less then DDG ffs )

That reads like one of Steve's parody posts.

He's an abomination of a footballer.

Because he was that scared of them that he quickly kicked the ball away before they could get to him. Absolute coward of a player.

Just look at his offensive stats....look at them....he's pathetic. He literally didn't attempt anything today.

I would rather have play Bebe than watch Young chicken out.
I have started feeling bad for him as it is the manager's fault that he is still being played as a left winger. He might be better on the right, so that he doesn't have to move inside to even cross or behind the striker (however we have much better players for that)'t

Sell him in the January window please! I don't want to hate him and then feel sorry for him

I hate him as a footballer. He's a shite player and a serial diver who always tries to make the most out of the smallest things as well. It's actually embarrassing seeing him out on the pitch for us. Definitely not fit to wear the United shirt.
I used to think he was a decent squad player for us but feck me he's become so irritating this season. On a completely different wavelength to the rest of the team, and he has about 5 good games a season total. He really was a terrible purchase for us.

And thats being generous.

Would be fine if he was just a squad player but he seems to be keeping better players out of the team. He is a very ordinary player by our standards.

I dont think he's even good enough to be a squad player. He doesn't offer anything.

He's pointless. I expect he'll do a Park when we eventually sell him, i.e go to a lower end team with the expectations of looking good there, but looking equally as useless.

It's not even that he's shit, he's an absolute pussy too. I've never seen him try to win a fecking header or commit to a tackle, he's not worthy of being a Utd player in any capacity.

Now that you mention that, I think the first time I saw him try was just a few weeks ago. He ducked out at the last second.

He's only been here two years? Feels like forever

This is his third year, isn't it?

You can kind of keep track of his tenure at the club by the increasing quality/number of wide players/forwards he pisses off each year.

Year One: Park
Year Two: Nani
Year Three: Kagawa, quite possibly Januzaj and Zaha; hell, maybe even Hernandez just for good measure. Oh, and probably Nani again.
Year Four: O.G. departs club, leaves suicide note. Body never found.
Year Five: Please god no.

:lol: He's like as useless as Downing was for Liverpool.
His level is probably a team a mid table premier league team. At best.
We paid 18 million euros for this sack of shit

Any one of Giggs, Welbeck, Nani, Rooney or Kagawa could've done a better job. Even Cleverley.

I think that despite not having played for the last year and being a bit overweight, I can do a better job than Young. Seriously thing that bar thefirst half of 2010-2011 season, he has been on Bebe and Miller level. Atrocius horrible footballer who at the moment isn't worthy playing in EPL let alone in EPL champions.

In his last 22 appearances for United in the PL, Ashley Young has 0 goals and 3 assists.

This puts Cider's claims he'll have 30 assists+goals this season into perspective.

I think Cider might be the worst poster in these forums. Which is saying something.

I feel I'm really laying into Young atm...its just....I can't stand the useless cnut anymore.

Which is one half of a career longer than Young.

Park was fantastic for many years for us, by far a better player then Young.

But my original point is that when Park went to QPR people expected him to be great for them and stand out, but it turned out what we saw by the end at United was what he was, and that he had found his level. I think that will happen with Young eventually too.

Same with the likes of Kieran Richardson, Gibson, etc. There were always people who were shocked that some people could dare claim that these guys weren't actually United quality, nor likely ever would be. Of course, with them we had the excuse that they were young talented players. What is the purpose of Young? He's not going to get any better.

He's 28 now as well. I doubt we'll be able to get more then 5m or so for him in January. Still would be worth it because of the ridiculous wages alone.

He's a good midtable player and that's about it, moyes for some reason clearly likes him, nani is on another level, and i'd rather we even start zaha at least he'll gain some experience and get better.

He's our Downing. He's a good player, just like Downing (better than Downing), but the place is too big for him. He can't make the step up.

I think Young is way out of his depth here, but I do think he is being unfairly chastised in general on this forum. I think his lack of ability masks some other fundamental problems with our whole style/set-up. We need to modernise our approach. We need runners, movement, and not this dreadful, one-paced unit style we adopt.

In terms of movement and cohesiveness, we are behind just about every local and domestic rival I can think of. We have won largely because we have good players, and have had a great manager. Aside from that, we know nothing but to lethargically pass the ball like statues from one side of the pitch to another, and then cross the ball in. Young not playing would be a start, but will not be the solution on it's own.

who would buy him? he's on £100k+ a week and United won't subsidise his wages, surely?
It would be worth it if it meant getting rid of him. Absolutely useless waste of space. My spirits sank when I saw him coming out of the tunnel.

He has the talent, I don't really know why he's not producing. I hope he can turn it round but I would rather see any of our other midfielders start ahead of him at this point.

Are you sure you want to release on a free transfer?

Yes/No

The only good thing about him is that Arsenal always buys him for 20m at the start of the season on football manager  There is no other positive to him at all.

I'm sure every United fan felt the same.

I don't think the Glazers would subsidise the wages of a player they sold because other clubs would want a similar arrangement in the future with other players, like City experienced.

He's alright as a 4th choice backup winger, but shouldn't be starting ahead of Nani or Kagawa.

Was awful today.

One curious point, without confirming this by checking stats - but I am sure that Moyes has had to haul Young off the pitch in every game due to him not performing, yet he still starts him.

Should be 7th choice winger really. Nani, Kagawa, Valencia, Welbeck, Januzaj, Zaha should all be ahead of him in the pecking order. They've all shown more then he ever has either just in pre-season, or little sub appearances, or from last season.
