Smashley Young

I've never minded him that much and always thought he had a place here as a squad player.

It's got to the stage now though where I'd be happy enough if he was sold purely so he wouldn't start big matches. We have much better options than him.

 It happened about 10 times today, he'd been in hoards of space on the far left in his 'Ashley Young designated zone' and city were like "its cool, he's shit" and judging by how little our players passed to him, they were probably thinking the same.

Sadly this is true. The whole fecking country and much of the world knows he can't fecking play football.

Yes he's had his moments in the past, but lets face the facts. He's been consistently shit every time he's featured. If he starts, the rest of the team have to work harder to cover for him.

I hate the way he gets the ball back to goal, sticks his arse out then puts his foot on the ball and keeps doing that until he has taken the ball 20 yards nearer our own goal before passing to one of the defenders.

I think he's the first United player that I actually hate with a passion.

I don't hate him. But feck me, I hate the way he's plays football.

He's stealing a living. How on earth he's ended up at United is anybody's guess. They're are countless wingers in the league, and across europe that are better then him. I reckon someone with a good knowledge of European football could knock together a list of at least 30 better wingers.

Have United not noticed that every opposition team he plays against has started leaving him in space and getting tight to everyone else, because they know we'll give him the ball and he wont be good enough to do anything with it?

Why do our own coaching staff never fecking see what's staring them in the face until about 2 months after the opposition have started captialising on it every week?

I thought he'd be useful on the break today but as soon as City scored he may as well have been hooked off....and yet he stays on after half time. Can anyone explain why?

I'm starting to get physical pains in my chest and stomach when I think about him being on the pitch.

:lol::lol::lol:

All very valid points.

Ciderman actually admitted in the console fanboy thread that he actively tries to challenge the popular view, so whether it's for attention, the sake of argument, to improve debating skills or whatever, I'm guessing this Young business is no different.

The thing is he'll continue with this nonsense about how everyone else is poor at observing talent/skill/ability until he finally realises that Young isn't that good, and then he'll play it off as some hilarious joke. It's clearly not the case though. He's just looked at Young's stats at Villa and decided those stats will inevitably improve at United alongside better players...because there's seriously no way anyone can watch him and think he's a top player.

Probably. I don't think any of it has been born out of any genuine consideration or experience of Ashley Young as a player pre-United, whatever the reason.

Young was hopeless out there today. He just offers so little. He's an England international, he shouldn't completely chicken out of every match he plays.

Peterstorey called this one bang on when we signed him. I'm afraid he's a better judge of players than the blind followers on here.

This. He doesnt have the mentality to play for a big club. Always takes the soft option-goes down when anybody touches him. Would much prefer to see him ride tackles(or even slight touches) and drive on and not be such a wimp.

I just cant get my head round it ,Kagawa is better, Nani is better,JanuZaj although inexperienced (but with more games )will be better, alex buttner is better wilfried Zaha i am sure is better ,there no excuses ,I am in no way blaming him for todays defeat it was more than him .Its just that i dont get it.

If you fancy a laugh, read on.....here are his stats from today....

15 passes
60% pass accuracy

2 Crosses
0% accuracy

0 Shots

0 Successful dribbles

25 Touches (Even less then DDG ffs )

I've just realised Ashley Young makes absolutely no sense as a player.

You generally have two types of wide players. The type who will go on the outside to get crosses into the box, and the type who come inside to try and play through the middle or go directly for goal.

Ashley Young comes inside...in order to cross the ball. THis makes absolutely no sense as the whole point of crossing the ball is that you're out wide so have an angle. There's literally no benefit at all to cutting inside to cross the ball. It makes it near impossible to put in a dangerous area, and it means players can't run on to it as you end up behid them so they have their backs to goal.

It's basically the opposite to taking the ball right out to the touchline in order to have a shot. i.e. it's utterly fecking retarded.

This is why I don't understand why we don't just play him on the right if we HAVE to play him. The ony plausable reason to play him otherwise is so he can track back, except he doesn't really do that either.

It's like god has deliberately designed a completely useless type of footballer,

As I've said as a squad player he's fine, and him playing in a team where the other attackers are doing well isn't bad, but when he's playing poor and also played with probably our two other least creative/goal threatening attackers in Welbeck and Valencia than it's a big issue.

Young tried hard to impress (trying to pass forwards) and ended up doing even worse than usual by doing so.

In fact, is that why we play him?

Do we think we're being clever by throwing some kind of curve ball?

"look, we're playing Ashley Young. He's unconventional. Opponents wont know what to do about him!"

Except opponents do know what to do about him...leave him in loads of space and just let him get on with it,

And to think I thought we got the better deal when we signed him for £16m ahead of £20m Downing.

But hes so predictable in that he doesn't know what to do when hes trying to play a cross or beat a man

It was the better deal but that's not saying much since he's been consistently poor.

IMO, he's going to get 30 assists this season. He's got an ability that only I can spot... You're all dumb. A pass accuracy of 60% is really good. He provides defensive cover just like when City scored their fourth goal, man was jogging back like it's nursery or suttin'.

Joking aside, at this point we're paying him to save face.

It's ridiculous.
