Smashley Young

Should be 7th choice winger really. Nani, Kagawa, Valencia, Welbeck, Januzaj, Zaha should all be ahead of him in the pecking order. They've all shown more then he ever has either just in pre-season, or little sub appearances, or from last season.

Personally thought he should have been sold in the summer, he's good enough to be a squad player no doubt but with 3 senior players in nani, kagawa and welbeck who should be ahead of him for that spot and zaha/januzaj who should be given as much game time as we can afford to, he's just not required.

It's not even that he's shit, he's an absolute pussy too. I've never seen him try to win a fecking header or commit to a tackle, he's not worthy of being a Utd player in any capacity.

I am surprised how he can hold up the ball with player at his back at all without falling down.

So before the match he had been good so far this season, and after his parents should have been sterilized?

Come on, hes just been crap since day one!

I don't know where to post this, so I'll post it in both Evra and Young thread:

Look at their average positions.

Think you'll find he's been the scapegoat for a long while and with good reason. Don't think this is just some bandwagon jumping.

The lad on his day can be a good player, problem is his day is 1 game in 6 at best.

Disappointed at his time with us. Apart from some good performances, he hasn't really delivered the same level of consistency he showed at Villa.

I'm new in the mains and you will soon find out that I hardly ever get on a player's back, I will stand by them but even my patience has been lost with Young. There is nothing he offers us that a kid in the reserves can't. His contract makes it hard to get rid of him but there is no way the management can see any sort of future for him at the club.

Mediocre mid table footballer. I really can't of why this chap should start ahead of even januzaj and zaha. Even when he sypposedlly had a decent game, the 18 year old still looked far superior.

Young should be backup wingers. Behind kagawa, behind nahi and imo behind the likes of januzaj too.

Makes it even harder that this week which was just the icing on the cake of many poor performances. We have Lingard out on loan banging in 4 goals. I don't think Young has it in him to do 4 right things, let alone score goals.

Not a good game at all from him. Looked out of ideas at the best of times. Really hope that we drop him and bring nani in or even give one of the kids a bit of a run. Basically anyone that will actually look at running at players and getting behind them instead of sitting waiting for the overlap of putting in a rubbish cross to no one.

I have left it as long as I could, but it's time to finally admit that I think Ashley Young is an absolute abortion of a footballer

He's a one trick pony. And he can't even get that one trick right too. I don't understand why his crosses are slow and floaty. Why can't he whip them in fast?

We laugh at Downing. But he's just as bad.

I don't dislike Young, I just think he should not be anywhere near first choice and only gets game when everyone else is out injured. I'll rather much play players like Kagawa and Nani who badly needs the match fitness as their top level is miles ahead of anything Young could offer us.

He is like the Leon Osman version of wingers. Or the Alan Wright (former A.Villa) version if you wanna go back to mid 90s

Can someone please ask Geoff Shreeves to pester Moyes with the question as to how Young and Valencia manage to start games again and again? I am at an absolute loss of words.

Ooh this has to be done.

If they can ask a million questions about Rooney they can slip one in about this one

I dont want to be over cricial but Ashley Young has been poor for a while. His crossing is not at an acceptable standard, his overall decision making leaves a lot to be desired. I guess with Zaha, or the other new boy should be given a run and let Young get his act together.

I started watching when Giggs and Beckham ran the flanks, now we have Tony and Young! Good times!

:(

He just don't have the courage to take on his men. either he will cut inside to pass to a midfielder or Evra who overlaps him. I somehow remember he takes a mean corner when at Villa.

At least Young puts in some semblance of effort to try and make things happen. He puts in shit crosses, shit balls down the line for Evra to chase hopelessly, the occasional shit shot that goes flying over the bar. Valencia on the other hand just plays his extra safe pass backs to Smalling/Carrick.

It's funny how our two wingers are shit for different reasons.

There's two flanks, RW and LW. Valencia is our first team RW, Nani our first team LW. The Portuguese can easily slot on the right wing role. Welbeck and Kagawa can do the job on the left wing role. We also have 3 very promising kids which are Zaha, Januzaj and Jesse. Even if only one of them is able to reach Manchester United's level (which I find it difficult to believe). We're well covered. So honestly I struggle to understand what the feck Giggs and Young are still doing in the team apart from taking precious game time from the kids. The former is ancient, the latter is shit.

If we don't play the kids then they will leave. The club has promised that such lesson was learnt. With all due respect we haven't seen that happened yet.

Like someone said in the other thread, remove these two and we instantly become better. The minutes they are eating up should go to someone more promising or someone better. Also, that Valencia in his current state is our first team RW is a bit worrying.

:lol::lol:

I really hope we never see him again. Ever.

Don't just blame Young. look at city, they had 6 players in the centre. We had 4, our wingers were either told to stay out wide at all times even when we were being over run down the middle. It was poor tactics allied to pole wingers.

I've never seen Young and Valencia cutting inside to be honest.

Apparently he was the first player Moyes met on his first day at the club. It's the only possible reason as to why he's getting selected for almost every game, despite doing nothing.

His job is to create chances for the forwards. His crossing ability has just gone, he's popping balls in from ridiculous places to players who don't play like Carew or Heskey.

The million dollar question is...is he playing to Moyes' instructions thus constant selections, or is he incapable?

We may not be better but at least we'll be given a chance to talent with the potential of becoming great players. At things stand we're playing average players who wont improve in the future while keeping the kids rotting on the bench.

He will get more playing time. His injuries last year were a blessing in disguise. Fergies worst signing ever.

I think the majority of the our fanbase, if not the entire fanbase, would rather see Januzaj/Zaha start ahead of Young. No matter the opponents. How Young continues to get picked, week in, week out is the 8th wonder of the world.

FFS, I'd rather play Cleverley out wide again atm.

I really hope we sell him in Jan and even if we don't buy anyone and promote Adnan to his position it would be the best possible move for us.

Ashley (keeping) Young (players out)

We cant sell him as we put him on stupid wages, he's gonna be hear until his contract expires in 2 years. Awful waste of money.

Agreed. Moyes is doing himself no favours with these team selections at all.
