Smashley Young

Unfortunately it has gotten to the stage where defenders actually want him to get the ball. Not taking the piss but it's true. As soon as he gets the ball, the back four is able to get set, shape up and start again as they know where the ball is going, either back to Carrick, Joe Hart's hands or Zabaleta's feet. I don't mind having a predictable player, that's fine but sadly it's getting out of hand.

It's amazing how a football contract can influence such important decisions like this.

A nothing player, 18 million with one year left on his contract... loelz.

Have United not noticed that every opposition team he plays against has started leaving him in space and getting tight to everyone else, because they know we'll give him the ball and he wont be good enough to do anything with it?

Why do our own coaching staff never fecking see what's staring them in the face until about 2 months after the opposition have started captialising on it every week?

I thought he'd be useful on the break today but as soon as City scored he may as well have been hooked off....and yet he stays on after half time. Can anyone explain why?

The only explanation is that he has blackmail material on Moyes.

I've defended him in the past, but his performances have been useless. Offers less than Giggs.

If Kagawa or Nani aren't going to be given starts, I'd rather see Januzaj or Zaha play than Young. He's just not good enough at this level.

Moyes finally clocked on Giggs doesn't offer much anymore, maybe he will do the same with Young at some point.

He's fecking shit. Who's the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime on here who said that we was going to score/assist 30 times again ? Get rid.

Ciderman actually admitted in the console fanboy thread that he actively tries to challenge the popular view, so whether it's for attention, the sake of argument, to improve debating skills or whatever, I'm guessing this Young business is no different.

And he will continue to start regularly. Just you watch.

Yup that seems to be the thing no matter how shit he plays, he starts almost every game. How Kagawa or Nani can't get in ahead of me is mind boggling.

Well I hope this is the case. Because after two years of being at the club, I was amazed anyone could take the view how great Young could be.

Yeah, he's being serious, which is funny, but I suppose he needs entertainment in his life.

I've been one of his biggest defenders, but he was diabolical today.

He is a total a turd....he should not play for us again-utter utter shiite!!!

He works hard for the team.

He really doesn't though. He offers absolutely nothing on the pitch at the moment - we have three (four, if you include Januzaj) better options on the left wing. The only thing he's done is diving and seeing as Moyes doesn't like that there's just no reason to keep playing him.

The thing is even if it's not ideal you could play one of Valencia, Welbeck and Young with RVP or Rooney and it would be so bad if the other attackers had real cutting edge, maybe 2, but playing all 3 particularly with none of them playing that well for me considerably reduces our attacking ability. Just way too one dimensional. Can only hope that kagawa and nani do enough against Liverpool to convince Moyes to give at least one if not both an extended run.

His evil face is now starting to transfer to his performances on the pitch.

I actually doubt his mentality/mental strength most of all. He just doesnt have it in him to play for a big club regardless of talent.

Ferguson deserves the blame for signing him in the first place. I don't recall any United fans being in favour of his signing, and it was always curious. All down to this fecking 'United way' style we bang on about - we should have gone for the likes of Mata/Cazorla instead.

He has just one trick in his locker, the cut back on his right foot and cross-is this good enough for a premiership nevermind at champions league level...

See, that trick - in the game he actually remembers to use it, and there are plenty where he doesnt, would be pretty good with Fellaini in the box. But right now thats not going to happen. Or rather, it will after 70 mins when we're behind by 4 goals and we elect to play him behind Rooney instead of the subtelty of someone like Kagawa

If Moyes is hell bent on playing Young then I'd rather he play him on the right.

 It happened about 10 times today, he'd been in hoards of space on the far left in his 'Ashley Young designated zone' and city were like "its cool, he's shit" and judging by how little our players passed to him, they were probably thinking the same.

I'm not sure what Fergie saw in Young and I'm not sure what Moyes continues to see in him. Aston Villa is his level. He never struck me as a "Man Utd player".
