Smashley Young

Great player to have. Is fully understood with the rotation policy, puts in a good job when needed.

I thought he put in some decent crosses. It's a shame he's so against taking on a man though, a bit too safe for us this season.

When he first joined, he was more than willing and very capable of taking someone on.

Had a good game. Put in at least 3 fantastic crosses and considering it was his first game in a while got no complaints

Remember that this was just his second game coming back from a month injured, so he's not 100% yet.

I like him. Although not one of the best, but he makes up for it with intelligent play and determination.

Started off well, faded but overall a decent game.

decent squad player I guess.

Good, tidy. Not much else to say, that should be the standard performance when he starts a match and never below.

Decent game. Some good crosses, some straight to the keeper. He does his defensive job well and tries to keep the ball but it would be nice to see him take on the opposition defenders every now and then. I know he has the capability and that is why it is so frustrating.

I hope he improves with a run of games. Better fecking stay fit now.

I was gonna say something like that. The last time he was injured it took him a while to start delivering the goods. I have no doubt he'll be more adventurous with his game again when he finds his rhythm. Without ever really penetrating, he did deliver some good crosses for us.

Lads stop kidding yourself over this injury business. He isn't going to turn into a top winger all of a sudden. He's a pretty average player who can have a run of good games now and again but he isn't in a Valencia 2012 or Nani 2011 class.

I thought he had a pretty decent game today. Took a knock early on that had him limping around for a bit though. Sometimes he looks a wee bit timid and afraid to take a man on, but maybe that's because he is on his way back from injury and his confidence isn't quite where it needs to be. We'll need him fully fit for the last lap though so I hope he keeps on getting games.

He made some very good and accurate crosses today, played really well.

I don't think anyone expect him to be.It's virtually impossible 3 wingers of high quality performing for a club in the same season. We're happy to have a player who'll give his best and won't complain about lack of playing time.

Finally whipping in some of his trademark crosses from the left wing. Dangerous and never shirked from defensive duties. A good shift from him but it looks like he might have picked up a slight knock.

He kept the ball well and delivered a few good crosses, which was what you lot were complaining that Valencia failed to do the last couple of months

Why was he getting booed by the crowd anyway?

Didn't he dive against QPR and get Derry sent off last season? Can only think of that

I wonder why too. Rooney got booed also.

Maybe Young because he dived against them at the end of last season?

Rooney...because he's Rooney?

He's certainly not doing himself any favours considering he knows we're bringing in another winger in the summer.

Frustrating to see someone go down before every tackle comes in.

I think he is been fine apart form a couple of sloppy passes.

Tough crowd as always when it comes to certain players.

Why is he always playing with his back to the goal? His final pass/cross is really lacking and he seems to pass back more than forward. RvP was really frustrated with him at one point today

I don't think he truly thinks he's United quality. His set-pieces were great before he came here and he'd back himself to come on to his right and shoot, we saw some of that last season but this season we've seen none of that. He's a good player but he just doesn't seem to have that belief.

Not just based on today but I don't think he will be here beyond next season. Welbeck seems to be first choice, Zaha is coming in, Nani might yet stay and Kagawa can play there. I also think we will sign another.

We should sell him on. When he isn't scared to receive the ball, he's so average in possession that play always breaks down with him.

He needs to find a club that is his level, but I doubt they will be able to afford his current wages.
