Playing someone like Carrick or Fellaini very deep is akin to playing that 3-5-2 anyway at times.
It's not because we dont play in a way that resembles the rest of the system, basically if we played a diamond and the DM dropped back then your right it could be a 3-5-2.
But in our 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 Fellaini dropping back doesn't give us a 3-5-2 like in the posted formation. We have wingers and that system is using a number 10 and also two strikers, so really different.
