Sergio Reguilon | Man Utd Loan with January break clause

Aye, but aren't we trying to loan Fernandez out? Surely it means we think he has a chance with us, otherwise we should have been looking to sell.
Because Ten Hag doesn’t think he’s good enough? He just had an underwhelming spell in the championship. Or even thinking he needs regular playing time which he (hopefully) wouldn’t get with us

What is the point of having an academy, and apparently 'promising youngsters' like Fernandez, if we sign crap like Reguilon or Cucurella?

If they are not good enough to be third choices in Spurs/Chelsea, why they are good for United?

He won the Young Player of the Year for PNE didn't he?

I want to be positive about this sooo...........well, he is better than Malacia at least.

Good signing. Especially on the short term as injury cover.

Hopefully he can still whip a good ball in the box.

Have they many other young players?
No idea, but he played over 40 times, got a few assists and seems to have been well thought of at PNE. Not sure that could be called underwhelming. What do we expect of a 20 year old on loan to the Championship? Seems he did alright to me.

Is he better than cucurella? Not really seen him play.

It's a loan deal. Shaw and Malacia won't be out all season? But this deal may show 1 or the other may be out a while..

I'm so confused. Just got in from work and seeing us linked with this guy now. I thought we were after Cucurella?! Wtf is going on with us?!

We’ve been linked with both for a few days

Büttner, Blackett, Borthwick-Jackson, Telles, Malacia, Reguilón. We've been blessed at left back over the years.

Well, Chelsea stupidly went and played him in the cup last night so now he’s cup tied, plus the fact we see Reguilon as a cheaper option that will hopefully enable us to sign Amrabat as well.

According to WhoScored he has only one strength.

Blocking the ball (strong)

Strap yourself in for some thrilling football chaps

Fans are here complain way too much. He's a 3rd choice left back, what are you crying about.

Same fans moaning are the same ones who were calling it bad squad management under Ole when players were complaining about game time.

For the ones who want Fernandez, why not give Gore a chance in midfield then? He's a championship player at the moment, whom the manager feels isn't good enough. I'm tired of seeing players like Brandon Williams. He feels he needs more certainty in that position as it's needed NOW.

Cucurella played for Chelsea yesterday in the Carabao Cup complicated things for us a he is cup tied now and we can't use him in that cup.

Weren't a few around here upset when we didn't sign him before his Spurs move?
If the caf rates him, so do I!

It seems madness to me, it really does. We have a youngster here, who might work out, might not. Instead of trying him and staying true to our principles of the past, we are going to try and cash in for a small amount and then pay probably as much for a temporary loan for someone with seasons of terrible form for a rival to just sit on the bench? Hello? What am I missing here? Can it be so that Fernandez gets playing time assured?

I get we can't afford Cucurella and Amarabat (which in itself is scandalous, but it is what it is), but this on top is taking the biscuit. I'm all for ETH and what he's trying to do with his hands relatively tied, but this is not sitting well with me at all. It can only be there is something we aren't knowing surely?

We wanted a break clause (so we could send him back to Chelsea in January, when hopefully Shaw and Malacia are available) but because he played for Chelsea last night, if he plays for us then Chelsea wouldn't be able to sell/loan him to anyone else in January because player's aren't allowed to play for 3 different clubs in one season.

EDIT: Apparently the loan fee for Reguilon is also cheaper, which allows more money to go towards the Amrabat fee.

This is pretty much a 'dusting off old scout reports' one. If I remember right, we wanted him off Madrid but refused to agree to a buyback option.

He had some excellent performances about 3 or 4 years ago.

Him now being cup tied after starting last night may have made an agreement more difficult.

Agree. Reguilon is fine, no more or less than that. Time to get off the high horse. Hes a stop-gap and if Fernandez takes his opportunity, then Reguilon won't get many minutes anyway.

We can do things other clubs wake up in the middle of the night shaking with cold sweats about.

United are only looking for someone January and so it makes sense to have the cheapest option. At best he will play like 10 games

Meanwhile the treble winners pay 47m for Neves meaning they’ve brought in more outfield players than us now is this true?

Please, guys. I’m not claiming knowledge her, but help me out.

We’re talking about spending relative pennies to fill assist the first team for a month maybe, and fill out the squad for a few more. I’ve only seen Reguilon really when he ridiculed us in the EL SF for Sevilla and a few more Sevilla games that year wehere he was really good, and a couple of Spurs games where I thought he was OK.

I do my google, and this is what I find:

21 years old: 14 games for Real Madrid
22 years old: Brilliant season and EL winner for Sevilla. Sports journo’s write about the hottest LB on the market.
23 years old: An article in mid november about Reguilon solving all Mourinho’s problems by being sensational for Spurs
24 years old: Talk of Real Madrid wanting him back because of good performances. Perez/Ancelotti: It was Zidane’s mistake to let him go.
- 6 caps for Spain.
25 years old: played 67 games over two seasons for Spurs until groin injury, Conte wants to prioritize others for new season. Still, Atletico, Napoli and Lazio want to loan him regardless. Inbetween injuries he plays 12 games for Atletico.
26 years old: It’s a scandal to use him as a stop gap for United

I realize he must have a lot of really bad games lately that people have watched, but still: How can it be so crazy to think he’ll be useful as competition for Dalot and Malacia for a few months, when Atletico, Lazio and Napoli thought he would be useful for them as lately as 12 months back?

I remember definitely wanting him over Telles back in 2020.

Disappointing that he's been unable to nail down the LB spot at Spurs and also didn't make an impact at Atletico - but as cover until Shaw & Malacia are back, it's probably worth a punt.

Cos we're Moan United, we'll complain when we want!

He’ll be first choice until Malacia/Shaw return and both are out of action for a while, Shaw moreso than Malacia. So no, he won’t be 3rd choice.

Because this Jan won’t be anything like last Jan where we had to bring in Weghorst?
Not really . We have two left backs already at the club and it’s rare that both got long term injuries. The hope is that both should be back by then . Waste of time having 3 at that point

I might be wrong but feel like we were heavily linked with him at one point when he was at sevilla
