I hope Old Trafford made an impression on Ramos when Real played there in 2013. Great atmosphere that night apparently.

...like a bullet in the head man.

Never seen more of a waster than that prick. Absolutely disgusting the way he treated his time with us. Opportunity of a lifetime & he looked like he couldnt give a shite most of the time. 1 good game & 4 crap one's in a row.

I'm glad the club feel the same as i do & want to get rid - even for nothing too!

A bit harsh, don't you think? Anderson was far worse and there's been many more that are more worthy of abuse like that. At least Nani contributed to a title win.

Ive been very critical of Nani at times but this seems way overboard to me.

Did you learn nothing from Tropic Thunder??

Understatement. Those who don't recognise Ramos as a top 10 CB are deluded/biased/hugely ignorant.

I can understand why some may not like Ramos - hell, even I think he's a hothead and a bit of a cnut sometimes - but he is without doubt in the top 10. I'd personally still put Thiago Silva above him, but Ramos is definitely top 10.

I think the conventional wisdom is as follows:

Going into the WC it looked liked Thiago Silva, Ramos, Godin were the top tier of CBs and right now I think a fair reading would be that Boateng definitely cemented his place there, Pique is back in the top group after a great year and while Ramos and Thiago Silva weren't quite as brilliant this last season, it wasn't an aging/athleticism issue and they will likely rebound.

Apologies to players like Terry (Good enough but pace and potential drop off due to age hurt him), Bonucci (Very good but maybe just shy of elite), Otamendi (Maybe another year of top play), Koscielny (not great for France, often hurt), Mascherano (Great DM and excellent CB but height issues) and some I'm no doubt forgetting.

You'd figure some CB under 30 may hit a new level next year and join them like Varane (has it all), Benatia (Looked on the verge at Roma), De Vrij (Great for Lazio), Hummels (comeback year), Laporte (see Varane) or Marquinhos.

Nani's decision making is terrible but he didn't waste his opportunity in the same way someone like Anderson did.
I dont think his problem was his attitude, it was that he is not consistent enough.

Just my opinion man & its an opinion of non-United fan's also. No point havin blinkers on with our players, when its obvious some of them arent fit to wear the shirt & just want the bucks or to play for a big club.

Anderson is a really good point though. Ironic that they were both bought at exactly the same time & never lived up to their potential. We had such high hopes for both of them too. Such a shame..

Still best defender in world..

You could say this exact post about Anderson

But Nani? Im not his biggest fan. He was a bit of a pussy and horribly inconistent...but I think he gave his all. Never thought he was taking the piss at all

Nani's problem was never a lack of effort or desire.

The difference between his and Anderson's attitude is night and day.

I think both wasted their opportunity equally Ravi. As i said, its just my opinion man.

Anderson - never fully fit & crap diet (Red Nev said that recently too). Nani - poor decision-making of course, but not looking like he gave a shit either - did my head in & it seems the club agree's..

I remain to be anything like convinced that we will get close to signing Ramos.

Maybe been said but I just think back to the Rooney situation, Chelsea fans must have been loving it & expected him to join, but we simply refused to sell and a few months pass then he signs up and most people just forget about it, Ramos will likely be similar imo.

Really hope I'm wrong though because I'd love him here.

I'm not a fan, but this is so overboard.

Why are people talking about Nani and Anderson in this thread?

Move it to a new/old thread and keep this for updates and opinions on Ramos being the second coming of Jesus.

The difference here is, Ramos has actually told Madrid the club he wants to go to and the source is his own brother. The Rooney situation was clearly a money tantrum, this one not so much. I'm not sure how he comes back from this with Madrid fans.

I dont think any United fans havent thought about that typical scenario man, but Hunter addressed that issue of Ramos tryin to get a pay day at Real & said it's much more than that - he's proper f*cked off at Real & loves the idea of the Prem. He's 29 also & won everything there is, so why wouldnt he want a new challenge. I'd be game on if i was he.

His payday is coming to the Prem & to United & he's a determined bastard also..

I thought the genesis of this whole situation was he felt he wasnt being paid commensurately with his status in the Madrid dressing room? Ergo, this is at root a money tantrum that has morphed into something else, something more personal.

I cant remember for sure and I may well be wrong but I seem to remember Rooney dropping hints that he did want to go to Chelsea - though he never came out and said so explicitly.

I think this situation looks a lot like the Rooney one to be honest, though that doesnt mean it will end up resolving itself the same way.

Surprise surprise - Mr. Agenda's right on cue
There's no agenda. I've no problem with people saying Nani underachieved here but that post and its statements are total horseshit, as evidenced by everyone else in here thinking the exact same thing as me.

If that's genuinely your opinion of Nani then there's only one person with an agenda here.

So, Ramos.

It's fecking crazy isn't it?

I've an opinion & whether you like it or not - i dont particulary give a shit. It's not a dick-measuring contest mate & i'm not gonna waste anymore time discussing Nani or Anderson, furthermore..

:boring:

From the start of 2010 to the end of 2011 Nani started 44 league matches, so I guess that is 9 good ones and 35 bad ones.

Given that he got 17 goals and 39 assists from these matches, could you just clarify which were the 9 good ones?

Has GH cleared up the money thing from Madrid though? I hear that he is hacked off because they haven't offered him a new deal yet, that he feels he is worth more than he is currently on etc.

What I haven't heared is that he feels he has achieved all he can at RM and just wants leave whether they offer him a new contract or not.

Finally starting to believe this might actually happen.. Would be a coup for us to get Ramos..

Ramos is clearly one of the best defenders in the world, Imagine what the reaction would be like if he was heavily linked with Chelsea or City. I don't know how anyone who has watched a game of football can say Ramos is not top 10, this is the most ridiculous comment I've seen in my life. The top defenders in the world right now are Pique, Silva, Ramos, Boateng in no particular order. There is no rule stating that we have to sign young players, Ramos is 29 and a key player at one of the biggest clubs in the world, what's not to like about this?

This time last summer, I'm fairly certain that less than 30% of people here or anywhere would be so keen on us signing Otamendi rather than Ramos [for obvious reasons], if it's risky to sign Harry Kane because he's had only one good season, why is it not risky to do the same with Otamendi? Of course, I think Otamendi would be a good signing, however, if it's a choice between him and Ramos, it's a no contest really.

If and that's a big IF we get Ramos, it will be a signing of the highest quality, a statement of absolute intent and a solution to one of the major problems of the team, he's that good. We need a brilliant defender, a player with bags of experience for the here and now, a "bastard" - Ramos perfectly fits the bill.

Agree with everything you said, I would add Godin to the list of top defenders in the world as well.
I think we will end of with Ramos, there is too much noise coming from his camp to be about just a pay raise.

 If you don't want to discuss them then don't bring them up, that's pretty basic logic.

I have always rate Ramos highly, don't understand all the hate and critcism actually, perhaps it's the cnut thing from him.

I remember thinking last season that potentially signing Di Maria would be the biggest coup we've ever had but I think we have less chance of signing Ramos so I reckon this would be our biggest coup ever. I still don't believe it will ever happen and I won't until I see him in a United shirt stood next to LvG.
