Big time man.

If he does leave to go to us - it'll mark a massive change in the landscape. Real are always the club that unsettles a top player & they get what they want all the time. This being huge for us, would be an understatement..

I can't think of one player that left Madrid when they still rated and wanted him. It would be revolutionary.

If we Sign Ramos, I'd love for us to refuse to sell De Gea, even if he goes for free next season.

Just something hilarious about us keeping Dave and taking one of their best players for their audacity

I was in the sell camp, but I would love too see that. And next summer we go for Bale.

Di Maria last year? It was only after they wouldn't pay him more, give him a new contract (A la Ramos) and then they started their little campaign of hate, they wanted him to stay.

I've said it before but it looks like it needs saying again, the obsession with the price is crazy.
Ramos is without a doubt one of the top 10 (if not top 5) defenders in the world right now and our current bid of 40mill EUROS works out at just over one third of what Adidas are paying us each year just to have their name on our kit and on some boards at our stadium. It's a drop in the ocean for a club of our size.

Yeah I dont get it either, it goes around too in Coleman thread, lots of accounants giving their opinion on is it a good price or not.

I think some folk regard United's spending as their money, or that the kitty isnt that big for us to splurge x-amounts on one player & we end up losing out on another because we cant budget him.

Simple fact of the matter is - we're absolutely minted & we're doing all we can to get back where we belong. Money is no object for the right players that will bring us success again & folk should stop panicing about our outgoings - we dont have the same thrifty mantra under Fergie anymore & i welcome that with open arms.

We bring in shitloads of dosh & its about time we utilised that opportunity to spend it. We're self-made, so there's no issue of sugar-daddies that we all bitch & moan about..

No, they booed him for years, treated him miserably for a long time. They changed their minds during the season but it was already over. And the club offered him to all the clubs able to pay.

I think it's them painting that AdM is "It's all about the bloody money money" to get an excuse for throwing him away to welcome Rodriguez. He felt he was unwanted

Initially i thought we are under pressure in selling DDG, now it look like other way round,RM with Ramos.Well done Woody.

If Madrid came with a respctable offer, De Gea would be gone. But I read that LVG still remembers how long Madrid dragged out the ADM transfer and how they wanted what he thought was too much. Purely from those reasons, we have made it as difficult as possible.

A VG never forgets

We've all seen it but it doesn't hurt to watch it again

I purely agree with what we are doing with Madrid in regard to DDG,yes we're ready to sell but at right price.I think message had be delivered to them properly.
IMO, they would be dealing Ramos situation with cautious,by the time our second bid goes through i think it should be over.

Real got rid of them - they didnt want to leave, especially Di Maria. Massive difference mate!

Real wanted both to stay.
Makelele's story is very similar,as he felt slighted by Real's treatment as well, not offering him wages on par with the galacticos, while all his teammates said he was their most important player

Andy Cole's on it. Outstanding.

Perez did not want them actually

How reliable is Graham Hunter?
The question is how reliable is the Ramos camp. He's basically admitted (highly unusual) that the information came from Ramos' brother.

Though you also have BBC's word for us making the 28.6m bid.

Covers the big two in Spain pretty well. Was very active during the whole Thiago saga. Was credited with saying it was a done deal to United but what he really said was that we had agreed terms with Thiago and that he really wanted to come.

The most interesting thing here is that he kinda revealed his source for all this (Ramos' brother), not just doing the usual "according to sources".

Really did. Madrid just dont value what they currently have as much as players at other clubs. They could have the best 11 players in the world in their team, but they'd still sign a few more to replace them every summer

It's not really an extra-ordinary price for a defender of his quality at all. There's a serious shortage of quality center halves and he's miles ahead of the likes of Hummels etc. IMO, plus 29 is a nothing age for a top quality center half - he can easily play into his mid 30s if he looks after himself and if we can get 4-5 years of quality service from him we won't really be looking back at his price wondering whether we made correct decision.

I'm still undecided between him and Otamendi as I really like the latter but it has to be said that Ramos absolutely thumps him with experience and success rate so far.

This is actually sort of funny, Real Madrid thought we were their bitch and they could raid us for our best players and now they're left with their best defenders wanting to move here. PR wise this move will be amazing and a great statement of intent.

He's definitely top 10. In top form he's probably THE best center half in the world.

I'm with you on that one, Thiago Silva was head and shoulders above everyone but it's not the case anymore. I'm surprised to see some people claim that Ramos isn't a top 10 center back.
