Once again it looks like we've been used by a player to leverage himself a new contract.
Glad we can help so many players each summer
Once again it looks like we've been used by a player to leverage himself a new contract.
What we "gain" from the perceived "scheme" (insisting they sell us a top player before we'll accept an offer for DDG) is the possibility of keeping DDG for a final season. That isn't nothing. If DDG is prepared to play on as normally if an arrangement can't be made, we get one of the best keepers in the world for one more season.
After LVG's comments last night about his transfer being "unfavourable" it seems he wants him to commit or feck off. I wonder will De Gea put in the kind of performances we've seen from him the last two seasons? Something tells me we won't.
I could see him start off the season ok, but gradually deteriorate as the season unfolds. Something similar to Di Maria basically.
We really should start demanding agent fees.Once again it looks like we've been used by a player to leverage himself a new contract.
Well, if it pans out that way, it's out of our hands - isn't it?
The situation is "unfavourable" as such - nobody wants to be in it. But if DDG acts like a professional, it's not necessarily an untenable situation.
It all comes down to how the involved parties deal with the conditions as they stand. My main point is that I don't see how we could have handled it significantly better. Trying to get something out of it (Ramos) while still retaining the option to - simply - let DDG's contract run out, isn't an idiotic play as such in my book.
I still don't get why the ''all the time we wasted on Ramos, we couldddaa got Owtamenday in yo!'' people can not get it through their thick heads that we were simply never interested in him. It was not Plan A: Ramos, Plan B: Otamendi. It was Ramos or nothing. So van Gaal and Woodward didn't waste time on Ramos and missed out on signing Otamendi early.Instead of wading through this drama we could already have Otamendi if provided Valencia with serious offer during or before the tour.
This argument that Ramos is better on the ball is not a priority at all for me because what a about pure defending quality ? We obviously lack it at times and that thing right there should be enough reason to seal it and then wait for decision from Ramos or whatever the f*ck he is planning to do with his career.
People need to understand that waiting not always paying off especially if you're working within a time frames and have already dates of competitive matches ahead.
Ramos drama may drag even longer because it was designed to do exactly that and provide Sergio Ramos what he wants... doesn't mean it's the thing that we want.
Apparently you don't care what I said in the first place. Signing Otamendi wouldn't mean ruling out waiting for Ramos deal completion but for such a narrow way of thinking I didn't expect you to get anything.I still don't get why the ''all the time we wasted on Ramos, we couldddaa got Owtamenday in yo!'' people can not get it through their thick heads that we were simply never interested in him. And it's real nice that you don't care about Ramos being better on the ball. Apparently the people in charge do.
Wut? My head hurts reading that. But if you meant that we could have signed Otamendi and waited on the Ramos situation to play out and see if we could get him too.. again, WE DON'T WANT OTAMENDI AND NEVER DID, NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT OUR DEFENSIVE SITUATION.Apparently you don't care what I said in the first place. Now please write more posts calling people thick, hurry.
Would anybody care to jog my memory as to what players have been heavily linked to us, only to make a dramatic u-turn followed by new contract?

Take a deep breath for a second and relax, you're wasting the calories to write in the caps lock tap of rage mode.Wut? My head hurts reading that. I was actually being condescending, not raging. Hope that eases your worries about me.Take a deep breath for a second and relax, you're wasting the calories to write in the caps lock tap of rage mode.
Otamendi is available on the market for the serious price as perhaps one of the very few quality defenders out there left this summer. If you don't like the transfer speculations then what the hell are you doing on the football forum during the summer in the first place ?
I will write what I think about the defensive situation no matter what you think... but please rage for me more.
Well then you have a problem... I want to ask you now how you're gonna deal with it ?I was actually being condescending, not raging. Hope that eases your worries about me.
I don't have a problem with speculation, I have a problem with the people who are making it out as if we consciously postponed the Otamendi signing as a sort of Plan B option during the Ramos chase and that we have therefore made a stupid miscalculation. The reality was always that we (LVG) weren't even interested in the beardy hardman, thus we didn't delay nor screw up anything Otamendi related during the 3 or 4 weeks we were waiting on Ramos.

We really should make it an officially licensed product.
Alves, Gundogan & Titus Bramble..
I think Hummels can also go on that list.
And Ramos will soon join.

Do you think that De Gea is staying 100%?Madrid is paying 8.5+bonus,had to increase the offer but far from the 10net that he demandedWe would have lost de gea anyway, taking ramos into the equation just to spite real. If he wants to come good,, not coming no de gea. Win win for us considering de gea is set to leave anyway.
He got a new contract, we got de gea dor another year and hopefully lure him to love us by winning the league. The only party losing out is real, they're one year without proper gk, they have to pay ramos a 5 year mega contract, and they have a taste of their own medicine. Win win for us. Thanks ramos!

You are satisfied with little if annoying Madrid for three weeks is enough. If he had left would be painful but he got what he wanted,a fair amount for the winner of la décima(the 10m€ that he demanded was too much) and after all the noise we keep the player.La Razón and El Confidencial,2 conservative newspapers have been categorical about De Gea,so we will see in the next daysHow hard does the ramos saga rocks your side? Not sure, but it looks more likely. I guess it's still beats caving in and let him go for 15m and ramos laughing like a mug.
The situation isnt ideal for us, but the very least we make it hard for you.
Lol yeah that will happen like we have any power to get a player to agree to any of that.Next time United should force the player to go publicly in the first place, or sign with him some precontract, assuring a compensation in case that he signs a new contract with his club
Excellent!LOL.
