Sergio Canales

Sensational talent.. Madrid will have a hard job fecking him up

Don't underestimate Madrid's habit of fecking up great talents having said that he really looks like an amazing talent, that goal vs villarreal was just sensational

He's a lovely player to watch, but he's very new. Only 15 starts with Racing, and he doesn't often play 90 minutes even when he does start but it's obvious why the clubs moved so fast after he made his debut.

He's supposed to do his pre-season with Madrid and then either they keep him with the squad, or loan him back to Racing for another year if he needs more time.

It's going to be a bit difficult for him given what Madrid have got in Khedira, Ozil and Di Maria.

I agree with the other 2 but Khedira is not a threat to Canales.
It was really stupid from him to sign for Madrid so soon or at least he should have to be loaned

Well look at Benzema. After his first season a lot of posters were writing him off. Higuain got injured this season and he's been given chances to start each week and he's proven himself.

In my opinion the biggest problem for Canales is Kaka returning from injury. Lets say Ronaldo, Ozil or Di Maria get injured... Before, Canales would have had the chance to take a place on the wing to replace them, or replace the player moving into Ozil's role. With Kaka there he will take any of those places instead leaving Canales out in the cold

He came on as a second half sub for Spain last night and it was immediately clear the talent hasn't gone anywhere despite his nightmare season at Real Madrid. Give him playing time and a good environment to develop in and he still has all the tools to become a special player.

Just realised my ban has run out. Hiya there Boss, I guess I understimated Madrid's ability to ruin young players with decent talent. A club that size and with the talent they had in that lad's position, Kaka and Ozil for instance and its easy to see why a short-sighted club with a craving for instant success would be unwilling to give him the much-needed game time he requires to develop.

Called it.

As a unit, I meant.

Couple of comments on him in the Benega thread. Thought hes looked great this season, seen him a good few times now and he looks like fulfilling his potential after a shit year with Real. Probably best not to go back there, ever!

A class apart against Chelsea yesterday.

Not sure what he can do really. It's Özil in his way at Bernebeau, and benching either of two such fantastic prospects would be a shame. For now, he just keep performing with Valencia though. Is he there for the season?

Yes - and they can buy him at the end of th season for a set fee, which I'm sure they will.

The thing is, the deal is complicated. Its, pulling a number off the top of my head as a ballpark figure, something like 14 million euros for Valencia to sign him. Which they probably will. But Real then have an option to buy him back for a few million more euros.

So in the end the question will be, does Canales still want to be at Madrid or will he decide to stay in Valencia. And will Madrid see him as being neccessary given their other options

Anyway on his subject, he was very impressive against Barcelona and then Valencia's man of the match against Chelsea.

Scored the only goal tonight against Granada and put Valencia top

Playing his role at Valencia as well as Silva ever did, albeit in in only a few games so far. He's been one of Valencia's top players against Barcelona, Chelsea and then tonight against Granada. Wouldnt think he's too far away from being called up to the Spain squad

Slightly scary the amount of playmaker that Spain seem to produce regularly. I watched Denis Suarez for City's academy today and he was also brilliant, played like a young Silva. Here's hoping that this kid doesn't go back to Real Madrid, daft cnut should've chosen us ahead of Madrid when given the chance.

Called it.

And others you didn't get so right:

Has that ever stopped Madrid from signing players though and Ribery is more or less guaranteed to join Madrid next season. Schuster's latest interview just told us what we already knew.

Anyway, good to see Canales reaping the benefits of regular first-team football although he might be further down the line had he not joined Madrid last year.

Great to hear he's back, and that was a great pass for Pablo. I remember being a bit gutted when he signed for Real, much like with Sahin, because I reckon both would have been great for us. I hope he manages together back to his early season form and fulfil his potential.

What terrible luck he's had after starting the season on fire, arguably being Valencia's best player in the run of games he played in. He got injured and returned only this month, then yesterday in the europa league he was stretchered off again. Now he's out for another 6 months :nervous:

Saw it, and straight away knew it was serious. Bit like Rossi for Villarreal which is a real pity. 2 top class players.
