I would have preferred Aguero, he could play in a similar position like Ronaldo or Messi before (winger/forward), as we already have Berbatov and Rooney upfront.
 
Options limited now the Kar has left the garage, Aguero or Huntelaar would do, but have a feeling we will hear the usual mantra is a few weeks, "I am happy with my squad", with the pre season tour making the youngsters look worldbeaters until the real games start.

If it's the one I think it is, mentioning something about an offer from a top club "but it's not Chelsea", then those quotes are a year old.

Maybe.. It seems to me as if liverpool have made a decent bid (may not be 40m) and now athletico just want to entice higher bids from the other english clubs namely us and chelsea (hence the reference to chelsea in that article? )

I do not think Athletico want to sell him. But I guess this is the best time to sell someone, with the money/figures being quoted it is a good time to get big money.

Yes thats exactly why i think they want to sell. And in case they want to sell the might as well get try and get more clubs to bid

Aguero plays Rooney's wing position for Argentina so don't worry! Plus Rooney played the majority of last season up front even with Tevez around.

Yeah but his best position is playing off the striker. I'd find it ridiculous if we paid £50 mill for someone and then played him on the wing just because he can play there. I'd rather sign a proper world class winger than do that.

Sergio Aguero has signed a pre–contract will Liverpool FC and will move to the Reds on July 1st 2010.

The fee has been agreed at 45m Euros as the player had expressed his desire for the move but has however agreed to remain at Athletico for an additional season.
