Closer to 45-50m

I agree, that was kind of my point. Just saying that people seem to want to pick up the best players around for peanuts. Saying, 'i'd love Aguero, but not for that price' for example, makes me wonder what people think is a fair price.

Good players are expensive. There aren't many Aguero's about.

An ITK has claimed that Chelsea are on the verge of signing an A class striker for a massive fee. Couple of Chelsea fans claim he is a reliable source. Could be Aguero. Just thought I'd get this in here now just incase something happens :p

Yesterday I saw someone mention that on Argentinian radio station it had been said he'd be signing for Chelsea within 48 hours...

Olly you awful WUM!:lol::lol:

I suspect he will pull a Mikel and sign for both Manchester United and Chelsea

Well if we got £12m odd for not signing Mikel, we should at least get about £30m for not signing Aguero.

I wonder how we'll spend it?

those seats in our dugout need recovering, might go towards that.

Was the ITK on the radio?

No idea, I'm reproducing something that was posted elsewhere.

I can confirm to you that we are very close to signing an A- class striker from a big club for a massive fee. I do not know who it is i am as lost as you, This news came to me from the scouting department they told me that representitives from our club have boarded Romans plane and flew off. I do not know if it was Italy or Spain. All i know is a big amount of money is being put into Chelseas immediate spending account and that a cheque has been signed by Roman. Hopefully this will be clearer by tomorrow.

Just thought I'd throw it into the mix.

Evra would get a 10 game ban for that at least.

Spend most of it on a cyborg knee for Hargreaves

Yeah he plays for Argentina and usually gets starts. I watch Spanish football from time to time, the Madrid derby and some other big matches.

And this guy has star written all over him!

He had a better 2007-8, but was still bang on form for much of 2008-9, but was largely overshadowed by Diego Forlan. One stat that I like about him even though he is small, is the number of games he has played in the league the past three seasons for Athletico; 38,37,37. That's pretty fecking good for a player of that quality to play that many games, especially considering two of our strikers are a bit prone to pick up knocks.

I'd feel a lot more confident if we had Aguero in our ranks, he'd help put the fear back into the opposition especially european/top 4 opponents.

No, not a change. Which is a shame, as I have seen him 10 odd times, and have thought he had played consistently well.

No idea why people want us to sign him, doesn't he play in the same position as Rooney and Berbagoal?

He looks much better than Torres did at Athletico.

My Argie mate claims that there is a strong rumour on Spanish forums that he wants to move to England.

I'd imagine people put his name forward because despite being a better finisher than any of our strikers (minus Owen) and scoring 17 league goals last season, he also managed to get more assists than Rooney or Berbatov with 11. And can play wide in a front 3.

We dont dont seem to need a striker, as long as Owen can stay fit (...) but if we did, there's all the reason in the world that we should be looking at him.

I'd say we do lack another top attacking player and he is certainly that.

He's a fantastic little player in all honesty and I'd have him in an heartbeat, he'd cost a bit I'd imagine though.

I don't think we need him at the moment though, I have full confidence in our striking options at the moment.

Here we go :wenger:

Come on people ffs After the second game there are some people already pushing that big red button

Whilst there are (as always) a lot of over the top comments etc, there's a gulf of class in key positions in the squad. IMO there are far too many average to "great on their day" players and not enough 'spark'. I thought that at the beginning of the season after 0 games and even felt that Ronaldo covered a lot of inadequacies in the past 2 season.

The fact that Ferguson says he's not going to buy anybody just compounds it, and the squad is it is will have other nights like this. I take no pleasure whatsover in seeing United look so clueless and feeble and after so many good years, I don't like to dismiss players that have done a good job in the past. You may call it the "panic button" but I see it as an observational concern.
