Yeah, I still think at least one more player will arrive before the end of the window... And I suspect an attacker. Whether he'll be a big name though is another matter entirely

I will do 50 hours of community service if we sign this lad.

No thanks. I can see this being another situation like tevez. He signs, he has to put up with our rotation policy, maradona pressures him, he sulks, he leaves, he criticizes fergie.
you read my mind

especially with him being married to maradona's daughter

fergie is right to hand pick out players and sign players with the right attitude, players who will accept their place as part of the squad and players who will fight for the shirt

i'm happy enough to wait for the next big thing to come along

How dya know ? Totally different players with totally different attitudes.

He's better though. It doesn't take a genius to see that one is a good finisher with a very good technical ability and that the other is a decent-average finisher with a great commitment during matches.
I know which one I'd rather have on my team but sadly it ain't gonna happen

I honestly don't think this will happen. Athletico don't seem to need the money, so will hold out for his sell out clause. Which is £40m is it not? So if that is the case I would not pursue it, as that is an over inflated price.

We have 3 experienced forwards in Rooney, Berbatov and Owen, plus two exciting youngsters in Welbeck and Macheda. Then in January we will add Diouff to the mix too. We don't need 7 strikers.

So I don't see us signing a forward.

Aguero isn't the sort of player that is bought to be rotated. He's streets ahead of Tevez, and will eventually be streets ahead of most! Saying that, buying him would lead to having Berbatov consistently on the bench, which would be a bit ridiculous given what we paid for him.

You've got to laugh at the price tag the papers have put on him - I'd be absolutely amazed if anyone got him for £30m.

he'll be better than Rooney...

30mil maybe a year or two ago! this summer? 40-50 easy.

If someone is willing to pay that much then they have more money than sense.

I'd love to have him at United but not for that price.

totally, but where is the sense in any of the big transfers this summer. As SAF said, the market is inflaited and it's not good business to go out and buy in the current climate.

At least with aguero you are getting a 20 year old who can only get better and beter. You could have 5-6-7 top class years out the lad and then sell him for the same price you got him for... I think he's that good.

Super player but I think our strikers we have already is more than competent. Also Berbatov can truly step up this season and prove that he belongs in the upper echelons of strikers in world football. He and Rooney can form a truly devastating partnership.

We need a CM, not another striker imo.

As great as Kun is, he isn't what we really need.

Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes, Hargreaves, Anderson, Gibson and Giggs when needed. CM is not an issue. Dont get carried away by one game at the end of last season. What we need is a player who can make a difference. Turn games and do the unexpected. Aguero fits that bill and would be a brilliant signing

As with silva this lad is capable of playing in a number of positions, has inteligents to open up defences and can beat players for fun. Plus he ain't anywhere near the finshed article and isn't ribery. (Love the player, hate the attitude)

Exactly ! Doesn't he also have ridiculous wage demands too (won't get out of bed for less than €250K EUR per week or something). Not exactly a good sign. Lovely player, there's no doubt about that, but he stinks of trouble. Plus I can't really see where he fits in to be honest...

That's what the rumours have been - United and Chelsea are interested, willing to meet Atletico's price, but Aguero's wage demands are so ridiculously high as to completely bollox any possible transfer.

Fletcher: Ok
Carrick: Ok

Scholes: Too old
Hargreaves: Injury prone
Anderson: Unreliable, discontinuous
Gibson: Not good enough
Giggs: Too old

We have 2 midfielders, the others for various reason are unreliable

they would be the same unreliable players that have brought home the title for the past 3 seasons. we have 7 players there to fill 2 spots. those 'unreliable players' won the league cup, the world club championship, got to the semi finals of the FA cup and the final of the champions league aswell as winning the premiership. your rating of some of those midfielders makes it really hard to take your opinion seriously

Aquero would be the marquee signing I've been hoping for. Cant see it tho.

My edit....

Fletcher: Very good, and improving
Carrick: Quality, but can go missing when we're under pressure[/B]
Scholes: nearly Too old
Hargreaves: Quality. Cant wait to have him back
Anderson: Needs to start fullfilling his potential
Gibson: Tremendous prospect. Has the mental strength, and a tidy shot on him too
Giggs: nearly Too old

thats a far more accurate appraisal of our current midfield options. I'd love to see aguero at united too

If we get hold of this bloke we are pissing off Berbatov just like we pissed off Tevez when we bought that Bulgarian.

Our attack looks balanced at the moment, with only the striking option looking thin. If any thing is needed we need a creative midfielder to replace Scholes very quickly and probably a GK and a top class striker one or two seasons down the line.

I cannot see us spending big money on anyone at this stage to be honest. I would be in favour of a Kun transfer but not at the ridiculous price that they would want.
