Pogba is irritatingly bad at it. His runs are invariably towards the ball rather than into space, and you can always trust him to take 3 touches when only 1 will do.
Hence why we need a Carrick type player that will find Pogba and co. in between the lines.
When Pogba knows someone will find his runs in behind, he will do it more often. See the Man City game.
Our forwards can all finish but we struggle to get ball to them quickly enough. Lingard is the best we have at doing the Lampard role. An upgrade is what we're crying out for.
Don't get me wrong I'm not really a fan of having savic over pogba. I'm a huge pogba fanboy. But the way people have been forming options good and bad of players with one world cup match is frankly ridiculous. As you said savic isn't the player we need but when some posters base that off of 45 mins of a an international game I makes me laugh

He's been good but not worth signing for the price quoted. Doesn't significantly improve what we already have. What's been encouraging is Matic's performance.

Pogba constantly drops for the ball because no one has the ability to 1) drive with the ball and progress up the pitch 2) play in between the lines.

This is the first time I'm seeing the lad and he looks like he'll be a very good player. But what would make me apprehensive is the positions he takes up, he wouldn't fit in our team in this position.

Also saw him in a couple of games in Europa League and Serie A this season and he was nothing special either. Definitely not worth the amount Lazio want. Italians are famous for wanting over the top money for their players. Like Zamparini did with Pastore or De Laurentiis with Cavani. And they sold both of them for a lot cheaper than they asked in the end. You're deluding yourself if you think he's worth 100m.
Not the Kovacic thread(if there even is one)but he'd probably be the more easily/cheaper obtainable although why we'd need to buy him alongside Fred/Pogba/Matic/Herrera I don't know?

The thing that's stood out the most for me is his height - there is no way that bloke is 6ft 4in, I'm not having it. He doesn't look visibly big, like Pogba and even Fellaini do. The Costa Rican CB's are hardly giants and they don't seem noticeably smaller than him?

It would be another case of shoehorning another talented player into the team, and in the end causing problems, instead of solving them to me.

How? DLP like Carrick, Scholes, Pirlo, Alonso, Xavi can create goal scoring opportunities without making forward runs and feed attack more opportunities and collect a ball from back and transition to attack in second with a quick pass. Put Savic as CM/advanced instead of putting DLP type, opportunities for the attack would be reduced by huge because Savic doesn't pick a pass to exploit space as he'll be running and be more direct.
Fair enough. I know it's probably silly to base that thought on this game but he really doesn't look like he would fit in at United unless we got rid of Pogba.
