There's some rule that prevents one club from same continent buying another. Don't know what it is exactly but remember City or someone being prevented from buying another club.

What if we go 4222 like we have seen in some games this season? We are being linked with Fred as well so maybe he partners Matic in a deeper position. Sandro provides the width on the left while Sanchez/Martial and Pogba work in more central areas. Savic the same as Pogba but on the right?
Unless Fellaini goes, do we have enough money and space for Fred + Savic though? I personally hope we buy two fullbacks and Fred + Savic
I can only see a LB(Sandro hopefully) and a CM. Savic would be a dream but Fred more realistic

I think we will only sign a 2nd CM if Fellaini leaves. If he stays, then it will only be one of SMS or Fred that comes in.
We have space for two players in midfield regardless of Fellaini's fate.
4-2-2-2 is not an option for us, it was just one off game. Jose mentioned that in the post match comment right after we played 4-2-2-2.

Agreed. He looks like a hybrid of the two. On the surface he looks like an attack minded Pogba clone but the more I see the more he seems to have a complete box to box vibe about him. High technical ability, tracks back an defends well, an aerial threat, and generally someone who can advance the attack with a bit of flair and directness.

He's a Matic replacement for me, at least the Matic that was at Chelsea a few years ago who was happy taking the ball forward as well as tackling.

Some strange comments recently in this thread. He makes just over 1 and a half tackles per game on average which is exactly the same as Pogba in his champions league games this season, and less than Pogba in his first premier league season back at United.

In no way is SMS a DM. You're overrating his defensive ability.
He's definitely not a Matic repalacement. As mentioned before, he's a bit of a hybrid of Pogba, Matic, with a bit of AdM thrown in.
Looks more of Pogba + Fellaini to me.

I don't see any Fellaini similarities other than being comparably tall. SMS is far more technical and creative imo.
Ability to get the ball down using physical ability despite being outnumbered, even coming from behind being screened out when the ball first travel from the passer. Presence in the box to occupy an area and repel anyone attempt to try com near the ball.
Fellaini can be a type of second forward (especially at Everton) while can get involved in midfield. Until his time with Mourinho, Fellaini didn't play that deep of midfield role. SMS is similar. Pogba role is similar more to Yaya that his goal scoring involvement is more outside the box. Supporting the forward playing behind them than actually get on the same position to share the burden of holding up play.
Many of these are equally Pogba characteristics. The ability to use his size and technical ability to shield the ball from opponents, the flair of his passing etc

Here we're not talking about side or technicality but pure physicality. Just simply overpowering opposition.
The game against City at OT in LVG first season is the best example to see the point I tried to explain regarding Fellaini's pure physicality vs Yaya mixed of physical and technicality. Fellaini basically won vs Yaya that game every duel they had, just by playing simple and physically. Fellaini would never be close to the overall package Yaya was.
Pogba is strong and all, but he's weak in certain situation. Aerial ability he is not getting the best out of his physique and physicality.

Physical and wins more headers than Fellaini does. Only Smalling and Lukaku won more headers for us than MS did for Lazio, and he won the most in his team
His technical ability is a little unexpected for someone so big. We'd better get used to him and Pogba trying to outdo each other to show off how strong they each are and how many times they can put their foot on the ball and roll it.
