Scott McTominay (Out) - Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Leicester interested

They've already shown they are willing to walk away from deals if they think they are getting screwed over, plus while they may have the richest owners they are limited to what they can spend this summer given they had an outlay of 90 million in Jan and 60 I think so far this summer, leaving them with around 20 million left due to the Premier League's FFP regulations.

Thank you for the information! I just did not like the way they acted when we were in for Longstaff, but I guess we can’t fleece them then.

Not that I want to risk being viewed as a man in support of McTominay but I really enjoy the tendancy of people on this forum to add a digit to someone's age to really emphasise their point.

He’ll be 26 this season, and I imagine he won’t be loaned out for 6 weeks. So of course, he is 25 now, but if we loan him out for a year it’s a 26 year old player on loan for the most part. I do note that he is 25 today, but if we sent him on loan tomorrow, that’s his ‘25’ done with us. He’s 26 in a few months, and we’ll be getting him back ready to start next season a few months short of 27. Is that really necessary for Scott blooming McTominay?

Would be a poor decision to sell him. He is on very low wages, counts towards our homegrown quota, is a decent player who has barely had any coaching since a teenager.

Meanwhile Fred is no better, is approaching 30 and on a much higher salary. Out of the two, he is the one we should be shifting, but nobody is likely to match his wages (probably why Scott is one of the few players we feasibly COULD sell)

Nottinhgam Forrest will buy him. I saw it in my dreams.

Fred is miles ahead of McTominay, McTominay can't get in Scotland's midfield nevermind the Brazil one

If we put him up for sale Moyesie would 100% want him. We could easily get £20m no matter how shite we think he is. He is grossly overrated by others.

20 million? Nah, we should aim for more. Gibbs-White went for 25 guaranteed. McTominay is a full international with over 3 years premiership experience, and a starter (god help us!) for Manchester United.

Doubt we'll sell him, Fred and Casemiro are not lasting 60 games.

Another of the few players from recent years who i actually like, but simply isn't good enough for the top. Good enough for PL yes, but not here

I think a lot of players' development including those from the academy have suffered with the constant change of managers.

I think he will have done well for himself if he becomes a starter at most of these teams for a considerable time. I dont believe Fred and McTom have performed at a better level than most of their midfielders

I think its either him or Garner who should go, as Casemiro would play in most of our games.

DM - Casemiro, Mctominay/Garner
CM - Fred, VDB, Zidane
AM - Eriksen, Bruno, Meijbri

Why 7 instead of 6? Realistically what use would it be keeping Mctominay if signed another CM? We've never struggled in previous seasons with 6 options, it's just the quality of those 6 has been shite.
I just like the one extra player since it'll be busy leading up to the World Cup and in case of a couple injuries. Plus I don't want guys like Iqbal and Savage waiting around for the odd game.

I’d sell Scotty a loan is pointless as we already know his ceiling whereas we don’t know garners ceiling, it could be lower than Scotty (unlikely) or it could be high enough to contribute as an effective squad player.

I do think we could and should get some sort of fee for him. Not everyone else in the league has realized how utterly hopeless he is yet. Take 20 million and laugh all the way to the bank.

Think Mctomminay is usable as a squad option especially in this era of 5 substitutes. So long as he's not a pivotal first team member he surely can have a role to contribute to this season.
If you need someone who can’t defend and will chip in with a few fouls, sure we can use him.

Sell him and Garner, and go and buy another quality deep lying midfielder or number 8 depending on the formation EtH wants to play.

Don't even want him at Melbourne Victory. Send him to the Scottish second division.

Let him go if price is right.
Otherwise should keep as backup option until we get better reinforcements. Our midfield is still too thin and will be in trouble if injury wreck us.

I could see him, Garner and Donny all leaving. That’d offset the Casemiro fee.

Not so much the change of managers, more so that both Mourinho and Ole were poor at developing players and wasted almost six years of the most important developmental time of what was a very young and talented squad.

Despite the narrative, we really haven't changed managers that often. From 13/14 to 21/22, we went through four full time managers. Five if you want to include Rangnick since he was there for half a season. The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barca, etc have all changed more often than we have, despite having far more success than we have.

3 midfielders? We'd have to get 1 more in surely?
Besides who fills in for Casemiro when we rest him?Every game he doesn't play is a potential defeat .

Every game we play McTominay at DM is a potential defeat. He isn't of any use to us, even as cover.

Jesus Christ you think i'm suggesting we keep McTominay     .
Bwuk suggested 3 players could leave with Casemiro coming in so surely we would need another midfield signing.
I'll drive McTominay to his next club if it helped to get rid of him, i never said we should keep him.

The only player there that could cover Casemiro if he's out is McTominay. This is a thread about McTominay potentially leaving. That does not mean I think we should keep him. For context;

I can see selling McT. I do not see a huge upside her and think he is just not good enough.

Garner is the one I see some potential in. No idea why we are so eager to sell him...

He cannot cover for Casemiro (assuming that he does not turn into a turd once he arrives at Carrington). In theory he could play this position in a similar fashion in League 1.
