Scott McTominay (Out) - Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Leicester interested

I am loathe to selling CMs at this time because we are not blessed with many, but done dealio for the right price

People actually want us to keep him?! Getting rid of dross like McTominay while he still retains some value is absolutely vital to redeveloping the squad in ten Hag's image. He needs to fecking leave, tonight if possible.
Yes exactly!
At this stage we all want these wasters to leave because we've lost trust in management to see that they aren't good enough.
If ETH can finally see what the rest of us have been seeing for years then it doesn't actually matter if he goes or not because he won't play him anyway.

But still better safe than sorry, sell or give away please

Another of the few players from recent years who i actually like, but simply isn't good enough for the top. Good enough for PL yes, but not here

Think we keep him this year as a backup/Europa League player. Can't risk running first XI to the ground.

Makes much more sense to sell McTominay than Garner IMO. Sure Garner's still unknown quantity, and we don't know his real potential yet, but we do know McTominays' and it's just not good enough unfortunately.
There would be plenty of others that I would rather get rid of than him but McT is on relatively low wages so we could hopefully get a decent figure for him. Would reckon around 20m.

I come on Redcafe after a nap and see that we might be getting rid of Maguire and McTominay. Surely I must be dreaming? This is too good to be true

No they don’t. Stop making things up and getting annoyed about it
Er, are you daft? :wenger: At least three people have suggested we keep him. I'm not making anything up and I'm certainly not annoyed! Thanks for the tip though.

We may be able to get 20-30m for him, which would help a lot toward the bigger signings we are making.

Oh my icky ticker....

Harry and Scott gone?!

Who is this Ten Hag and why is he doing this to our team??!
He feels like the messiah. Finally doing the things previous managers have been scared to do.

McTominay’s last couple of games could have been his last for Utd. It’s sad to see how badly he struggled and no doubt he’ll be hurting but he’s been well out of his depth.

If we got 30m that would be the best sale we’ve ever done under the glazers!

I hope we fleece Newcastle, just like how they wanted to rip us off with Longstaff.

We sold Dan James for a profit
I think James was a reasonable sale. The price was about his level.

But I don’t see McTominay offering anything to a team in the premier league. He really is championship level.

We all know his limitations, but he's a mainstay in midfield for a top 6 club, regular for his national side and best age for a midfielder. We should easily get upwards of 30m

If ETH for rid of all these shit players and got sacked after 10 games due to results, he should still get a statute outside old trafford because it’s been like trying to get bird poo off the windscreen. These players have been dragging us down for years.

Guys... I'm drunk. To see this when drunk... just get rid. When sober... Just get rid. Simples haha

I’m not sure what the article means by “it’s hard to see how McTominay starts another PL game for United”.

He’ll stay and start 15-20 games easy.

He'll never be remotely good enough, snap anyone's hand off for over 5mil.

A genuine question as I don't really follow Scotland national team, is he any good at cb?

No, and McGinn, McGregor and Gilmour are better midfielders

He plays as a midfielder only when McGregor or Gilmour are not available

Hanley, Hendrie, Souttar, McKenna, Cooper

He could be also benched as a CB

international for a pretty poor team frankly, and a mainstay in a midfield that was so bad it got morphed into McFred and memed into oblivion.

If West Ham were to bid, it better not be a pound over 20 million, and even then I think thats being generous based on what I've seen in recent months frankly. With that being said I think there will be suitors, just hope my team isn't one of them.

If you look at the fees other players fetched, like that dude Forest signed, no way should 20m be enough. United being a bit shoddy at selling players, I'd expect the final fee to be in that region, though

Harsh on Championship players.

As a squad player we might see him thrive.
He has had a lot of pressure to try and be something he isn't.
Having a rotation role may suit him. You need players like Darren Fletcher et al who are flexible rotation options.
The lower expectations may help him.
He's no world beater but he has shown commitment, athelticism and can clearly follow instructions. Also has an eye for a goal occasioanlly

The problem is as someone said earlier, with alot of those expensive players its based on pure potential that they might really come good.

We all know Scott's potential at this point, he's played enough to have a pretty good idea his limits. I'm sure for a newly promoted side he might be worth having, or even a lower half of table side. I just don't see him having the ability for a team with higher ambitions to go for.

I'd personally not want to see my team go beyond 20 million, he isn't worth that to the team (I don't think he is any better than what we've got right now and buying squad depth for that price at a team of West Ham's income is a bit pricey IMO).

Part ex for Bowen. Sure.

Yeah thats ridiculous.

Of the clubs supposedly interested, if we were looking at any potential swap deals I'd be keen on Tielemans or Walker-Peters. Tielemans isn't ideal signing but I think he'd be a good balance with Casemiro.

All fair points mate, you wouldn't really need or play him as a starter. I think for a team that does intent to use him that way, he's worth more

Should keep Garner and take any half decent offer we get for McTom.

I struggle to see him as even an extra body in midfield, let alone a backup.

He’s absolutely useless and a detriment to
the squad. Get rid.
