If casemiro needs mctominay to play well against a guaranteed to go down Burnley we're truly fecked.

Also, mctominay was shite and its getting tiresome that he is being constantly defended for shit tier performances
I know that that people like to bully. People find someone and have a go at him regardless of anything. McTominay and Casemiro were very good closing down space infront of our backline. That space we let so many goals in last couple of games and seasons. Good game from him.

Massively let down as a footballer by his inability to play on the half turn.

He's actually technically sound, when he's playing in straight lines - he's caught between a CB, a CM and a CF

No he isn't. There's a 50/50 chance the ball explodes off him and goes to an opposition player each time he touches it.

I see the scapegoating has started again.

Diabolical first half but much better in the second. Will likely be phased out in the coming weeks as Amrabat is eased in and Mount returns.

But what I'm saying is, his ball striking ability i.e. shooting or pinging a long pass is good, but he can't play on the half-turn, so as you say, at times he looks really clumsy

Thought he was alright, nothing to write home about but surely no shocker. Was ok for a player who should only come on as a sub or play in the cups. Glad Hannibal got minutes today, as long as McTom isn't taking minutes away from potentially better players, than I am fine.

He is a bad sub though, takes a while to get to the pace of a game. That is were Fred is missed, he had that great spell last year coming off the bench impacting the game, some players are like that.
By your own assertion, given it takes him 45 mins to get up to speed in a game and actually offer anything other than peril, brining him on to defend a lead is possibly the worst use for him
I thought he did well against Forest when he came on in the final few minutes.

In any case, we all know he really shouldn't be here. But he has his uses and as long as he's here, might as well make use of them.

I think he was terrible the first 45 mins because we were trying to force play when we had the ball at 0-0, and it's well known he's not great at that. When we had the lead, his job was to block the space for the opposition pass and he was decent at that. Nothing special, but not terrible either.

Hopefully, Amrabat is as good as the Caf makes him sound and he can play next to Casemiro soon enough.

Ah, fair enough then.

He used to be really quite good at turning and running with the ball. Think he has lost some of the agility and acceleration he had 2-3 years ago and confidence in it is gone.

In his eyes he's still 22. Just give him another few years to reach his peak.

I've been one of Scott's biggest critics over the last couple of years, but I do think people are being a little harsh on him today.

It was easily his best performance of the season. Still not actually 'good', but he also wasn't terrible. Well, there were moments in the first half that he was, but on the flip side there were moments in the second half he was actually good, so overall I'd say he was 'ok-ish' today.

Way better in the second half after being really frustrating in the first. Tried to get lots of tackles in the first half but failed a fair few and kept getting ran past. As I said, second half much better, much more successful with his tackling and closing down.

Give credit where its due he got on the ball more often too.

Stacking shelves in the megastore?

I didn't say I was happy with it, nor that he played well. Literally in my post "he didn't play well"

Please read.

I read. Just saying it shouldn’t even be a footnote that a player “ran hard”. Isn’t that the bare minimum? I mean unless it’s a prime Kante like level of covering ground I don’t even find it noteworthy.

It’s the same shit people said last season about Weghorst when he was here doing feck all.

From Case, yes. Thought McTominay was poor.

Thought he was largely okay, not particularly good but I think the criticism is over the top. Even looking at the stats they paint a different picture than what some are saying about him and praising others for.

I do think controlling possession will be a constant issue for us when he's in our midfield though.

Im convinced you are Scott McTominay.

Either that, or his mum!!!

All round quality is really low with this guy. Second half he made some good defensive interceptions but really that’s about for 90mins.

He is at his best when we have momentum and are on the front foot, as soon as the going get tough he hides.

Good performance. Helped prevent Burnley creating much. Super cross near the end.

Wasn't he a striker converted into cm? Certainly doesn't look like a midfielder, and would explain why he can occasionally seem dominant when driving forward with the ball, but can never be consistent.
