Arcadia was in trouble before to be fair. Still a huge amount unemployed though as theyre a big employer.

Oh yeah, wasn't specifically saying them, but it seems a lot of people are expecting to go bankrupt within days, surely that's not how responsible companies operate ?

Feels strange putting all these measures in, seeing whats happening in italy and we're still halfarsing the isolation.

Has the magnitude of this sunk in for anyone yet? I’m really struggling to get my head around it.

Fantastic move to prepare the ground for any upcoming lockdown.

That's still probably some time away, but this with assuage the fears of a lot of people and make them more amenable to following oppressive instructions when they come.

The figures we delved into the other day with cases, tests and populations per region made clear that there is still a long way to go until the ceiling.

Flattening the curve is not enough once you have gone long beyond the point at which health systems can cope.

Even though we have Trump, I genuinely feel sorry for those in the UK. These half-measures won't work and even now it may be too little too late.

Think this should have happened a week ago, but good to see tories supporting the public.

Conference was all a bit overwhelming.

Are they saying anybody that has to self isolate will get paid 80% of their wages or this aimed more at the people being laid off rather than the ones that still have a job open?

Boris dropping the ball on Mother’s Day. Just say NO. It was an obvious question and he fecked it.

Hopefully the closest we ever get to WW III. It’s the most impactful event since WW II. It’s the thing we will tell our future children and grandchildren about and they won’t be able to get their head around it, I only hope.

Yep! This needs to sink in to everyone!

I seriously hope that helps me. I'm technically a company director (pffft) and pay myself bare minimum and take what I can dividends.

They need to take that into account or allow me to pay myself a proper wage and claim.

If so I can tick over enough to take care of my self employed fella too for a few months.

Boris looked like he just he swallowed a cup of cold sick when he was asked about zero hour contracts being covered.

Feck, they’ll hit 1,000 deaths in a day very soon the way it’s going. Are the restrictive measures not having any effect?
More than likely it's already spread out of control. The incubation period for the virus can be up to 14 days, which is staggering.

EDIT: I also read the symptoms can gradually worsen and there are lead times in testing, so you may be looking at a 3-week delay before a case is recorded and perhaps an additional two weeks until they die.

Well yeah which is why so many were insane to think Herd Immunity would ever work. The men in suits are killing people.

All this fecking nonsense about waiting for the right time to lockdown. I can't believe what is happening right now. Humanity is nuts.

So surreal seeing the helicopter footage of streets of Central London being empty

There is a too much latency, so people have already been infected by contaminated people that weren't showing symptoms yet. And then you have to consider the amount of people that are currently in criticial conditions some say that 10%-20% are seemingly succumbing. Currently Italy has 38k active cases, how many of them will be critical in the next 10 days?

Nope. You read it, you watch it, you talk to people you know who has ether been affected by it or know someone who's been affected by it, but it still doesn't sink in. We're all appalled by the numbers and scale, but (i can only speak for myself here) i just can't quite grasp it.
