SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

It's basically the same as players getting injured, we don't cancel football because of it. There are arguments to cancelling football, most of all the fact that we probably can't realistically keep on allowing people into stadiums which takes away from expensive but I wouldn't say that players getting ill is one of them.
Injuries a bit different, if Martial gets injured then the rest of the squad doesn't get injured. If Martial catches corona virus then the rest of the squad would have to be quarantined. How can a club continue to play if they are quarantined? They'd have to suspend their matches for 2 weeks or play the youth unless they're in quarantine also.

Paying close attention for the next couple of days because the missus and I have our first night out since the wee man was born almost two years back. But it's in the city this weekend which is going to be jam packed. Not worth bringing back something to infect the entire household just for the sake of a night in a hotel, but we'll wait and see.

373 cases confirmed in the UK - 6 in Wales, 16 in Northern Ireland, 27 in Scotland, the rest in England.

Trying to get my money back from Ryanair is predictably difficult

There reason is:

Flight has not been cancelled or delayed > 3 hours
The BBC reported at 15:06 that Ryanair have cancelled all flights to/from Italy for the next two days.

British people are inherently arrogant - stiff upper lip brigade, we beat the Germans we can beat this. Ignorant
British people have been panicking as much as anyone.

But by the same token, every football stadium has been full for the last few days. I dare say it's the same everywhere around Europe outside of the major hotspots who have enforced empty stadia (Italy, Spain, etc). Including Ireland.

Like trying to get blood from a stone, had a right battle with them at the end of last year, I gave up in the end...
Ryanair are nearly impossible to get a return from. Even if they cancel flights, they could likely not reimburse you by just making the process so inconvenient that you will just give up.

If a player gets it the whole team will have to go into quarantine and anybody they played against in the last two weeks will too. It's already happened in Italy. In short, if more than one or two players get it the league is over.

Does anyone know how many cases in india or Pakistan yet? Im pretty sure when it hits those densly populated areas we will see a global surge in numbers.

Getting pretty bad in Spain, 400+ cases in 1 day. It's following the exact same pattern like Italy, just that it started a bit later...

They are a terrible company, agreed, but this is somewhat of an exaggeration. If they cancel you will 100% get a refund. Might not be immediately but it will come.

I think the poster above needs to realise that all airlines will be having meltdowns now and phones will be non stop ringing.

If you are persistent with it, you will get your money. In some cases, if the fee is really small, people just prefer to give up and not go through all the procedures to get £20 back though, which is probably their intent.

If you've paid more than €50 for a Ryanair flight you've chosen the wrong airline anyway.

I'm working on a customer site for the foreseeable future. They've just told us they are going to be working remotely for the next few weeks at least. Looks like I'll be doing the same then.

We had a cancellation, and were assured all our ongoing costs to get home would be covered.

They eventually offered us, I think it was, £7. Needless to say it cost us a lot more than that to get home

That's a scary chart. Not just for how efficient S. Korea and China have been, but for how utterly inefficient it shows the West has been.

Everything the west have done so far has been reactive and we're going to end up paying for it.

They literally must be jazzing over their neighbours faces over there the rate of spread is massive.

Or you know, they're just testing for it.

For all the moaning about the British government seems its relatively under control as far as it can be they might actually know what their doing.

More fun to moan about their incompetence though.

UK has the same rate of growth as Italy -- it's just been offset by a few days.

At this point I'm honestly significantly more worried about my family and friends in the UK than I am for myself and the Mrs here in China. People just aren't taking it as seriously as it needs to be taken.

Its amazing, China has warned us, Iran and the stories about Italy warning us are all over the net. Certain sections of the NHS here are already on its knees.

Not at all. They're freely admitting that they aren't testing enough people as numerous people with symptoms who've dialled 111 can confirm.

Do we have figures for testing numbers around Europe? I have a pretty good site for this but it doesn't cover number of tests completed.

EDIT.

As of 9am today 26,261 test have been completed in the UK.

As somebody who works in the NHS I can confirm that this is going to be a shit show.

I'm due to go milan on may 16 for 3 nights. I haven't booked accommodation yet. Shall I book it now before all the rebooked folk increase demand?
