Santiago Cazorla

Lampard is 4 times as prolific as Iniesta. If people think that goals are "relevant" but also want to play the "relevant but not the only relevant thing" game so they can escape the "Iniesta-Lampard" mysery, it begs the question which degree of relevance the goal stat can actually have if someone 4 times as prolific is regarded 10 times the inferior player. Not very relevant then, I'd say.

I'm ending this discussion here since I'm only repeating myself anyway.

You make it seem that having Cazorla would be the same as having Iniesta. Well it's not. Iniesta is the 3rd best player in the world. Both Lampard and Cazorla are far behind. Hardly any footballer today is comparable to Iniesta. Ronaldo is very different. Messi is the best player around. If you take Messi and Ronaldo out of the discussion then I don't think anyone would rightly choose a player over Iniesta. Well, there are always a few (like the ones that think Neymar is the BPITW).

Just take a deep breath and try to make your point without mentioning Iniesta.

Kaka is a forward, Iniesta is a midfielder. Cant believe this shit.

Next graphic should be Messi and Xabi Alonso

So Rondon has been sold. Nowhere near the statement of intent that selling Isco or Cazorla would be but still.

What happened to the news that Arsenal were going to complete the Cazorla signing ?

I was wondering about that. I suspect it's something to do with the payment structure. Cazorla is owed wages by Malaga. Villareal are owed a chunk of the transfer fee. The tax office is hovering.

Malaga have probably asked for payment in gold bars to a yacht moored off Gibraltar.

To which Wenger has probably replied that he'll pay 100k now and the rest will be based on incentives. £100 million when Arsenal win the league.

Let's just define his role and how well he perform up to his role first. If people want to judge by stats the more relevant ones are no. of pass, completion, key pass and assist made. Even so stats only tells half the story, especially for a midfielder, no stats could reflect how well one orchestrate the midfield play, which is one of the key role of a midfielder.

Arsenal are set to confirm the signing of Malaga midfielder Santi Carzola after he passed a medical and joined the club at their pre-season training camp in Germany.
The 27-year-old Spain international will sign a long-term contract for a fee below £15m.
Malaga's financial problems delayed the move, but it is likely to be announced on Tuesday.
Arsenal are also working on a loan deal for 23-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.
They hope to add the Turkey international to a squad already boosted by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski and France striker Olivier Giroud from Montpellier.
Doubts remain over the future of captain Robin van Persie, who has said he will not extend his current contract when it expires in 2013.
But the Dutch striker is with the squad in Germany ahead of Sunday's friendly against Cologne on, which was agreed as part of the Podolski transfer.
The Cazorla and Sahin deals are unrelated to Van Persie, but were accelerated by news that Jack Wilshere will not play before October as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Cazorla, who joined Malaga from Villarreal last summer, stands at 5ft 6ins and featured for Spain at the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
Real Madrid signed Sahin from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year contract in May 2011 but he has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu and Real boss Jose Mourinho would let him leave on loan.

Could be the signing of the summer. He or Kagawa I'd tip so far.

Yeah, great bit of business by AW and if your lot can add Sahin as well, force RvP to stay (probably not going to happen but you never know in football) - you'll have a great squad for next season.

(just please sort out that defense ;) )

Have to say, it's a great signing for Wenger, it's about time he stopped just buying youth all the time too.

If they get a defender or two I could see them challenging again.

Strange how this guy is now the second coming, when a month ago nobody cared about him.

He isn't the second coming but he doesn't need to be. He's a good player, with plenty of experience, he'll make Arsenal a better team and they got him at a good price.

You could say the same about Kagawa.

No you couldn't ?

He's just been the second best player at a club who won the double. Those who kept an eye on bundasliga or Dortmund and their success knew he was a big player.

That's my point nitwit. Anyone who followed European football regularly would've known about both these players and their talent. Cazorla has over 50 caps for Spain.

You're reading this wrong. Maybe I didn't put it across right, I was merely stating that to say nobody had heard of Cazorla is like saying nobody had heard of Kagawa.

Well i am glad, Cazorla was not exactly on everyone's wishlist, else we would not have been able to afford him.
the price 15m pounds stated in media, seems like an absolute bargain for me.

Fortune i agree, coupled with patience & research.

Arsenal didn't compromise after losing out on Mata & Cazorla last year and waited for right player.
Arsenal obviously been tracking Malaga's finances and capitalised at the right time.

Lucky for us Chelsea went on their spree very early on. I can't wait to see him in action - apparently we were close to signing him last season, and that we were his preferred destination, but Malaga came in with a cash-upfront offer that blew us out of the park.

And what did he win last year nimrod?

Kagawa was nominated for the ballon d'or. I guess Santi Cazorla's nomination was lost in the mail

Yeah, it seems last summer was a phase where everything went wrong.
This one, well, i would wait till it ends but so far it's been brilliant.

Bringing in right players at right price.

Its completely different because Kagawa has done more in his career despite being younger and comes to this country having helped his team to the double

People knew about Cazorla but few were calling him a world beater. Kagawa is different.

Hold on, weren't you arguing that last summer was all part of Arsenal's cunning negotiation tactics? That leaving everything to the last minute was some grand tactical plan?

You're making this up as you go along, aren't you?

Good signing, the question is who will Arsenal sell him to within four years time?

I don't think many Arsenal fans could genuinely claim that last summer wasn't one of the most poorly organised in the history of the club. It was a complete shambles. This summer, however, we've made some inroads to try and win some supporters back.

I have a feeling that this is going to break many hearts.

It didn't. :D

Great signing. Valencia wheres that Alba money at

Guardian is saying personal terms agreed just waiting on Malaga's reaction to a £15M bid.

Might have to wait a while for them to stop laughing

This one is just a bit more likely than Mata was. So if he comes you can expect him to be airlifted to the emirates by flying pigs

Would be a great signing for you, but so would Ozil

Imagine this in an Arsenal shirt.

Now wake up. You might be able to take Joaquin though
