Samuel Umtiti

Quick summary:

- He refused to answer questions about the negotiations and Manchester United.
- He doesn't talk about it to anyone else than his agent and Barcelona, not even his family.
- He loves his life in Catalunya.
- He wants to captain Barcelona.
- He speaks spanish and he is close to the spanish players.

He wants to be Barca captain but refuses to talk about the United links? So clear as day that the cnut is pulling a Ramos on us. Luckily, Jose is not as gullible as LvG was.

Tbh we weren’t really gullible. It was exactly the same situation.

I'm pretty sure that he studied extensively Ramos but he is under contract with Barcelona, so it's not surprising to see him talk about his future at Barcelona and refuse to talk about his future out of it.

Back to the Alderwireld thread then.

as i said, he wants to stay and they will meet in the middle. He doesnt want to move and while more cash is nice, he wouldnt trade Barca for United, adding the Spain life and guaranteed trophies.

I would say nobody has said he's unhappy at Barca but he wouldn't be the first to put money in front of everything.

People realise this guy is using us to get pay rise from Barca, no? Move on please. Toby Alderweireld is attainable if we're looking for quick fix for our defense.

And what are the reported reasons for Alderweireld wanting to leave Spurs?

Is it only players who play in Spain could be ‘using United for a pay rise?’ After all, what if Levy caves in and meets Alderweireld’s demands? Would he then just have been using us?

Players want what they feel they are worth. Few are going to come simply down to the fact that United is the only club for them. If their club caves and pays, then they stay, but if they don’t, Umtiti will likely leave for a better payer, just as you are proposing Toby does.

Don't think it'll happen sadly

Because why would you want the best CB in the World who is still only 24?
best CB?! really?
And looks like age is your only criteria for transfer. I dont understand cafe's over-emphasis on age.
Last time we bought best LB who is only 19/20 - dint turn out well, did it?

Umtiti is a great defender, but 60M for transfers and then 9m Net ( after tax) wages is hell lot of money to spend on a defender especially considering we have other positions to fill as well.

There is a big difference between a 19 year old player and a 24 year old player.

I doubt United and Jose were even interested in the first place. We have too many centrebacks at the club for this to happen, and will need to offload at least one first before doing any of this business, and we have Lindelof whom we still have to develop

It probably would not be that hard to offload one or two if needed.

Still does not justify his 60M fees+ 9M wages

60m would be an absolute bargain for Umtiti. Not only one of the best pure defenders in the game, he’s one of the best technical CB’s around and seems to be supremely consistent.

Arguably the best CB in the world already and he’s probably got 10 years left.

Is there a single reason to think this guy could actually leave Barca? I don't understand why this thread is already 9 pages.

Anyone who doesn’t think Umiti is worth £60m in ‘today’s market’ needs their head checked. He definitely won’t come here though.

Is there actually any truth in any of this? As much as it makes too much sense for us to go for him, chances of this happening

We should be using our financial muscle the way Barca/Madrid used their own in the past 10 years and offer the best wages. It makes a huge amount of sense for us to go for him.

Spurs are smaller club than Barca so he's more likely to move to bigger club and Aldewerield has cheaper buy out clause than umtiti which i think it's important as we have more urgent positions to be fix.

They will reportedly cost a similar amount, and Alderweireld wants more money, which has prompted the whole debate surrounding his future in the first place. I appreciate Barcelona are a better team, but the two situations are not very dissimilar.

I don’t think how financially motivated professionals are. If anything, it will be harder to get Alderweireld anyway, given Umtiti has a release clause and Toby would require convincing Daniel bloodclart Levy to sell a footballer to Manchester United.

Except for he is not the best pure defender, far from it. But he might be one of the best technical CB ( not the best though).
He surely would be one of the most expensive though, if we spend 60M on him.

Wake up Guys..This is Barca version of Sergio Ramos story couple years back!!!!:D:):)

To be fair, I think 80% of the people who posted here are convinced he is not coming and are just posting similar opinions over and over again. The only arguments that are taking place is whether he is worth 60M in market and all such stuff.
