Would like to to see a Mane, Martial and Memphis (once he sorts himself out) trio, would be electric.
I'd call it a wet dream. We could scrap the 4-2-3-1 and go for a proper 4-3-3.

The question shouldn't be, can he score for us, it should be, can he score for us when teams park the bus defend in depth and look to counter.

That's the majority of teams we face. Most teams don't look to play with us, they look to play Mourinho ball. I think that is the litmus test for a striker playing for United. How do they do when the openings are not there, when its very tight and when teams are looking to sit back and counter stroke.
Some of our biggest matches will be against strong opposition, such as the top 4 in the BPL and the stronger teams in the CL, who will attack and give space for quick counter attacking players. He would be very useful in these (important) games.

I see your point though, and although I think he's good enough for first choice right winger, Mata, who should be shifted more to the middle, could cover there when needed.

Let's see if he can keep performing like against Chelsea for the rest of the season, then i wouldn't be against spending 40m on him.

Looking forward to him against the high line of Skrtel and Sakho tomorrow. I transfered him and instaput him as captain on fantasy :D

Better spend that money on Griezmann.

Exactly, for £25-28m Mane would be a decent signing, but for £40m might as well just go all out add some money on and get Griezmann or Rues

If we have to definitely sign Premier League upstarts, rather Mahrez to be honest. Same age group, both will be away for the Africon, same tag of not being proven or experienced at the very highest level like a Griezmann or Reus is, both kind of good last season, and exploding into life in the current one; but Mahrez has that extra bit of sexy joga bonito about him - arguably a Top 3 attacker in the entire league this season. And he'll probably cost half as much as Mane, Southampton do a really good job of milking buyer clubs.

Both will be punts to a degree, neither one is super proven - Mahrez definitely a bit more obscure than Mane; but either way we'll be trying to mold their talents than getting the finished article. The transfer could backfire, as could one for Mane to be honest; but it might be more rewarding to go for a guy who has shown a devastating level that is really up there with the best we've seen in the league for a while in Mahrez.

Or, we could do the rational thing, and activate Griezmann's buyout clause. Now there is a payer with pedigree, and already on the verge of joining elite company. Just because Di Maria didn't work out, doesn't mean we should given up on signing world class marquee internationals. There were extraneous circumstances at play with both Di Maria and Falcao lest we forget, things that we couldn't prognosticate; or plan for in advance.

I wouldn't mind adding Mahrez to our squad for like less than 20m, think it would be a good signing

Didn't Mahrez start on the bench last matchday?

Greizmann and Laporte. Use Rooney more judiciously, less frequently.

Problem sorted.

I just can't fathom paying Hazard or Ageuro money for Mane.

I agree with you on Griezmann but I am starting to wonder if LvG is wary of slighter built forwards after Di Maria. If you look at the players we brought in this summer all are physically powerfully made, especially the two forwards.

Aguero and Hazard were bought in completely different market conditions. Market prices have close to doubled.

People need to understand that massively increasing revenues in the PL push the market prices for players up. It's basic economic theory.

PL teams are absolutely flush with this new TV deal. It is easier for a mistake PL team to retain its players than it is for almost any team abroad, bar a handful.

He will cost at least £35m. Which in relative terms is similar to what we paid for Valencia back in 09 (£17m).

We should sign him in addition to Griezmann and Stones. We need at least three top first team players. Our squad is wafer thin in terms of numbers and talent.

£40 odd million would be utter madness. He's not that good.

Considering Benteke went for 32m, they are right to ask for 35m

Mane looks like a definite top 4 player, but his price tag will depend a lot on where Southampton finish this season. With Chelsea having a mare, 4th spot will be a battle between Southampton, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs. If they stay on top of that pile, Koeman may be able to convince his best players to stay for another season.

Like him a lot and the important thing for me which is often underplayed and lessons seriously learnt is the importance of PL proven experience.

Mane shouldn't go for more then Benteke did.

I think he's a better player Sam so I don't see why not. Mane would give us devastating pace and that bit unpredictability that we are lacking up top and out wide. Would be a great addition imo although we need another couple alongside him to arrive in the summer. We are definitely going the right way under LVG regardless today's results. Long term we are on a winner with LVG.

Mane just seems to have everything in his locker to become a top, consistent player. When you have that skill set, I always struggle to see how a player could go downhill. Players do of course, but it always shocks me when it does happen.

Carry on the way he has done until January, and I could maybe see us going for it - especially if we're still in the CL. Think he's what LVG wants Memphis to be. Imagine having a Memphis-Martial-Mane front 3, with Mata behind. Bloody hell. Eminemineminem.

If Everton and the Saints are in that list, then I would say we should add West Ham too.

He's obviously worth £35 million at today's rates. Southampton would be stupid to sell for less. I love him though so might be bias.

West Ham have had a great start, but I'm not sure if they'll get into the top 4. I may be way of the mark, but I just don't think they have the squad to deal with an injury to Payet. They've definitely done enough so far to be mentioned in that list.

At this point, I'll take anyone but Chelsea and Liverpool to end up with that spot :)

What do you think he's worth? Do you think we should sign him?

Probably similar to the Pedro price. That was £25m right? Just think he's not done it for too long and he's not reached the heights that demand that sort of fee. Perhaps by the end of the season he will show he is worth it but in my opinion not at this moment.

I think if by the end of season he shows that he should be demanding £35m then yes we should get him. Currently I'd rather we aim higher. I feel we have a near perfect team, only perhaps needing a superstar. I'd rather get someone in who's better than what we have (or has the potential to be better than what we have) rather than a player who at best will be the same level as what we have.

Aware that he's playing more centrally at the moment for Soton but what about:

Martial
Mane - Herrera - Mata

Then if Memphis gets his head out his arse could have Mane as another option for the #10 role.
