Memphis is not quick either. Mane is. Very quick. He would add a huge dimension to our attack. And he was great against Norwich and Southampton to, but that did not give him the same attention.
This guy is a terrific player and is destined for a top 4 club.
That's what you think he's worth or that's what you expect Southampton to ask for?
Where did he sign from originally? Seriously he's impressed me every single time I've seen him play and he's torches all of the top PL sides so far.
He's very impressive, has pace, can dribble & scores goals. I know people will bring up Di Maria anytime we talk about players like this, but it's really different, Di Maria just didn't want to be at United [thats the feeling I got when he was here]. Mane on the other hand is a player on the upward trajectory, he wants to move up, and will want to prove himself at a big club, he'll have the determination to do well. These things are very important. I don't think how we play is a problem to an attacking player at all, with Memphis i get the feeling that he just doesn't want to make mistakes or isn't confident enough, hence playing it safe, Look at Martial, he takes on players for fun, he has that confidence and he likes doing it. Mane has that same attitude, they just want to make things happen, always running, tracking back, working his socks off, attacking & he's actually very intelligent. But let's not kid ourselves, he won't be sold in January.
I think he can do a job for us. Especially on the right wing. He can battle with Mata for that spot or push Rooney to the bench with Mata playing the #10 and Mane on the right with Depay on the left.
The only difference is that he knows and he thrives in this league.
May I ask a question? If we sign him were would we play him?

Where is he most comfortable though? It would be nice if he can settle in the RW position especially since he would release Mata who would then play be able to play behind Martial
What you have described is where i would have him if we bought him. Doubt it will happen.
That would be ideal. Unfortunately though, it's more likely to see Mata benched with Rooney continuing to stink the place up.
What I expect Southampton to ask for.
Frontline of Depay, Martial and Mane with Mata in behind and Rooney sold would be a good summer.

Would be a great option but does it seem a bit bizarre to anyone that we let nani go for close to free and we all sort of said oh yeah i can see how he might not fit in with LVG, and now looks like we could pay 30-40m for a very similar player
You've a point about them being similar, but Mane is a big upgrade on Nani.

RB Salzburg, both he and Kampl, although the latter didn't have a good season at Dortmund and I believe is now on loan(?) at Bayer Leverkusen.
You're saying those are his two most notable performances because we are big club snobs who pay little attention to when smaller clubs play each other. Last season he got a hat trick in like 6 mins against Villa I think it was, maybe Newcastle. He has destroyed many a small club that Saints are expected to beat too.

I'm a Mane fan but at this point we don't know if he's an upgrade on Nani and certainly he isn't a big upgrade. He has potential to be a very good player here and we should sign him up as he has the skill set we are lacking.
100% agree, and may i add that if he didn't perform against Chelsea & United, they'll question if he can do it against the top/CL sides. Its funny
I think Mane looks a little more explosive & productive than Nani and we needed to flog the likes of Nani, sometimes, it's best for everyone to part ways.
I think Mané could be a very good addition but let's not forget the last time we played Nani for a longer period without benching him after one bad half, he was one of the best wingers in the league.

You're absolutely right about Nani's past. But in the here and now, Mane is comfortably the better player.
Same as above mate. Nani was superb for us, but if given the choice most managers would pick Mane over Nani as things stand.
Sometimes it's not the most talented individuals who'd make the most talented team - you just need to find individuals who's key attributes will compliment the rest of his team mates and the system better. I think Mane, being a bit more direct, adding goal threat, pace and power etc. will suit us well atm.

He will not make us UCL contenders, but he will be very useful to us.
We are short in the attack department right now. He can come in this season and have an immediate impact and also give us more options and depth(we are desperate for this).
Next season, if Januzaj and Pereira have done enough this season to make a case for themselves, then, Mane's profile will not come in the way of their growth.

Martial, Rooney, Mata, Pereira, Memphis, Young, Januzaj and Mane. Looks youthful, exciting and good to me :-)

Like said before great player (atm he might be one of the best in the PL) and could be fantastic for us but:
a) He might be quite expensive by now with his price even rising based on his performances
b) LvG does not like too much pace it seems. Mane seems more like a Klopp type player.

Wanted him in the Summer. Saw a few on here who just laughed at the idea we were in for him after Pedro joining Chelsea. Seems a few are backtracking now.

Its funny how these fluctuation in post pop after a player we have interest in has has a good game.
In the summer people were thinking we should spend over 80m on Kane. Previously spend more than 50m on Barkley.
Mane is good, but Reus and Griezmann could be option in the summer and, thats who i am hoping we go for.

Ive been wanting Mane for a long time. Reus or Griezman would also be welcome but id rather have Ronaldo or Bale than either if we are going in big but Mane would just tick all the boxes (Pace, age, price, pl experience, multi functional)
Reus and Griezmann would be first option but it is not very likely that they would join us respectively their clubs will have any intentions to sell them.
I'm worried that he needs space to do his thing, rather than create the space himself.
