Mount plays further ahead, he'll be in the rotation alongside Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho for one of the two other CM spots.
Maybe they’re still in the business of buying players just to stop their rivals having them. They can afford to buy him and never play him if it means we’re weaker as a result. Would be sensible business really, they have previous with this and I think it’s plausible.

If it is a loan with option to buy, why not? We can trial first if he suits to our system. Nothing to lose here. Other options are simply not realistic atm.
Saul can play as a DM and RB? So we get a DM who can cover AWB? What's not to like?

They want two good players for every position. Their recruitment is solid and without sentiment. They see a weakness and address it. If it doesn’t work they try again. Saul would potentially be excellent signing for them because if he flops it’s no biggie. If he flops here and we get an injuries we are trouble because Scott and Fred are the only other box to box players it seems we can rely on. I’m resigned to the idea that Donny was only signed to cover Pogbas departure. No space for him with Pogba still here and that’s why he never gets any love and he’s not being developed aggressively. Maybe he’s just shite? I think he’s a good player in a system that isn’t suiting him
Yep, this is the way I see it too. I also think if we don't get Saul we won't sign a midfielder at all, which seems unthinkable. A loan should be a much simpler deal to do than buying someone outright at this stage in the window.
I have no clue about Camavinga. Is he at this stage better than Saul? Or is it that he has potential to be so.
Saul is not a DM, but miles better than McFred. A loan deal would be ideal as a DM would still be needed. Chelsea will probably just snap him up though.

Yes please. After watching Matic and Fred playing on Sunday any midfielder will do.

I don't think a top-class DM is what we can get this window.....just Saul/Neves/Camavinga to improve our passing/controlling in midfield for two levels.....Matic/Fred/McTominay haved showed in the last 12 months that they are poor in this area.
When did we see Pogba and Matic at the weekend? Fred went off for McTominay leaving us with Matic and McTominay. Lingard then replaced Matic in the 86th minute so we had Pogba and McTominay for about 6-7 mins at the end of the game. I’m not sure what that proves.

He is exactly like Fred but much better on the ball.
Couldn't care less about relying on a holder or getting in a dedicated DMC. Just get a decent CM in that isn't a guy who CANNOT pass, a guy named after a cryptocurrency and a guy whose biggest attribute is he came from the academy.

You are probably right. That lad at Monaco seems promising though and you always have Rice. There are also probably a bunch of potensial ones out there that a proper scouting team would snap up on their radar. The fans always talk about the obvious targets, but teams like Leicester tend to find gold year in and year out that other teams overlook
