Sékou Koné

Looks incredibly talented from the compilation videos. Could be the 2nd midfield signing beside Ugarte slowly integrated into first team.

Hopefully on the bench for Brighton, maybe a 5-10 min cameo if we have a comfortable lead.

I'd be surprised if we see him before the September international break. As the above tweet says, he'll be with the u21s for a few weeks to get up to some sort of match fitness.

And was thinking yesterday even that we had more chance of getting a lad from Timbuktu as the Ugarte thing dragging on, never thought it would actually happen though.

Looks a talent, press resistance, dribble, passing range, tackles. I think smart buy to take Casemiro squad role long term.

He definitely needs to bulk up if he's going to play in central mid in the prem. He'll probably need a full season in the U23s and a championship loan to get used to english football, especially the physicality of it.

We don't really know his level too early to say don't you think?

Excellent. The youth drive has been fantastic lately. Love these types of signings.

Along with Toby we now have our two DMs for the future, PSG can go and get fecked!

Do people genuinely think he will be starting soon or are we just being silly?

Seen some saying to send him on loan. At the very least he needs to stay with the club until January to become acclimated to the club and country. Keep a close eye on him. Ideally if want him around the club for his whole first year to properly assess him and bed him in. Next summer we can make a decision on whether he’s ready for first team integration or should go on loan. I wouldn’t expect to see him in and around the first team, except maybe in the carabao, until next season.

Looks a massive talent. Hope we are patient with him. I love this sort of unexpected, low risk, high reward type of left field signing.

Nice to see an obvious, Vivel transfer recommendation. Let's hope it pays off.

Excellent piece of business. Looks very talented and will be moved on for a good profit in a few years in the worst case scenario. Much better than being quoted silly fees for Longstaff a few seasons ago

I like these kinds of signings. That's why I don't really have an issue with what Chelsea are doing(they are crossing the line, though). Buy bunch of young talent, send them on loans. If some are capable of playing for us, keep them, sell the rest. Real Madrid seem to be going somewhat in that direction, as well(refusing to overpay for established players).

Just cut the middleman clubs before they put a silly price tag on a player(Brighton, Benfica, RB Salzburg/Leipzig, Atalanta, Crystal Palace, etc.). Loan them the talented players you buy first and let them develop that way. That will teach them the lesson maybe not to be particularly greedy.

Awesome. This came out of nowhere. He’ll be the first Malian to play for us. Our scouting and recruitment seems to have massively improved.

There's all sorts of interconnected programs and partnerships etc.... that go on behind the scenes in youth football.

There's probably been some sort of investment/specific focus on Guidars in the last few years from the Malian FA to develop domestic talent, and so funneled the best youth players to them. It may even be in partnership with some European clubs (the Red Bull connection seems to suggest so).

The result is a bigger than usual group all coming through, or at the very least a group with more eyes on them from European scouts, with the Malian national team hopefully benefiting down the line.

Yeah this is what I'm trying to learn about, so if you have any pointers, I'd love to read about them.

I'll see if I can find anything, I only know because I have a couple of friends (one is a coach, the other an analyst) who basically make their living doing contracts for "smaller" FA's.

A lot of the time it won't be with the actual FA they're paid by, they'll work with one of the "big" domestic clubs that the FA are using as a platform for development.

Not everyone can afford to build a St George's Park etc.... so if (as in this case) the Malian FA was serious about developing homegrown talent they may have paid for coaches, scouts and facilities at Guidars and then subsidised young talent to move there.

The result is a batch of young players who are well coached and develop in Mali rather than being snapped up by some Ligue 1 team at age 8 or 9, and then go on to play for France - or even worse, never reach their full potential at all.

He won't play for our first team this year.
If you are good enough, you are old enough.

But it will take time for him to adjust to the physicality of the English game. If he has the skills, I won't be surprised to see him get some minutes in cup games.

I would. I'd be very surprised if he features this season tbh.

Delighted that we are doing deals like this, especially in positions where we struggle to identify established targets in the market

I like that both the young talents we signed this summer appear to be both physically and technically gifted. In the modern game with how teams press having a physically robust team is very crucial (see the spine Arsenal have built or City’s profile in defence and attack).

I don't want to burst the INEOS bubble but we have always made these kind of signings. Perriera, Garnacho, Kambwala, Mejbri are a few that come to mind from the recent years.

On the player, he immediately stands out from those clips. Looks like he can do everything - pass, tackle, intercept, move with the ball, defensive nous. It would be interesting to seem him develop. One thing ETH is not afraid of is to give young players a go if he thinks they can contribute. Exciting signing.

But those mentioned players were bought as 16yr olds and integrated into the youth system whereas this guy is already 18 and I would imagine would go straight into the u21 side and will be training with the first team at some stage this season.

Our scouts do their job well, the higher ups tend to mess it up. The list is long.
Caicedo and Alvarez are the two big missed recently. They both fell through our hands and now have moved clubs for a combined fee of 200m.

Haaland previously too.

Our network is probably the best. But we failed at the administration level many times.
