Sékou Koné

Very well said. We really have to remind ourselves that it is a very different thing to emerge in pressure-ridden environment where the business is much more cut-throat than it is at clubs like Brighton or for example Dortmund. It is great news that we seemingly brought in a player that was on the radar for many clubs but lets not get overboard and see the huge shift just because we want to see it. Wasn't Hannibal having a similar profile when we got him? What about that striker McNeil from City...?
It is definitely a good thing seeing the club being active on that front and I am sure, the decision makers will have a plan how to provide those players a positive environment. Lets hope, it works out.
Hannibal, Emran, Kambwala, Puigmal, oh we’ve had a few

£1m fee apparently

We always hear of these now World Class talents who United could have signed as a teenager but United decided against it. Hopefully now we're actually getting them in and will see the benefits in 4-5 years
Nice to see us get this kind of deal done

You play him in the reserves initially so he can acclimatise to moving country. Caicedo moved to Brighton in Feb and played his first senior game in August and was then swiftly sent on loan.
Whereas Lamine Yamal, earlier Pedri, earlier Fati started playing for Barcelona senior team at 16-17 each. They didn’t keep them in reserves…

To have him and Collyer for the U21 team in the next weeks should help so much the other attacking players.

It's probably a bit easier to make your debut and play regularly as a teenager in La Liga to be honest. As long as you have the technical ability the physical side isn't as important.

Also, Yamal looks like a bit of a freak, and Pedri and Fati have both had injury problems. Perhaps because they both played too much, too young.

Both signed from Norwegian teams.
is this a joke I can't tell
At least one person half-way got it :)
Terrible inside joke.

Lyn Skiing and Football Club (who sold Mikel to United then Chelsea simultaneously) is a Norwegian football club which for reasons of local rivalry I refuse to acknowledge the existence of. The only period the last half century when thus club had any consequence, was when shady wealer dealer Morgan Andersen as sporting director made deals with Nigerian mafia, I mean a talent academy, for the hire of three or four young Nigerian footballers bought and sold under contracts which only partly were acceptable to juridical scrutiny. Andersen was fired, Mikel’s contract with United (forged?) was rescinded, Odion Ighalo ended up years later at United on loan, the two others disappeared, and Lyn some years later where bankrupted and moved down to amateur footbal at the fifth national level. So is it and African club? No, but at the time it’s hard to tell what it was, apart from a fence for a Nigerian talent exploitation system.

They bought Pedri after he played 30 games for Las Palmas?

When I see him move (and just the way he moves - not in terms of quality in what he does) - he reminds me of a young Pogba.

Yes and they grew up in Spain and were already acclimatised to the country and language. Remember this guy is moving country at 18. Let him bed in first before putting the pressure of United first team on his shoulders.

Sort of signings I love seeing the club make. Good young players with a lot of potential.

Hopefully he fulfils his potential and becomes a star here.

just watched him on youtube. It's highlight but.. damnn.. the kid can play. I like that other that very skillful, he looks rapid and brave.

He looks to have good spatial awareness and moves the ball well from tight spaces into areas to attack from. Also got a nice passing range and combative. Got good timing in the tackle too.
I was thinking what kind of midfielders would be the best partners for our future attacking players and we lacked someone with his profile. Nice surprise addition.

Puigmal! Where is he plying his trade these days? I remember he was captain at some point

He is actually doing quite ok - 55 matches 5 goals for Almeria. Did really well as they got promoted to La Liga - but struggled to get a place in the team and was on loan to Elche last season

Amazing story. I did a journeyman save on FM in Norway a while back, I wondered why Lyn was nowhere to be found. I used to plunder them in FIFA 05, they had a seriously talented squad in that game. What team do you support that makes you dislike them so much?

*starts the chant..

You Mali
I Man Yoo
Sekou Kone we love you

(Had to hack the U haha)

Im a finn and in finnish language kone means machine. So he can't be a bad player. I have always liked him.
Well, I’m Norwegian, and in Norwegian, kone means wife, which really can go both ways and is ofte filled with drama, sudden expenditures and a 50% chance of a bad break-up.

Official signing today ,Hopefully in a few years when we look back on this , it will have proved to be a pivotal signing.

Hope so too of course but isn't he being signed as an under 21 player?

We signed a lot of these hyped players in the past and very few make it. I hope Koné does well but this feels like one of those transfers where we take a low financial risk but he is still very far from first team ready.

I see we're still using the same-old chipped desk.

New signing required in the Boxing Day sales!

Good to see us continuing our successful youth recruitment strategy. Probably the one area you would say we have been successful over the last 5+ years

will be interesting to track his development ... would be great if he'd turn out to be a top signing. I know RB Salzburg was keen on signing him, and they usually have a decent eye for these types of talents. Fingers crossed.

I think we will go complete your team in the League Cup this season after being left so short at times last year.

Wouldn't be shocked if him and the striker we signed from Arsenal get some minutes off the bench.

I reckon we will take the Europa League quite seriously so that will probably be if unless he really impresses.
