Ryder Cup: Hazeltine Sept 30th- Oct 2nd: USA vs. Europe&GB

Certainly many US sports fans at the event being cnuts but at least they aren't signing songs celebrating air crashes, crowd stampedes the killed many, or even physically attacking and killing the European fans who have made the trip.

Too much dead wood in this European team.

I´d go with Rory/Pieters, Rose/Wood, Stenson/Willett and Westwood/Sullivan in the afternoon.

How many poor tee shots and long irons have the US seen jammy bounces from today.

Some of their driving and approaches have been shocking but they've threaded bunkers, bounced off trees and gallery's and caught in the rough on the edge of lakes several times!

That said, some of the golf in general has been tremendous.

Not sure if I'm more surprised that we've selected Westwood for this afternoon or that they've picked Mickleson!

Fancy Stenson and Rose to go after the excellent Speith and Reed though. They two boys are class but they've looked tired over the last few holes.

Westwood, feck sake.

Chris Wood is a little unfortunate not to get another go. Sullivan, likewise.

Holy shit the Spaniards just completed the comeback with a chance to tie up the tournament at the final hole! This is sensational stuff!

Just turned it on. Garcia and Cabrero-Bello  Classic

Clarke is getting Faldo´d, if Kaymer and Westwood don´t deliver later today. Wood and CB playing well in the morning.

The ybetter get the clock out on Reed and Spieth in Paris in two years. They take for fecking ever.

Unbelievable from the Spanish boys, massive in the home straight from them. Love it.

That should feel like a defeat for the US' prestige pair. Didn't see that collapse coming.

If not for the fast start by the U.S. on the morning if day 1 then the Europeans would be running away with this.

Going to be interesting to see how the TV ratings in the US come out for this. If the Europeans have another great afternoon the casual watcher will just watch the NFL instead.

Not seen this at golf events in Europe, please elaborate

It's a joke. Really do not like Spieth, I would place money he was the one who refused to give Sergio the 2 footer that he went on to miss as well.
The Michael Oliver of golf.

To be fair my brother and I were discussing the event earlier this week and we both agreed the U.S. team and many fans could do with remembering how much Europe has dominated this event for a long time now.

My default position is the Europe is much better than the U.S. so I will go in with them as the favorites until the U.S. can put together a few winning Cups again.

Hell of a start to the four balls. Birdie central and the European comeback is still on.

Rory and Pieters are an incredible pairing. Rory with a birdie to guarantee the hole is halved, up steps Pieters with the eagle to win it, before the Americans can even attempt their birdies. Two up and flying now.

Today has been sensational. Europe have been superior, but the American's have played some amazing golf too. This is why I love the Ryder Cup.

Phil talking about the success the U.S. has had over his eleven Ryder Cups. :wenger:
I like Phil, but his Ryder Cup record is pretty mediocre tbh. i thought it was good when I read it as the normal W-D-L format at first:lol:

Garcia just can´t play freely with Kaymer. Horrible pick. Could have been anybody, but Kaymer and Fitzpatrick.

 WTF is he on about? His record is nothing special, and Team USA have been appalling in recent years. Before that Europe couldn't win a game let alone an actual trophy.

It's unfortunate that during the years when the USA had by far the best players in the world and many to have ever played the game (Woods, Mickleson, Toms, Love III, Couples, Furyk) they just could never do it regularly in team events and especially the Ryder Cup. It just goes to show that team spirit and determination are far more important than individual brilliance and skill.
