Ryan Sessegnon

He's been linked with a Liverpool in the tabloid press for a few weeks. I'm not ITK, but he's a top talent and it's an area for improvement for Liverpool. I can see it possibly happening.

So based on what the tabloid press are saying you come on here and tell us he's off to Liverpool?!

Cairney is the one everyone should be after, Sessegnon still needs a few years.

Isn't Cairney already like mid-20s now?

I'm sure I remember him coming through at Hull (or was it Blackburn, can't remember what order he played for the two of them) when they were last in the PL, and that was at least 5 years ago I'm sure.

I'd gladly take Robertson instead. He's quality.
He's done well for Hull but don't know is he at the level of player we should be targeting. He strikes me as a proper Liverpool signing. A good player but no world beater. I've really liked what I've seen of Mendy with Monaco although in an ideal world we will stick with Shaw and maybe sign someone as back up.

I've liked Robertson since I first saw him in his first season. I think he could play for any team in the league. I wouldn't be disappointed with Mendy of course, however, Robertson would be a good cheaper option.

Yeah he's 26 but he's clearly ready for the step up. He'd be a great signing for any mid table PL side, somewhere like Leicester.

Ya he's very good on the ball and seems to be able get up plans down the pitch no bother. We've been linked with Tierney from Celtic a bit too. He's looked good the bit I've seen of him but it's hard to judge players in Scotland due to the quality of the league.

This guy might be one for the future. I'd quite like the idea of buying him now whilst he's cheap, loan him back to Fulham for 2 years and then bring him in.

I was being playful with my suggestion. However, I know he's been heavily scouted by LFC.

Why would he or Fulham agree to that?

Are you serious?

Fulham would presumably get the fee they were looking for and still have the player for two years.

The player would also get to continue his development somewhere familiar, rather than be stuck in United's under-23s.

Aye, but the question was why would Fulham or the player agree to it.

As for Chelsea, I think they stockpile young players. If we think this guy is good enough and want to buy him he's maybe not going to be considered for the first team for a couple of years. We have a number of our players on loan now - we usually do.

Yes. If he is going to stay at Fulham they may as well keep him themselves and sell him for a much larger fee in 2 years when he is even more proven. As for the player why close your options by signing with a team who doesn't want you for 2 years. If he is staying with Fulham then he may as well sign his pro deal with them and make a big move of his choice in 2 years when he will be more proven and have a pick of choices and command a larger wage and signing on fee. As a loan player Fulham also lose the will to put up with his deficiencies and weaknesses of being a teenager because they have nothing more to gain. Deals like that rarely happen because they aren't very beneficial to the player or the selling club.

There's also a lot to be said for striking while the irons hit, what if he turns out to be another Noble-Lazarus, remember the hype about him? I bet Barnsley wished they'd cashed in on him for 15m and had him loaned back for two years! Player development is never guaranteed, it's just a matter of if Fulham would gamble on him being worth more than 15m in two years time, could turn to shit like a lot of other hyped up English talent.

Yeah there's a time when a player becomes hot and once acceptable offers start to come in they are usually sold.

When is the optimum time to sell - 16, 18, 21, 23?

Additionally, no youngster signed by Manchester United expects to go straight into the first team.

Fulham would be delighted to receive what they'll inevitably accept this summer, then have the benefit of an improving player for a further couple of years.

It's bizarre to think a deal like that wouldn't be attractive to all parties.

If you buy a player in the winter transfer window loaning him back out to finish the season with the club his currently at makes a lot of sense. Joining a club during preseason is generally easier than joining midseason. But, to buy a player and send him back on loan for two seasons at the same club would be a waste of everyone's time.

How is it any different to any other player we send on loan? All of whom are currently older than this guy?

What would you propose to do with this player until he's first-team ready? However long that takes.

I wouldn't be surprised if this kid is Spurs first signing of the summer.
Thought Davies/Rose were doing well so far? Maybe sign and send back on loan.

It fits with your transfer strategy of buying young English talents and giving them their big chance. You pretty well stocked at left back though

We are but I think we might push him forward - or at least play him as more of a wing back/wide forward rather than a full-back. He has only just turned 17 so by the time he is ready for the first team I'd imagine Davies would have moved on.

I have only watched him play a few times but going anywhere to be a back up would be a step backwards for him already imo. He should choose a lower profile premier league club, a club that will guarantee him starts at LB. He can move on to a bigger team when he is further along his development

Well we might loan him back for 6 months and then bring him in during January window and then stick him into the squad. OR we could sign him, bring him into pre-season training and see what he's like - a bit like we did for Alli and then if he looks ready he will get opportunities in the team.

I'm talking like we have already signed him - this is a big IF of course.

He'll end up at Spurs and we'll be all wondering why on earth we didn't go in for him.

See Dele Alli.

If it happens, Sessegnon would be a great start to our summer business and a continuation of one of our main transfer policies for the last few seasons.

Loan him back to Fulham for 6 months or a year, then see what wonders Poch can work with him.

I don't see why he needs to be loaned back, Davies is a decent left back but nothing more and if Sessegnon impresses from the bench he could pick up his minutes in the cup competitions.

Depends on how well he does in training, but Davies has shown with Wales that he is very adept at playing CB in a back 3 so could be moved there if need be and make the rotation between Rose and Davies.

Also Rose is having knee surgery, though I think it's just a kneescope so recovery time is quite short. That said if Rose's injury persists or he struggles for fitness Sessegnon could jump on those minutes.

"He's off to Spurs" ... according to The Liverpool Echo.

Sessegnon has played a number of games this season as an LM, so he'd be an option there as well for whoever signed him.
