Ryan Giggs | United confirm he's left

Seriously mate. If I was Giggs, I would leave especially (but not exclusive) if Mou doesn't want me. Think about it. If he succeeds in football he will return as manager as his own man. No need to rely on SAF holding his hands and struggling to earn respect. He would, by then, made his rookie mistakes elsewhere when there's little media attention and learnt from them. If he fails, well, the director role is his for the taking. SAF and Charlton are all at the wrong end of his 70s and there's no better candidate then him (the player who played with United the most, the player who won with United the most etc). Irrespective of what he does all roads leads to OT.

On the other hand if he took the job now and he failed terribly then he would be sacked, something very few people recover from. Even Moyes is struggling after that and he's got far more managerial experience than Giggs

Yeah absolutely, I just liked the phrase. I fully think Giggs needs to go and prove himself.

Wish he'd just hurry up and decide. What the hell is taking him so long?

What if Mourinho's ambition is to settle down and stay at the club until he retires? I mean, where else can he go after United? Bayern? Portugal?

It would be absolute toxic for Giggs to be hovering around looking to take his job.

He needs to go down a division to manage and get off his high horse.

He has become an absolute pain in the arse, wish he'd just piss off.

Personally, I think Giggsy needs to leave the club for his own sake. He should never have been "groomed" for the manager position at the same club. Most every manager that has enjoyed any form of success (obviously there are exceptions to this rule) has gone away and managed a smaller team or at least had some time as a coach for the U21:s or something like it. The talk is that Giggs has the gift of becoming a great manager some day, I just don't want him to find his footing at United. We can't afford that anymore. He should go out, manage some other team(s) and then come back.

If I were to play amateur shrink, I might suspect Giggs has a bit of the Peter Pans. He can't move on from the scene of his childhood happiness. And he seems to have trouble behaving like an adult in his personal life too. His relationship with SAF is that of a devoted dad who wanted his favorite son to run the company.

Its all a bit retarded when you think about it. Losing his hair might be the best thing that ever happened to him. That and being sent on his way by Jose. Will make him grow beyond his safety zone.

Just an opinion. I have no evidence to support any of this.

If it's true that he was promised the manager position after LvG, then that was a huge mistake on our part.

When Jose said in his interview "giant clubs must be for the best managers" it made me think of the supposed promise that was made to Giggs and how ludicrous that was.

What difference does it make for him to take time to make his decision?

He was part of the last 3 years which we saw the worst of our team. He has to go.

Are we sure he will try management somewhere else, or was this the only job he wanted? He might be another one who goes into punditry.

He isn't a very good speaker.
He'd be terrible in a role which required him to talk.

I think is better for him to go and try make it with a smaller team first. Both Giggs and United would benefit if he comes back in the future with some experience. If he is good he should prove it first. I have no doubt we will take him back if he does.

Ryan Giggs is yet to be offered a new role with Manchester United, Sky sources understand.

Giggs spent the last two years as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal, but his future at Old Trafford remains in the balance as the club prepares to begin life under new boss Jose Mourinho.

Sky sources understand reports that Giggs has been offered a role as a bridge between the first team and the U21s are inaccurate.

The United great, who made more than 1,000 appearances for the club, is due to return from a holiday in Dubai this weekend.

It is understood Giggs has heard nothing from senior United figures as to what they want him to do, following Van Gaal's sacking last month, with no meetings scheduled.

Giggs, who joined Manchester United on his 14th birthday, is thought to have a year left on his contract.

I very much doubt Giggs will be back here. I should be bothered about that but really I'm not. Nothing at all against the guy personally, it's just one of those things.

I hope this doesn't drag on with will he stay or will he go. At the end of the day Jose is the manager and if he only wants to offer him a lower position than assistant manager when they talk, the club should agree with the manager. If Giggs thinks its below him he can bugger off and gain the correct experience required if he one day has aspirations of managing the club. With the Euros taking a large chunk of the summer I think the club really needs to be concentrating on purchasing players to get us competing again first and foremost.

Would like to keep him at the club as it sad to see those who've been at the club for so long go. It's the end of an era if he leaves, but if he has any ambitition to manage it's obvious that he needs to get out of his 30 year old comfort zone, and challenge himself at a club. Hopefully he'll go to a club that expects to dominate in the league so he doesnt end up falling into the same trap as OGS did.

Would love to see him manage my local Norwegian team (Strømsgodset) after Ole whisper a few words in his ear

Anyone who truly loves Giggs will be happy to see him go. Its the best decision he can take IF he wants to become manager

I understand that whoever posted that may believe that it's the right decision, but it's not like it says from Jim@Redcafe or whatever. It can be taken (incorrectly) as a forum wide view. I think Redcafe twitter feed should be mindful of that... not saying take it down or anything, just making a point.

I realise that some of us can see the distinction but let's be honest, this is the internet. Loads will look and just think, "that's what them on Redcafe think".

Which is actually true. It is the general consensus among Caftards.

This. Can't see any issue with the Caf feed reflecting the general opinion of the Caf.

Yea fair point, but unless there's a poll you just don't know. With this I think it's clear that everyone (bar a handful of us) here wants him gone, but for future reference it may not always be so clear cut.

So someone could go to Giggs and say that pretty much everyone on Redcafe wants him gone, and that would be true. But twitter posts like the above make it sound like Redcafe is either one person or a spokesperson for a group, but not a group. If I was posting to the Redcafe feed I would have worded it differently that's all I'm saying. I don't even think I'm saying anything controversial...

The whole Redcafe bent towards Giggs is a shame really, I can't relate to it. Some of the circular arguments are tiresome so I don't engage anymore. Some have been arguing for so long that their opposing views have been strengthened, they've become entrenched and they now come across as either somebody that hates the sight of him or someone who thinks the sun shines out of his anus, both probably wide of the mark.
