I am not a customer either . I do not understand the changing clubs thing , it doesn't work like that in my world . There is only United for me .

RVP and Rafael are out of the club because they are as crocked as you can get.

Whether you agree or not it's actually quite an interesting point and certainly didn't warrant that condescending green smiley you felt necessary to use.

You are right. I don't understand anything you are saying.

Feck sake you don't get a thing of what I'am talking about

Every fan has his reasons for supporting a club and thus every fan has a relationship to the club that makes you a customer to that clubs branding wheter you care to admit it or not because if you weren't you wouldn't go watch every single match. I never said those reasons have to be winning trophies, I just said if you want to attract alot of people and thousands is not alot, millions is alot than you must be succesfull else you'll never attract alot.

If you think being a fan of a footballclub is a relationship so distinctly different as being a fan something else (doesn't even matter what) than you are the one lacking understanding. As a fan you are always buying into something, wheter it is the mouth to mouth story telling of your great grand daddy that supported the club since its founding or it being a stupid commercial that drew your attention. Obviously the reasons will be different and obviously the degree of fanatisime will be different but the concept is just the same. Wheter you are a fanatic for iphones or a football club it isn't distinctly different as a concept.

Wtf?

That's because our manager preferred hard working mediocrity to Nani's talent. Valencia and Young have gotten game after game even when absolutely rubbish (which is most of the time)
Are you talking about SAF, Moyes or LvG? It's very difficult to believe that 3 experienced mangers, SAF in the pantheon of all time managers, Moyes who'll get killed on here but still should be respected, and LvG who is an elite manager in the modern era, all managed to miss "that" talent. Perhaps only Mourinho, Guardiola, or Bielsa could've recognized it. It could've even taken Jock Stein or Paisley to unleash the wonder that was Nani. What bollocks. The myth surrounding Nani is unbearable. I'm so glad he's off.

We must have paid the best part of £50 million for his one good season. We won the league but I wouldn't say he's been a big success here. Probably too old when he came to ever be worth the money.

He was unfortunate to have a second season under Moyes, he didnt get a forward pass from a midfielder that whole season I believe

During the 2011-2012 season Wayne Rooney scored a staggering 38 goals in 49 matches (club and country) including 2 goals against Liverpool and 3 goals against Chelsea and Arsenal. Hernandez scored a respectable 13 goals and we also had Danny Welbeck. That's quite a great record considering the tripe we had in midfield. Imagine how many more goals we would have scored if we had players like Fabregas or Herrera instead of Ando and Cleverley.

Instead we kept SAF's boys there and added a world class striker and an attacking midfielder with Park's technique but not his workrate and attitude. We did win the league mostly thanks to RVP being on fire and SAF genius but it did cost us a lot afterwards as Rooney was moved in midfield and flanks to accomodate two world class strikers we didn't need nor afford.

It really doesn't matter how many he got 4 years back. Tell me how many he scored last season when he started as a striker? And he was playing with Herrera behind him last season. The most praise I heard of his performance was when Gary Neville talked out of his ass and called him a "silent dominator" in the City game.

I like Rooney, and think he is still an important player for us. His work rate, his desire, his passion, his vision, his ability to score blinders etc. are attributes I like about Rooney and what makes him a special player. But his first touch and hold-up play is not nearly good enough to play as a #9 for a team with title ambitions. He is not very uselful with his back towards the goal or adept at bringing others into play. Neither does he have the pace or the skills to bamboozle defenders like an Aguero can. Rooney is an intelligent player, who is best somewhere in the attacking midfield.

I know we are meant to be respectful towards other posters but your constant need to blame SAF and asinine jibes like "attacking midfielders with Park's technique", "next John O'Shea" and other similar shit, can seriously do one. They are fecking irritating.

We knew what we were getting when we signed, a top player for 2-3 seasons maximum. Unfortunately, we had to waste the second of those seasons on David Moyes.

done deal, apparently:

FENERBAHCE: RVP DEAL DONE

Turkish club Fenerbahce have revealed Robin van Persie’s transfer from Manchester United is all-but complete and the Dutchman will arrive in Istanbul this weekend to finalise the move.

Club chairman Aziz Yildirim confirmed negotiations between the concerned parties had been completed late on Friday and that Van Persie was expected to arrive in Turkey by private jet on Sunday.

"We worked very hard, until midnight. We received five faxes, sent six faxes and finally it was finished," Yildirim told Turkish sports daily andHurriyet.

"The Van Persie transfer is done and one more star has joined the Fenerbahce constellation.”

Sad to see him go after wathcing that video and the goals he banged in for us :( So many memories

Worth every penny. His goals meant United had wrapped up no 20 by March that year, which is United last title win. Even with notable contributions from De Gea, Carrick and Raphael, Van Persie was the difference, psychologically and on the pitch. Unfortunately his last 2 seasons he been a crock, and with his age and the wages he's on, it's good time to get rid, because I'm not sure he is going to be fit enough through out the season to be even reliable cover for Rooney.

Yeah, me too. :( Such a shame that he never recovered since Fergie stepped down.

Good luck in whatever comes next, Robin.

Medical.

First I thought it was weird to go to Turkey, with all his talk about the love for the game and enjoying playing on a top-level with other brilliant players. He's made a shiteload of money already playing for two massive clubs in England for over 10 years, why so greedy? And why not simply go to Qatar when he's 35 and truly finished if he's worried about money, leaving room to now join a better club than Fenerbahce.

But then I found some quotes from 2012 when Dirk Kuijt signed for Fener. Kuijt said he talked about the club with RVP, they were team mates at Feyenoord, Holland and sometimes spent their holidays together. Apparently RVP told him he was quite impressed with the club after playing against them with Arsenal, he liked the vibe and could see himself maybe play there one day in the future, maybe as an adventure or something.

I don't think it's pretty, but I guess if he genuinly likes the idea of playing for Fenerbahce, well then he should do it. Personally I haven't got much time for the Turkish league, tried watching Sneijder a couple of times over the years, the atmosphere can be nice at times, but the level of play is very low. It's basically a dead-end street. But all things considered it's fair enough. Can't be dissapointed on the day we sign Bastian fecking Schweinsteiger.

My favorite United player. It was amazing to see Van Persie live and he has been brilliant for United. If only Fergie had continued, he would have had a couple of more amazing seasons. Best wishes for him. Sad to see him leave. Would have been great if he stayed with the new improved service he would have got at United.

We always knew he'd only really be good for a few seasons. What's good to see in terms of the club's long term future is that we don't have a problem getting rid when the time is right.

I've heard a few people saying 'he still had something to give', but that's not really how it works when you only play with a single striker. Either he's on the pitch, and needs to be good enough to do all the running, creating and scoring that we'd expect from Manchester United's striker, or someone else needs to be on the pitch instead. You can't be a super-sub when you don't have the legs any more.

Some great memories for us all to relish, anyway.

OK, slightly different angle in my thinking and will prob get shot down, but I'm glad he is going. He hasn't been the same player since we won the league. I believe that's because he isn't putting in the effort now he has the winners medal. He seemed to liven up a bit at the world cup...

I don't think he had a choice. He started last to last season very sharp against Swansea in the community shield but it all went downhill from there. He got injured and then never got supported by the midfielders.

I think he was psychologically affected by the SAF retirement. He was planning for multiple trophies in his last few years but that dream was shattered suddenly.

He was definitely trying his best but somehow could not get back to his old form and it is difficult at this age to get back to that level. It is a ruthless decision to move him on but the correct decision.

Thanks for the league title RVP, you were signed for it and man did you deliver.

We will always remember the Soton comeback and that volley off Rooney's long ball!

All I remember is, basically, all his interviews over the first year, turning down City for us, winning us the title, saying he wanted to stay here and replicate Giggs longlivity at United, and.. 2 seasons later it's all ended like this, quietly shoved out the back door so unceremoniously.
Feel sad how it's ended, even if he was being paid a mini-fortune, wish him and his family the best.

I agree with the kid I don't want to see him go. I would love to see what he could do if he had an injury free season at OT.

If he goes I wish him all the best. I don't think he ever got over SAF leaving which is a massive shame.

He is a player with massive talent.

I'm very disappointed to see him go. I was looking at some Schweinsteiger youtube compilations and there were a lot of great balls over the defense, first thing I thought was that those will be perfect for RvP, then I remembered that he is being sold. :(

Is Fene going to be in UCL? Like confirmed to be going in the group stages already? If they are and United does too, it would be interesting to see whether the two will be drawn together in the same group, with maybe Bayern. :p

I think Fene has made some big signings themselves this season already. Kjaer, Nani, RvP. Who else?

Sad to see him go. If not for Rooney, I think he would still be there, but like in the past, it is always the Dutch master that has to be sacrifised for the younger one. Probably would come a time that it would be Rooney's turn next.

If I were him I would be reading this feeling a bit used ' hes served his prupose' that one extra title win to wrest it back from City!

On one hand you could feel a bit sorry for him in the way his career went for such a talented player but then really in truly do many footballers care with the lifestyle they have?

There were rumours of him joining Lazio before even training started. I cant see how van Gaal humiliated him in June like described in the article. Maybe van Gaal was pissed with his attitude and therefore let him train on his own. I dont think he did that on purpose without RvP doing something wrong.

His head is gone, he had one good game for us last season which is amazing when you thought he would have kicked in again with LVG as the manager, he played a great game away to Southampton, it was a complete centre forwards performance and the type of effort he put in in his first season here was on display, the rest of his performances were just limp, lacked motivation and confidence, it is no doubt time for him to move on, it would have been different if SAF was still in charge but things change in football very quickly, I think someone else on here pointed out and it is worth noting, why is he not signing for a bigger club than fenerbahce, nobody else seems to be in for him.
