Its the right decision for RVP and for the club. We dont want to continue to pay huge wages to a declining player, and probably are looking to bring in a fresh striker this summer.

For RVP, he wants to play regularly and he still has the ability to do so at most clubs. Deal makes sense for everyone - I wish RVP all the best, he has been a model professional and his debut season alone justified his purchase.

Good luck RVP and thanks for our last title. Couldn't have done it without you!

Good transfer for us. Happy to get rid of his wages, and if he wasn't keen on signing on a cheaper fee there was no way to justify keeping him here. Still has a lot left to give, just not to the level of the most expensive player for one of the greatest clubs in the world. He's been getting a lot of stick for last year but he also isn't getting the service when he gets in a position to make one of his arched runs.

We've instead looked for the easy option and Blind in particular hasn't had the range of passing to seek those long balls even when the opportunity was there.

It is very possible that those are instructions from LVG as not only Blind has been culpable of playing a safe side ways pass instead of a penetrating one to RVP.

I'm happy we're selling him since it means we're guaranteed to buy a new striker. Question is who? Lacazette, Kane, Müller, Griezmann, Benzema, Icardi. Can't see us signing anyone other than one of them.

Or maybe LVG is happy with Rooney, Chicharito and Wilson but I doubt that.

Anyone know what the actual fee is? Now being reported at 4.7m

Bit of a drop from the initial 10-12m

Fixed that for you.

Sad to see him go since he was absolutely superb in his first season, but he did look like he was getting on a bit last year and probably didn't have too much to offer us in the future. He'll always go down fondly for that 1st season though.

Behrami? Valon Behrami the tireless defensive midfielder? I'm pretty sure Zdenek Ondrasek who plays for my local team Tromsø IL would do a better job up front.

And Benteke isn't a top striker. We'll never sign Benteke.

Spot on. Came in, helped win our last title, scored some wonder-goals, got his fair amount of fortune and is now leaving to enjoy his swan song in a less demanding environment.

Meant Berahino. You are in for a surprise if you think we are about to sign anyone on your list. They aren't going to play second fiddle to Rooney in our one striker system.

Maybe you're right but I think we'll struggle if we're going to rely on Rooney being our main goal scoring threat. I'd prefer that we buy a top striker who play the majority of games up front while Rooney plays as an attacking midfielder to be honest.

Rooney as an attacking midfielder is dogshite and would just rob a place from better players in that position in our squad and create further complications. Ideal scenario is Rooney on the bench and get one of your list in. Not going to happen. Yet.

Yeah that's not going to happen, Rooney is still valuable for the team, especially because of his great leadership. We need him in the dressing room.

And I don't think he's shite as an attacking midfielder. He used to play behind a striker under Fergie, although slightly furher up than the attacking midfielder position Fellaini has been playing lately. Still, his adaptability is great and I think Van Gaal can train him into mastering the attacking midfielder position. I don't think Rooney has a future as a striker for us in the long run.

He needs to be a lot more consistent in his passing, which probably is a concentration issue and can be trained to address. The move *Rooney -> Valencia -> poor cross, best case scenario a corner* needs to stop as well, and it can be trained quite easily.

Basically the deal is done then. Good luck to him and thanks for number 20!

Buying him got Fergie his last title, and revenge against City. Thanks for all that Robin.

Good luck.
On a positive note, there will be a lot less snot on the pitch now.

Worth it for that one outstanding season, he'll be fondly remembered. But this feels like the best thing for both parties.

Pretty much won us a PL title when he came, will always have a lot of fond memories of RVP.

Thanks for the wonderful memories! He will always be remembered for that season when we lifted our 20th league title. His hattrick against Villa to win the title is one of the best moments I've experienced in football. Good luck to him!

Right decision to sell him. He deserves to be more than a bit-part player.

I'm assuming we've got someone lined up to come in, then?

More power to Fener. My boss is a Galatasaray fan, so Nani and RvP can help me piss the fecker off.

Great first season for the club, and RVP helped cement our place for a few years has England's most successful league winners. Its turning out to be a good summer wages wise for the club, getting a few of the deadwood off the list. Nani gone, Falcao gone, Rafeal looks to be leaving with the new arrival, RVP also moving on, that is a huge gap in wages turn over if evans nani RVP Rafeal and Falcao all gone. It really balances the books, and gives us the room to add players who can replace these players, with actual quality who will play every week

Nani replaced by depay
rafeal replaced by darmian
we can dream of evans replaced by ramos
falcao and RVP not really replaced by anyone, but it brings the wage bill down

As much as i'm disappointed to see him leave. Seeing as no other big clubs in Europe took him off our hands for £4.7m, i think it speaks volumes that we can't/shouldn't rely on someone who none of our competitors want any more.

Realise he's still a v good player on his day, but he needs to play consistently and he won't get that here. Better for all that he moves on, we free up the wage bill and he gets to rediscover his form again by playing regular footy.

Wouldn't have won no.20 without him. Best of luck Robin!

Wasn't he on 250k? I'd imagine United are paying him some of that or has he taken a huge wage cut?

These cnuts best not play against us in the CL.

Why on earth would we continuing paying his wages? It's not a loan like Nani to Sporting, if you're using that as a benchmark.

For me it was the goal in the FA cup away to west ham. Took down a beautifull pass from Giggs and slotted home with his right foot. Away fans went mental! So did Fergie IIRC

Still in a bit of shock after all Sky's announcements but isn't the shock therapy what LVG already started one season ago when over 10 players left within first moments of his work ?

I can only imagine the pressure on remaining players emerging while their numbers slowly decrease and new reinforcements are on the way. Hopefully this will motivate the feckers for the new season but in a serious tone, the great mentor of younger players is leaving and it won't be easy to replace him just like that.

Feels surreal. Think it's best for both parties though. We need to move to the one striker system and stop playing Rooney in midfield. Rvp is on massive wages and been on the decline. Time to inject new blood into the system. And have a young striker that will work with being Rooney's backup but still on the verge of greatness and not on rediculous wages. As much as I would love to keep rvp this ruthlessness is what we need to bring us forward. The squad is getting more and more balanced with each passing week.

Thanks for everything Robin #20

Disappointed in this, RVP is better than playing for fecking Fenerbahce. He could easily do a job for Juventus or even a team like PSG

The free kick versus City, for me. That season was incredible for him, and us, although he should have scored far more than he did.

Will never be forgotten.
