Note

Criticism of the manager and players is fine and has always been allowed on the forums, but please keep the personal insults out of it. They feed into the negativity and cause personal insult matches between posters. Any personal insults in posts will be clamped down on with either deletions or warnings.

Additionally, a trend has begun where people are targeting and antagonising other posters by tagging them and leaving snarky comments. This is not okay either and leads to people being bullied or feeling that way. These posts will also be clamped down with deletions or warnings. There is a time and a place for a bit of fun, but we do not tolerate when it crosses the line and becomes nasty.

These are general forum rules, but given how discussions on United and its staff and players have been going recently, we wanted to emphasize them here.

Interim only please, he has zero credentials to be considered for the permanent role, if the club wants to keep him as a supporting staff for the new head coach sure, but nothing more than that, even if the team beats everyone in the league.

How long will these players pretend to play for Ruud before deciding to chuck him under the bus?

He should be a vibes boost but under no circumstance should he be given the full gig.

I will cry if it comes out we're planning on leaving a new appointment until the end of the season.

I don't mind if we leave a permanent appointment until the summer.

However. I sure as hell hope we get someone more proven than Ruud in the meantime.

We’ve already sounded someone out, I’m pretty certain of that. Ruud won’t be interim for long.

Don't love this decision.

Already feel like Solskjaer's golden legacy has been somewhat tainted by being an underqualified candidate thrown into the Glazer-era United mincer.

Would prefer it if we didn't do the same to all our club legends. Dreading the day I find out Ratcliffe has given Eric some role as face of the official face of the club in some capacity.

This is going to end badly. A few very good games and he will get the job. It will be Ole all over again

We have hired 5 interim managers and one of them ended up with the permentant job.

I don't know why people talk as though it's a common occurrence. They also said in their statement that he is interim while they look for a permentant.

I’m pretty certain this is just for Leicester.

Someone has definitely been sounded out.

That one time is one too many, hiring the wrong manager sets us back so we should be careful but I am also confident they won't consider him too.

Good luck to him. Just hope we don’t rush in straight away with the contract offer like we did with Ole.

Let's hope this is for an absolute bare minimum amount of time.

Not a comment on Ruud or his coaching abilities but we need a clear break from whatever monstrosity EtH was trying to create

People have PTSD from Woodward and the Glazer years. INEOS are not vibes FC and Ruud will not be given the job on a permanent basis. We will recruit someone with experience.

What worries me about this is we’re still going to struggle to score goals. RVN was still here under ETH. There not suddenly going to get their shooting boots on. We need a manager to come in with fresh ideas and ideas how to create better scoring opportunities

I will be surprised if he's in charge past the international break. It feels more like a Carrick interim spell than an Ole one. Over the moon for Ruud though.

I hope I end up feeling for him what I ended up feeling for Ole. Good luck Ruud, you're gonna need a lot of it even if it's on interim basis.

Obviously not a proper solution long term, but it's going to be pretty sweet to watch Ruud on the sidelines

I just meant the length of time.
An okay. I think it will be a “till we find the right man” interim whether that’s for 3 months or till the summer. Just hope we don’t get into our ponderous wait and see mode. You have to act fast whether for managers or players - usually a club would already have the next manager in place as we’ve needed one for pretty much a year.

Gonna be interesting to see how this interim turns out. He has already been a part of this staff for some months so how much of a fresh breath can it be.

Hopefully people can adjust expectations to it being an interim manager here to keep the ship sailing just until a new manager is in place.

Unless the announcement is we've agreed terms with Nagelsmann or Amorim to take charge in the summer, I would agree.
