It's not only Russian project. 50% of it is covered by Gazprom and the rest is all on European investors. Halting 20 billion eur project means immediately affecting the rest of investors in Europe. No one needs economic war in these times which is why Putin seems strong in his position. How would it be minimal? They still need European countries to actually buy their gas. You don't just magic up a market as big as Europe's in a short period of time.
I really don't get why Putin found it necessary to humiliate the head of a Russian intelligence agency. You'd think he doesn't wanna create resentment among the powerful people surrounding him.

We need Roman to be sanctioned and Chelsea relegated.
This is huge if it is definitive. It is gradually gonna destroy Russian's economy.
Peskov did what Peskov does best — he had given 20 different answers to the 8 times that he was asked the same question.
Russia recognized DNR & LNR in the borders that they themselves pronounced // CNN: at which point? //
At the moment it has zero effect really. It has already been on hold couple of times because and Brussels generally doesn't support the pipeline from the off, as it gives huge political power to both Germany and Russia in Europe. Ukraine will never support it as well as the current pipelines are going through the country and if they are overlapped it will mean billions in losses.I don´t know about that to be honest.Isn't russia's economy more dependent on oil than gas ?
In the case of NS2, the effects are probably of a more long-term nature, whereby the gas for Germany comes via the already existing pipeline.

Or have it on camera that all these folks agree with Putin so that they can't back down later?Trying to assert his power and be seen to do so?
Guy's a power freak.

I'm not dying in a global nuclear winter because Liz Truss wants to be Maggie 2.0
https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...tion-report-2022-02-22/?utm_source=reddit.comMOSCOW, Feb 22 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Russia respected the sovereignty of other ex-Soviet republics and that Moscow had made an exception with Ukraine because he said it was under foreign control, the TASS news agency reported.
Ukraine rejects what it says is a stream of propaganda out of Russia, which has built up forces near the border of its former Soviet neighbour and on Monday recognised two chunks of its territory as independent republics.
Oh he's loving this moment, no doubt.BJ acting like a responsible leader for the first time in his life. Putin must fail this time, that's the message.
Feels that way doesn't it. Out of the frying pan into the fecking fire.Well covid didn’t do us in so I guess nuclear war is next!
If they roll into Kiev, there will be strong push for it to happen.
"Right now".It's got absolutely nothing to do with the will for strong punishment so that's irrelevant.
It's simply a poor choice of weapon and it'll also heavily impact the US and Germany. The WH have already basically said it's not an idea being entertained right now. This isn't like cutting of Iran.
Yup.This has come at the perfect time for Boris, if the police fine him (which should lead to his resigning) he will just say 'we don't need instability in a time of global crisis'.
What happens to the world cup playoffs, if Ukraine has fallen by then.CL final should definitely be moved. It can't be held in a country at war.
I wonder if sanctions can extend to sportspeople and teams as well. Though Russia has already excluded itself anyway with their Olympic doping regime.

Maybe Venezuela tooI am so surprised. I guess Lukashenko is next. Then maybe a couple of countries in central Asia. And that's it.

There was a chemical attack on U.K. soil killing a British citizen and putting a police officer in a coma - and we still went to the World Cup in Russia.Under "peace" as accorded by that useless paper agreement. It's a different story now though.
