Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

You can use whatever you want to be fair. We saw that best in the US case where they made hokus-pokus excuses for the war in Iraq.

This is true but I am unaware that Russia has had a history of recognizing puppet states before Kosovo happened.

Once again, there are a lot of videos of Putin discussing Kosovo and he mentioned them as recently as three days ago.

I really dont see what precedent he could point towards when doing what he is doing if Kosovo did not happen. Which, again, is not saying that it should not have.

This is a lesson for those countries who accepted to dismantle their nuclear weapons in exchange of military protection that will never happen. The Nuclear Treaty is over after this war, Ukraine was one of the countries who accepted to dismantle their nuclear power and look at them now.

I don't know if this is allowed to post (unverified combat footage). If not, feel free to delete.

My point is, we are all hypocrites. NATO are wormongers seeking war for profit all around the globe, we all tolerate that and keep our mouth shut most of the time. The time Russia does it, all is up in flames.

NATO is a defensive alliance, it hasn't started any wars. US-led coalitions have started wars.

PS: Don't confuse involvement in an on-going war with starting one. NATO didn't instigate or start the wars in Bosnia, Kosovo or Libya.

I do hate these EU Politicians coming out saying

“we stand by Ukrainians”

Or Urging Putin to withdraw his Troops

You aren’t going too stand by Ukraine, as they are about to get battered militarily, all you’ll do is stand by and watch, that’s really standing with them isn’t it, typical empty Politician words though I guess and I shouldn’t expect anything else

and Putin isn’t going to listen to your withdrawal messages, he won’t suddenly decide…..”oh crap, sorry guys, I’ll withdraw”

he really does confuse NATO with US+UK

Wasn't the news I was expecting to wake up to. My Ukrainian colleague in Kiev is staying strong and wants to keep working but I've told her to just stay safe and dw about any work.

There were other means to stop that cnut. West didnt always view him in the same way how they did before NATO bombing, one day good guy, tomorrow bad, he must have change lul.

He and his familiy always were pricks, just one day he was good fit in the eyes of the west and not so much in the other, so spare me with whole im/moral good/wrong bullshit.

Its not you who were 15 year old back then and had to carry your grandma on your back towards hills when NATO was bombing my town for the first time, i was living in basement with my family for 2 months, no bed, just matresses on the ground with blankets, getting light from car battery because we didnt have always power.
After your post i decided to stop posting anything on this thread. I realised how stupid and even immoral is to talk about some conflict which is 1000km from you and about which you know only from media.
Yesterday someone from America tried to teach me how our war went. My first reaction on that post was; "Wtf, were you here? No, but i was so shut the feck up".

I know and it is kind of inevitable, because post Kosovo independence a lot of KLA leaders rose to prominent ranks in the government and are also seen by the people as noble freedom fighters. Finding willing witnesses will be hard.
The nice thing is that all parties who were affiliated with KLA are in opposition right now. Which interestingly, is bringing corruption massively done.

My entire point is that Putin doesn't need any precedent to start a war. Having one, would be nice (despite the situation not being very comparable), but he would have done it either way. Same as having had Ukrainians shooting one of his aircrafts when they were scouting Ukraine for anti-aircraft missiles would have given him an excuse for the war, but considering that did not happen, he still went to war.

Dictators never run out of excuses and precedents to start wars.

Damn, if one could be a fly on the wall on all rooms where top US military officials are analyzing this.

I did have a chortle at the Sky News footage of Medyka. That border crossing actually looks relatively quiet. I have been there and crossed a good dozen times. Clearly the editor has no familiarity with the region.

They're going full blitzkrieg. The cnuts.

Of course they're blitzing it, why wouldn't they? There's a) no need for dragging the conflict out long because the ukranian military won't prevail and b) not enough ressources for russia to sustain anything meaningful over a longer period of time. And since the regions are already destabilized, it's not too difficult to get control of them either. My guess is the military part of the planned annexion will be over in a matter of days.

That's one of the most laughable things I've read all day. NATO a defensive alliance, I see you took your daily CNN/BBC pill already. When it suits you it's NATO, when it does not it's US led coalition, in which participated 95% of NATO members.

And what do you mean instigate or start war? CIA and secret services of western countries are around the world all the time meddling in other countries affairs and you say no we did not start that one? It's laughable.

Mad quick reactions on the flares, i guess thats automated.

Incredable footage and this is just the beginning of it.

This feels like the first war that can actually be seen step by step through Twitter thanks to widespread availability and adoption of smartphones, wi-fi and mobile networks. Never saw anything else like this before in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.
