Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

In the 1990s we are cheering when the hellfire hits the iraq tank. Dessert storm wss broadcasted live on cnn

Nowadays people don't have the appetite for that kind of things.

More than fair imo. US killed how many people in Iraq? How many died as cause of their invasion? Is that fair? or is all in the past? Is it fair what Russia does now? It is not of course, but who are we to judge?

All of us who didn't do any of that shit? Some people have the impression that we are all americans.

Its not you who were 15 year old back then and had to carry your grandma on your back towards hills when NATO was bombing my town for the first time, i was living in basement with my family for 2 months, no bed, just matresses on the ground with blankets, getting light from car battery because we didnt have always power.

Yeah, yeah, no doubt. But this is right near Kiev.

Some of the footage doesn't really stack up to official accounts at the moment. I know Ukraine might be spinning positively but if they're that far in it would surely be a very bloody battle at this point. Unless they've fully retreated.

NATO isn't just the US+UK, sorry. Your comparison is utter bullshit and highly offensive and I phrased my question because I wanted you to grasp that yourself.

To be fair tactically it's best not to fight sporadically.

Or even a full retreat is better to minimized casualty.

Probaly the UKR still hoped for some miracles, not the time to hit the fight till the last man button yet.

That's one of the most laughable things I've read all day. NATO a defensive alliance, I see you took your daily CNN/BBC pill already. When it suits you it's NATO, when it does not it's US led coalition, in which participated 95% of NATO members.

It's not a particularly difficult concept my guy. NATO isn't a country. Every country in NATO is independent to do what it wants with its army beyond its obligations to NATO. Most small European countries in NATO have not been involved in any wars in the Middle East beyond sending some soldiers for the peace-keeping part after the invasion was done.

The CSTO is a defensive organisation like NATO. Russia isn't a defensive country only and neither is the US. Sounds like you have a problem with the US and its often willing allies than with NATO. Or that in fact you have very limited understanding of what NATO is and does.

And what do you mean instigate or start war? CIA and secret services of western countries are around the world all the time meddling in other countries affairs and you say no we did not start that one? It's laughable.

Ah yeah NATO is the CIA and also every time a war starts somewhere in the world it's the CIA and the Western countries' agents starting it. I bet the CIA started the mess in former Yugoslavia too. Talk about pills...

This just might be the case.

Maybe it's all arranged.

Wouldn't be unbellievable now would it?

Ukranians retreat to a point, Russians invade to a point.
Leave Kiev alone. Take the northern and eastern towns near the russian border.

I doubt this is doable without everyone and their dogs knows about it.

Such instructions cant be kept hidden from the chain of command ane virtually everybody else

First question to NATO presser: journalist questions whether they need "an anti-Hitler... sorry anti-Putin" coalition.

Where did you see support for what Russia is doing?

This is neither the time nor the place to criticise US-UK aggression and its coming from me who I am quite vocal on that issue

Looks like it's all done and dusted already. Sad. I thought Ukraine would be slightly better prepared.

So basically he's saying we're going to help Ukraine, by increasing our defences in Nato countries. We have trained and given weapons to the Ukrainian army and that's pretty much all we are going to do....oh, and sanctions

I feel for Ukrainians here

Just cause I must have missed, the Kremlin is saying this is a battle against actual Nazis? Thats a thing?

Maybe it's just the media that are in the dark.

If this is a full out invasion that's been going on for hours now, why haven't we seen more?
And, don't forget, the Russians and the Ukranians speak the same language (ok, similar).

It wouldn't suprise me, that's all i'm saying.

What else can Nato feasibly do when Ukraine isn't a part of the organization?

Honestly, there weren't many other choices here. Obviously, the best choice would have been to massively arm Ukraine from 2014 to now. But there wasn't much that could have been done in the last few months.

I can't really see much the west can do other than brutal sanctions and arming the Ukraine resistance.
