Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Despite attempts by the Western media (who all receive their briefings from the agency) to positively spin this, Russia is actually in the driver's seat and is likely to secure a better deal than what was on offer in Istanbul at the start of the conflict. This has been disastrous for Ukraine, and Europe in general. The only clear winner seems to be the U.S., but now it's time to move on and shift our focus to the Middle East and the Far East.

Did you watch the documentary I posted? It’s a warning from history.

Ukraine arrests senior Defense Ministry official accused of embezzling $40 million

A senior Ukrainian Defence Ministry official has been detained over allegations he embezzled 1.5 billion Ukrainian hryvnia ($40 million) relating to an artillery shells contract, according to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).

The SBU says the official signed an agreement with a special export company to purchase a wholesale batch of artillery shells in December last year.

Imagine living in a country that actually dealt with its corrupt politicians. Jealous.

Stealing during a time of national emergency... would never happen in the UK of course :nervous:

Events from October 7th and onward didn’t help Ukraine at all. Just activity on this site alone can tell a story of how interest shifted from one conflict to another. Poor Blinken looks like he hasn’t slept at all in his latest press events.

Hopefully it makes a difference, looks cool at least.

There aren't good choices for Ukraine at the moment but the strategic goal should be to stop the war and start rebuilding the country.
If they stop the war there won't be a country to rebuild.

I sort of doubt social media activity influences support for Ukraine. The republicans were always going to oppose whatever the dems were supporting.

If they continue fighting a losing war, I agree - that's not what I'm suggesting though.

Your a joke. They gave up Crimea. Then they will give up the Donbas and the south this time.. next time Kyiv. Appeasement doesn't work.

Asking Ukraine to sign a peace deal with Russia is on the same level as asking why Gondor didn't accept a peace deal with Sauron.

Keep the change, you filthy animal.

Considering what that ship supposedly transported, I had to say the words.

Come Out To The Coast, We’ll Get Together, Have A Few Laughs... Merry Christmas.

Those landing ships are extremely valuable.

Most wars conclude with peace deals between distrusting factions; there is nothing unique about this conflict.

Zelenskyy/Putin will sign a deal, when they're forced to:

This is March 22

Ukraine couldn’t trust that peace though, they already have a peace treaty with Russia that Putin has p*ssed on.

You’d be stupid to let a single soldier off the line if you’re Ukraine.

Concerning time for Ukraine with overseas funding drying up. Without fresh injections of ovreseas money and weapons soon they are going to struggle badly in 2024. Putin seems to not care at all what it costs him to push forward.

There'll be funding eventually. Just sad that politics is played over it.

Ukraine's stolen children

Ukraine says it has verified the names of more than 19,000 children who have been transferred to Russia or Russian-controlled territory.

Over recent months, 387 children like Sasha have been tracked down by relatives and brought back home, with the help of the charity SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine, among others.

Their accounts have helped officials and investigators build a picture of a Russian effort to remove children from Ukraine — often under the pretext of rescuing them from the war zone — to turn them against their homeland and into loyal Russian subjects. Some described a feeling that the Russian authorities used them to lure their Ukrainian families to the Russian side.

Massive missile barrage all over Ukraine right now, looks like all the major cities have been targeted. One Ukrainian commander said that it's the largest attack of the war so far and that they have't seen this many incoming targets on their monitors before.
