Rugby World Cup 2015 | Reminiscing Thread

I think England will top pool A at Australia's expense and still believe South Africa will find a way to top their pool.
Ì think you are overestimating this SA side..I really do..It almost reminds me of the season when United had Moyes especially in Europe when opposition sides gave us so much respect because they couldnt believe that United could be that bad, when we were..If Scotland go for it,they will win..If they are brave, they will beat SA..Samoa may have a tougher time, but they too can beat SA imo...This team is far too old..and the signs have been there , even before the WC..6 losses in 9 isnt being out of form, its much worse than that.

Could someone please teach me the basic rugby rules in a few sentences? I want to fit in.

Watching a game for about 15 minutes should give you pretty much most of the rules.

Surely the US can borrow JJ Watt and Marshawn Lynch for this.

NFL players are stronger and more dynamic but they'd be knackered really quickly. Way more running around without rest, constantly cleaning out at rucks, doing defensive duties etc. Less use for pure explosive power in rugby.

Tim Nanai-Williams went to my high school, get in son!

Dammit, great try by the Americans, game on.

New Zealand are playing today.. don't miss them play. Rugby's equivalent to modern day Barca.

We are playing at the same time.

Which means no spoilers, I will personally track down the offenders.

:nono:I hate the All Blacks as much as I hate Real Madrid so so calling that mob from New Zealand rugby's equivalent of a moder day Barça doesn't sit well with me I have to say.

Seriously, rugby players have amazing physiques. Just watching some games yesterday and seeing how big the players are motivated me to hit the gym. Those guys have biceps for real.

I'll be watching simultaneously. . One on laptop other on TV.

I can't watch a rugby match like that, I want to see every details. And it's even more important with the Blacks, I want to see all their new tricks and shenanigans, maybe they will use the "no rucks" technique, that the Chiefs tried to use this season.

Footballers physiques aren't very impressive at all. Most of them are just lean.

Yeah but I think that's quite logical though. Rugby requires a different physique. Perhaps C. Ronaldo could be a good rugby player if he really put his head into it?

Rugby is a real sport particularly Union, pure athleticism isn't enough, he could maybe play League Rugby but he isn't physical or tough enough for that.

Samoa 25 - 16 USA

Yeah they obviously won't be the same but I look at some players - Mata, Rooney etc - and it's really shocking how poor their physiques are. The two of them look like they have never lifted a weight in their life.

Ronaldo is one of the few who could maybe adapt to it as he's an excellent athlete.

That's always the worry. Like Six Nations, the winners will probably be the team who don't get key player injuries.

True, but we still have good wingers that haven't been selected, so we should be alright.

Hopefully Amos will have a big game today. Cuthbert is a donkey who needs dropping. Quite a few in this thread have written us off because of the injuries which is fair enough I suppose. I don't think they're that much of an issue to be honest though. Williams and Davies are very talented players and this could be the stage where they step up. It would be nice to see Matthew Morgan get on at some stage too.

6-0 to Uruguay. Probably won't be another upset, but the Welsh must be slightly nervous right now.

Liam Williams, Paul James and Cory Allen off with injures for Wales. What have Wales done to upset the Rugby Gods.

No team in world rugby is better in the last 15 minute of a match than the All Blacks. Them being behind never really concerns me, but it was a surprise to switch over from the United match to that score.
