Rugby Union Discussion - Six Nations Time

I have France as my favourites for the tournament and bar the missed conversions, it was a perfect night for the hosts. It was the mauling we all expected.
Ireland are favourites because of how the fixtures land, France have to go away to twickers (which they’ll probably still win) and the Aviva (which they probably won’t).

I do think they’re the best team, but 6 nations is often decided by the schedule

Ireland didn't impress me much in November so I'd want to see improvement from them if they're to pull off a 3peat.

The Irish ref who Mack Hansen slagged off has decided to quite reffing

Obviously couldn’t handle a proper Aussie barracking

And Mack got a 3 match ban. Connacht games only, back for Ireland.

Total bullshit.

Was it the IRFU or the URC governing body who gave Mack Hansen his ban? If it was the national body giving out a ban that conveniently meant Aussie Mack could play for Ireland and not Connacht, World Rugby should have the right to add some if not all of Ireland's 6Nations games to his ban.

Nonsense. A three match ban was excessive if anything. What grounds would world rugby have for wading in and extending it?

Saw a lad on social media saying he's going to run a mile for every point Wales lose by in this 6 nations. Poor guy.

We’ll learn a lot today. If they struggle against England at home then France might have a chance there

feck me that’s some commitment to fitness. Suspect it’ll be 120+ miles

URC.

But it played out as you say. Mack missed Connacht matches and no Ireland matches.

However, the IRFU did a very thinly veiled condemnation of Connacht via a tweet, which made people even more angry because they never did this to Leinster when Sexton got a similar ban.

We'll see after this evenings game but I really don't think Ireland can be favourites on their form coming into the tournament and even if it's at home an opener against England is never easy.

The error count will need to reduce dramatically on the Autumn and a functioning line-out would be nice.

Didn’t watch the game last night as I went to a Premiership cup game. What’s the deal with that red card? Is the ban the same for the 20 minute red and full red card?

It looked like the most obvious straight red I’ve seen for a while. If it was Owen Farrell we’d have an extra three pages in here

Ntamack has no form. Not comparable in my opinion.

Bill McLaren's grandson (Rory Lawson) is the co-commentator on the world feed.

Rory Darge supports Liverpool. Reason for some of you to want Italy to win.

Nice to see for a change Scotland as the home team wearing their home kit and Italy as the away team wearing the their away kit. Never understood the reasons/logic why it was the opposite for a very long time in this sport.

Is it normal for rugby to have advantages that last an age? It’s almost like the defending team cannot intercept/win back the ball for a while as the ref will bring it back to the original foul that occurred more than 30 seconds/a minute ago. I’m critical on how football refs love the sound of their own whistle but rugby refs seem the exact same. Whistle after whistle, stoppage after stoppage.

This game will be level at 19-19 all in a moment. It shouldn't be based on general play.

Huw Jones hat trick surely seals the win for Scotland against an Italian team that hasn't looked like constructing a try all day.

We are such a frustrating team. Cannot give teams an avenue back in. Better sides will capitalise more than the Italians have.

We’re capable of some amazing rugby and then implode. Thank feck we’ve found rhythm again.

Great start to the first half and great ending to the 2nd half.

The bit in between was pretty grim stuff from us.

i’m enjoying the last 30 minutes of england being in contention for this 6 nations.

Never Rimsy! We will conquer these low-corporation-tax perpetually-late-for-meetings potato-loving bastards

And if we don’t it’s because the ref hates the English

hasn’t given us a single decision yet. doubt we’ll hear any of the irish lads admitting as much.

i trust most of the irish fans were joining in for god save the king, there.

For some reason I have potato stew in mind.

As a former openside, this 3 openside backrow going after every ruck is just beautiful
